3 Time IIHF Goalie of the Year leaving Team Sweden - BarnabasCollins - 04-18-2021

Big news from the Big Parm in Calgary where the Dragons are preparing to start off the new season. Kata Vilde steps up to the mic and releases the following statement. I have petitioned the IIHF commissioners under rules for International Transfers subsection D which states the following:

d) Locked in Goalie Transfers
- If an active backup goalie does not play at least 6 games over the course of 2 seasons (can play 5 games 1 season and 1 the other), they may apply to the IIHF Commissioners to be eligible for a transfer once per career.
- They cannot be contacted by other nations before they are approved for a transfer by an IIHF Commissioner. This transfer will count towards the receiving nation's assigned transfers.

I have heard from Commissioner Velevra that my request has been approved. Therefor I am now eligible to transfer nations when the next transfer window becomes open. I will have no further statement to make at this time, I'm just glad to get the situation settled before the beginning of the SHL season so I can focus on helping the Calgary Dragons on their road to the playoffs and hopefully cup winning season. Thank you and don't forget to grab your free parms on the way out. We have a buffet table and beverages set up for your enjoyment. Please indulge responsibly.

IIHF HO is acknowledging requests for waivers?

Hey @Velevra @nykonax when will @sve7en get his request approved? It's very reasonable and long overdue.

Sve7en's case is probably the most egregious example of rethinking transfer rules potentially

Best of luck to Vilde and thanks for the free parm!

If sve7en meets the criteria outlined in the rules for a transfer he can apply for one. The rules may be changed in the future with a new Commissioner appointment happening.

Always tough to manage rules that strike the right balance. I know there has always been a fear that too lenient transfer rules will result in a ton of players demanding out in protest of GM appointments or to simply play with their friends/ for a stronger team when they reach a high enough TPE level. Tons of player movement may also ruin the "IIHF feel" since it would be unusual in real life to see a lot of players switching nations.

Kata Vilde will go down in history as a Swedish legend. Definitely carried the team on his back to one of those gold medals. Thanks for everything, gl wherever you land!
