Change to GM Recreation Rules - WannabeFinn - 03-05-2022

Good evening, SHL.

Following discussion amongst the SHL Head Office and Ownership, we have voted to make adjustments to Section II A of the SHL Rulebook regarding GM rules in relation to GM recreation.

==============================================================

GM Rules

A - GM Recreation

    Recreating Head General Managers are automatically added to their team’s roster at the time of the SHL Draft. This does not use one of their team’s draft picks. Head General Managers are eligible for this benefit IMMEDIATELY upon hiring.

    Head General Managers must serve 3 seasons in this role before resigning, or they will forfeit their recreate to retirement (standard retirement rules apply).

    Recreating co-General Managers are automatically drafted to their team’s roster using their team’s earliest available 2nd round pick. If no 2nd round pick is available, a 1st round pick must be used.

    Co-General Managers must have managed their team for 3 seasons (offseason to offseason) to be drafted in this way.

    Any General Manager whose player is entering the SHL Draft and wishes to resign must do so BEFORE the SHL Draft. General Managers who wish to resign after being drafted must wait until the start of SHL Regular Season 2 full seasons after their SHL Draft (ex. General Manager drafted in the S65 SHL Entry Draft cannot step down until the beginning of the S67 Season). Stepping down before this time will result in the following punishment:

    The General Manager's player acquired via auto-draft will be retired. The player may finish out their final season as any other retired player would.
"

==============================================================

TL;DR Head GM's are eligible to be auto-drafted immediately upon hire. However, they risk losing their player without 3 seasons of service after their recreate date. No changes for the Co-GM auto-draft procedure.

We hope to avoid future instances of Head GM's being put in unnecessary predicaments.

On behalf of the SHL Head Office,
WBF

And people thought having the GM recreation rules at the top of the rulebook was dumb. Put them back!

Not sure spending two 1sts and two 3rds in the past two drafts on players who made it known they wouldn’t ever play in the SHL is the team-first approach but hey

2 3rds are worthless, and 1 1st instead of 2. Thief is committed to the team from day 1

Not to mention what this says to other users/creates who see/hear about those picks and situations. Real good way to “set an example”, don’t you think?

Well at least this changes it so these cases no longer have a gm being greedy by exploiting their leverage to not use one of their 4 1sts on themselves
