It was a great shock to several groups when ex British Politician decided to get into the world of hockey, first representing former franchise New England Wolfpack defender Perry Morgan (including signing the highly controversial 15 x $4 mil contract), and then moving on to be the GM of both the Great Britain federation, and the old Halifax Raiders in the Juniors. While he never lead either team to much success, Team GB did go on to a highly dominant streak in the IIHF tournament shortly after.
Now, after several years of little contact with the former agent and GM, Mr Balls has finally made his reappearance in the world of hockey. At the ripe old age of 55 he has apparently decided sitting behind a desk is beneath him, which he announced rather interestingly during his livestream at the now-derelict ice rink in Halifax, ripping off his suit Superman style to reveal one of the old Raiders jerseys beneath, and then promptly setting fire to the remains of the expensive looking fabric.
Many may question if the old man has what it takes to even skate the length of the ice, other question if he has the mental capacity to keep up with the puck during a game. Most still aren't over the switch from British Politics to Hockey management. One thing is for sure though: Ed Balls is here to play some fuckin hockey.
