May 7-8 Subscription bug - grok - 05-08-2022

tl;dr: subscriptions didn't run on May 7 or 8. Please buy your packs manually today.


Hi everyone. It's grok posting in Trading Cards, which means Something Went Wrong™

On May 6, an unrelated ongoing issue with the website's calls to the SQL server crashed the site. During our disaster recovery steps, we made some band-aid changes to the database to try and prevent the problem from reoccurring. As an unknown complication of the fixes and the downtime, the database's Event Scheduler was disabled. The Ice Level subscription process relies on the Event Scheduler to run every night. Since the Event Scheduler was disabled, subscription packs were not processed for May 7 or May 8.

Since some subscribers have already purchased their May 8 packs, we request that everyone purchases their packs manually today regardless of subscription status. If you were impacted by the failed subscription service on May 7 and did not manually purchase your packs that day, we will provide additional guidance about receiving your May 7 subscription packs next week.

Thanks for your patience as we continue squashing bugs both here and around the site. We expect subscriptions to process as normal tomorrow, May 9. If those subscriptions fail unexpectedly, we will provide additional guidance along with the May 7 update.
