I mean, don't spend time running thousands of tests? That seems just as dumb as this decision. However, having been a GM for WJC and in other leagues, having some semblance of an idea of what works and doesn't is pretty important to me. I would hate to send the team out and get rolled, because I didn't invest any time trying to do my job. As a player, I want do perform well, and I'd like to have some idea of what the attributes do so I don't build in a way that makes my player perform poorly at what I want them to do. You can have both things; you can spend time learning about the sim without "sweating" over it. The punishment for this is extremely over the top.

Without having any idea about how the sim works, it is basically rolling for outcomes. I've never sat and spent six hours on a single game/sim day, but every so often it's nice to run a few sims to see how different tactics play against different teams. This is basically telling coaches they can't have practices anymore.

I have a life with work and hobbies and family and friends so I don’t have endless hours to waste on test simming for a fake internet hockey league that’s supposed to be fun, nor do I have time to figure out how to find and/or program a bot to do it for me.
