Howdy everyone.

Earlier today it was raised to SMJHL HO's attention that a team had a player playing over the appropriate TPE cap. After investigating, we confirmed the issue and found another player on a different team in a similar situation. Read on for the specifics of each case.

First, we were informed that the Detroit Falcons goalie Wayne Holloway @linsangeles started 11 games while 4 TPE over the 350 cap. The SMJHL Rulebook dictates in section 10.l. Player Over Cap that players with a TPE violation less than 10 TPE over the equivalent cap receive a suspension equal to 25% of the games played. Thus Holloway should be suspended for an equivalent 2.75 games. When discussing whether to round up or round down, we examined many factors including the self-reporting nature of this incident. As such, to incentivize players to come forward about discrepancies before they become greater problems, SMJHL HO voted to round down for a final punishment of a 2 game suspension for Wayne Holloway.

Second, in our investigation it was acknowledged that the Great Falls Grizzlies goalie Beau Kavangh @takethehorizon started 9 games with 14 TPE over the 350 cap. The SMJHL Rulebook dictates per section 10.l. that being equal to or greater than 10 TPE over the appropriate cap carries a punishment equivalent to 50% of the games played over the cap. This results in a 4.5 game suspension. This was discussed by SMJHL HO, and we voted to uphold a 5 game suspension for the player given the lack of a self-report or any other mitigating factors.

We have informed all the necessary parties of these results and they have been tagged for visibility. The teams will be required to bench their respective player ASAP and find a temporary replacement. Should no AFA/IFA goalies be available they will be able to sign a temporary bot goalie per 1.f.iii. As always the teams are free to appeal this decision to the Appeals Team should they wish.

Unfortunately the updater sheet wasn't working properly and it wasn't caught at the time like it should have been. The only solution must be to eliminate the J cap

Anyway, having that moral toughness up to 11 instead of 10 didn't help us win really at all. Oh well, rules is rules. Double check your math when updating, guys...Today inactive backup snatched a 3-0 win tho. :D
