Ivo Willems
@OrbitingDeath

The first drafted player in New England History. Ivo Wilems can claim that. A player who has been all around the SHL, he is 58th in the top 75 all time SHL. Drafted 2nd overall in S10, Ivo Wilems good almost instantly.
Like most players in that time, Wilems started his career in S10. Off to a hot start, Ivo scored 24 goals, 23 assists for 47 points. He won the Ryan Jesster Handidly, and was an All Star that season. Starting in the inflation era certainly helps too.

S11 would prove Ivo’s knack for goal scoring. In his sophomore season, he jumped to a career high 39 goals, 38 assists for 77 points. The final season of the inflation era, Ivo tied that era for most goals in a season. ( Danielle Hogan got 39 goals in S9 too). 2 seasons in, already making a mark. Winning the Jay McDonald for most goals in a season, and t-6th in points for that season. What more do you want out of a sophomore career?

S12 however, things were a bit bumpy. With Ivo serving a suspension of 15 games , Willems only played 35 games that season. Scoring 6 goals, 14 assists for 20 points in those 35 games. Willems' play was rocky that season.

That offseason as well, Willems would be on the move. Traded to Manhattan, Ivo Willems and Jareth Sto Helit were sent to Manhattan in exchange for 2 1sts, Nike Kickz, and Jardy Bunclewirth. With Manhattan wanting to become a playoffs favorite, this trade helped them get there, as the GM of the time diamond_ace stated
“Additionally, welcome to the two big names, Willems and Helit! Always been a huge fan of both these guys and I couldn't be happier to land them, right as we're trying to make that last push. These guys are going to be a huge part of that. The picks, well, frankly I don't know how they will turn out, so it's hard to feel the loss for them, and Jardy is pretty well inactive so he's really just a filler.”
S13 for Ivo though, did not go well either. In the full 50 games this season, he only scored 29 points for the season. A long way down from winning the McDonald his 2nd season in the league.

S14 though, his luck would turn back around. Having a big season for Manhattan, Ivo Willems scored 24 goals, 26 assists for 50 points this season. His first time back to being a PPG player. Tied for 6th in the league in points that season. 3rd in the league in goals too.

However, being a free agent, Ivo’s rights were traded to the Edmonton Blizzard at that time. Then subsequently signed to a 1 season 7 mil deal. With Edmonton in contention for the cup it was an easy choice. With the GM of the time Teztify saying “
Ivo is a player with whom Edmonton has had a questionable past. With a different core and a different management team at the time, it was no secret that our two sides didn't get along, but this past week of having Ivo in our locker room with the guys on this team now has been an absolute pleasure. He is a great fit for us both in our line-up and in our locker room and we couldn't be happier to have him. It means a lot to me that we've built a team and an atmosphere good enough that we can mend fences in the way we have here, and now we're just looking towards the future and hopefully winning a Challenge Cup together. If we are able to accomplish that goal, Ivo wll play a huge role in it.”

S15 saw Ivo win his first Challenge Cup of his career. An obviously good choice to sign in Edmonton. For the regular season he also had a very productive season. Scoring 16 goals, 30 assists for 46 points. Ivo was 11th in points for that season. An elite player being moved from one team to the next, not losing a step. Winning a cup. With that one season being up, Ivo looked to move along.

Edmonton trading Ivo’s rights to Los Angeles. To Los Angeles trading the rights to Ivo away  to Hamilton after making it clear that Ivo was not going to sign with Los Angeles. Ivo would instead sign with Hamilton. A 2 season, 14  mil then 4 mil contract.

S16 would see Ivo score 19 goals, 18 assists for 37 points. 22nd in the league in scoring. Not great, but not bad either. S17 would see Ivo score 22 goals, 23 assists for 45 points. 9th in scoring in the league that season. Good enough to earn him 2nd All Star.

S18 however, would start a great run for Ivo in Hamilton. Scoring 24 goals, 29 assists for 53 points. Ivo was on fire that season, ending up being 4th in the league in scoring. S19 saw Ivo score 21 goals, 19 assists for 40 points. Good to earn an All Star Spot, good for 20th in the league in scoring.
S20 was another great season for Ivo. Scoring 18 goals, 32 assists for another 50 point season. Another season where he was a top player in the league. 3rd in points only behind Chris McZehrl(51P) and Joe McKeil(61P). Earning another 2nd All Star too.

19 games into S21, Hamilton sent Ivo Williams to the West Kendall Platoon. The trade having West Kendall acquiring Willems, and Hamilton receiving Bryson Thomaz and Yoezer Ben-Zecharia. For the S21 season, Ivo had another amazing season. 23 goals, 26 assists for 49 points. Tied for 10th in the league in points for the season. He received a 3rd All Star Team for that too.

S22 is the start of the 52 game era. West Kendall is where Ivo would spend the rest of his career. The last 7 seasons stayed in WKP. From the end of S21 -> S28. S22 saw another productive season, scoring 17 goals, 25 assists for 42 points in the 52 games played.18th in the league in scoring. S23 would be almost identical, at least in points. Scoring 21 goals, 21 assists for 42 points. He was again tied for 18th in the league in scoring. A top 20 player as he enters into harsher regression.

S24 saw Ivo hit the 20+ goal mark for the final time. Scoring 21 goals, 18 assists for 39 points. 33rd in the league in scoring. S25 saw another productive season. 18 goals, 22 assists for 40 points. 30th in the league in scoring. S26 would see Ivo be the last season of regular minutes. Scoring 17 goals, 24 assists for 41 points. 37th in the league in points.

S27 only saw Ivo play 13 minutes a game that season. With his minutes almost halved, Ivo only scored 21 points. S28 saw his minutes get reduced even more. Only playing 4.5 minutes a night, expectedly, Ivo only scored 6 points that season.

With that, Ivo retired from the SHL. Over his 943 game career, Ivo scored 356 goals, 418 assists for 774 points over his career. With 9 20+ goal seasons, Ivo was a premiere goal scorer of his time, one of the best. The 356 goals at that time is 2nd all time in goals only behind David Winter. His 774 points over his career was 5th all time in points at the time of retirement. Someone who never secured a major award, Willems played like one. Having multiple seasons where he was in the top 5 in scoring, top 10 in scoring, top 15 in scoring.
