Kelowna Knights Snow Day
#1

The regular season has ended and the Kelowna Knights have secured the final playoff spot in the S39 SMJHL playoffs. What a time to be a fan. What a time to be alive.

Almost as if to welcome the on coming post season the weather his been quite snowy. Wonderful snowflakes falling from the sky with temperatures that aren't actually that bad......for a Prairie farm boy. Given the joyous attitudes in the Knight's locker room and the wonderfully fun weather. Richard Physt found himself wondering what he could do. With it being around freezing, a far cry from -30 back home.

*Bzzzzt bzzzzt* It's his phone. Popping it open it was a message from his defensive partner Max Poulin. "Hey, you wanna go sledding?" An odd feeling hit him. Something like nervousness and excitement? Granted sledding is CLASSIC snow fun that Physt never really got. Saskatchewan is FLAT! You could watch your dog run away for three days. (Don't ever do this kids)

Firing back "Hell yeah i wanna" Physt got dressed for the snow and headed out.
Leaving the apartment he shares with Jacob Dorty, who is probably off watching the Bruins (HA), training, and Drinking, and Brock Becker who is passed out on the couch after partying the night away. Richard heads off toward the large, hilly fields on the north end of the city.

Along the way he runs into Pedersen and Hansen, two of the Knights mainstay defensive veterans. "Hey Chris, Sigs, y'all wanna go sledding with Maxi and I at Old man Jenkin's field? "Sure, we'll go"

Now armed with two sleds, and three of Kelowna's Defense men, the band heads for Jenkin's field.

As the three made their way up the hill and to the gate, Poulin crested the ridge from the other side, toboggan in tow. Made of some hardwood, varnished, with trims painted red it sparkled. Physt's heart pounded in his chest for a moment and he had to suppress it before speaking. "Hey Maxi, save some of the hill for us" Pedersen and Hansen were off and racing down the hill, competing to see who would hit the bottom.

Physt was fairly excited but forgot one smallish detail. Poulin pointed it out just in time. "Hey Rich, where is your Toboggan?" There was that odd fluttering in his gut again. Physt tried to stammer out "i, uhh, hmm" But, as always, Poulin was on the ball. "Its all good, we can all share" He got it all set and got in. Physt's heart was off to the races again. "Earth to Rich" Poulin Beckoned. Coming to his senses, Physt responded "Right, yeah, lets go" and climbed on the back, hanging onto the rope with Poulin as the roared down the hill, drawing a huge cheer from Physt. "Wooooohoooo!~ That was amazing!~" Pedersen, and Hansen cheered as well "How was that for your first time eh? Come on, lets see if you can hang on while standing on BOTH sleds" Physt responded, never one to shy away from a challenge on OR off the ice, with "Your ON!" and the three headed up the hill.

The hours whiled away, sliding, snowball fighting, building snowmen. It was your average snow day. But it felt odd. Richard felt nervous around Poulin. He is never nervous on the ice, NEVER. No big, tough player unsettles him, no offensive rush coming for him, no big game, nothing. But something about the, admittedly gorgeous, Russo-French Canadian has butterflies scattering in his stomach.
