The Pre-season has begun in the Simulation Major Junior Hockey League and it is time for the Season 72 Simulation Major Junior Hockey League rookies to get their first taste of the league. While an exciting time for many it is mostly the time to test things out and get a sense of where each player is individually. Many teams in the Simulation Major Junior Hockey League have gone through transformations due to players being called up. Many teams are trying to find chemistry with their rookies and younger players who are now a year older with development time udner their belt.

The Newfoundland Berserkers are a team who lost a few Season 69 players like the first overall pick Antoine Beauregard,  John Hopoate, Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez,  Ryan McKennedy,  Otto Steinberger, Pope Coswi Jr, and  Jacob Fournier. The Newfoundland Berserkers lost a lot of talent and are hoping some of their younger developing talents can fill the voids left, so this pre-season is a measuring stick to see where they’re at and see if maybe there is a chance they can still compete at a high level this season even though they lost a lot to call-ups and age-outs.

While the Newfoundland Berserkers are a different team now they do have some outstanding talent as well as some good rookies they selected in the Simulation Major Junior Hockey League draft like Sad Ketchup, Ondrej von Stoodrick, Roman Roy, and Entropy Sanchez.

The Newfoundland Berserks as a team currently sits at the top of the Simulation Major Junior Hockey League preseason standings with a 5-0 record. The Newfoundland Berserkers have scored 36 goals and tallied 13 goals thus far which is good for a league-leading plus 36 goal differential. A lot of their success thus far in the pre-season has come from high-scoring outings like the opening 8-0 win over the Detroit Falcons and another 11-2 convincing win over the Detroit Falcons days later, this goes to show that the pre-season results cannot be looked into too much. With that being said it has been a good start for a relatively younger and weaker Newfoundland Berserkers team that the league has known for the last few seasons.

Individually a few players have had a strong start to their Simulation Major Junior Hockey League careers, one of which is rookie Entropy Sanchez. Entropy Sanchez has had an amazing start to his preseason with 6 goals, and 7 assists for 13 points in 5 games. Entropy Sanchez is rocking a 50 shooting percentage which is probably not sustainable but impressive nonetheless.
Daniel Craig is another player who is putting up good numbers this pre-season. Daniel Craig is a second-year player who is looking to take his game to the next level. Daniel Craig is rocking a solid 5 goals, 7 assists for 12 points in 5 games. Daniel Craig has a solid 27.8 shooting percentage and has been throwing the body around a bit with 14  hits. Daniel Craig has been showing up both offensive and defensively which is good for a aa young Newfoundland Berserkers team.

Now, what does this mean for the Newfoundland Berserkers? Well, the pre-season is not that valuable as a measuring stick for teams but this pre-season performance so far maybe gives the Newfoundland Berserkers fans who were a bit concerned going into the season some hope that maybe the Newfoundland Berserkers can still compete for the middle of the pack in the league. It will be interesting to see how the Newfoundland Berserkers perform this season and see if the pre-season success can spill over into the regular season, time will tell.

The next deep dive with be into the Newfoundland Berserkers first round selection Sad Ketchup.
