Head Office Hallsy's Idiot of the Year
Before the season gets started in less than an hour, it’s time to review the past season for the San Francisco Pride as well as announce the new captaincy group for S64. Last season, the Pride had a great season and the group in the locker room was as strong as it has ever been. A shining example of building a great community through a rebuild and seeing everything come together. The only thing left is to find that post-season success and we are committed to making that happen in S64. Before we get into our internal team awards, let’s give some shout-outs to the members who saw their names mentioned at the All-Star Game and awards show!
Tim Allen Jr. @Lem
Ryan Jesster Award nominee FR Finn-Rhys @FinnRhys Bojo Biscuit Award nominee Rikard Bjerg @AgentSmith630 Bojo Biscuit Award winner Lance Uppercut Award nominee @Thatguy91 Lance Uppercut Award nominee Walton Stromberg @sulovilen Jeff Dar Award nominee Sven Svensson @LordBirdman S63 First All-Star Team Ron Mexico Award winner It’s great to see the team getting a lot of recognition and we’re extremely grateful of that! The awards show night was a lot of fun for the team since we got to cheer on the nominees and it was even better to see some of the players take home some trophies! Congratulations goes to the nominees and winners alike but we have to acknowledge what a fantastic season Sven displayed! Sven joins the Mexico club and definitely showed what it means to be a MVP and we couldn’t be prouder. With that being said, let’s move on to some internal team awards! As a note for anyone unfamiliar, we run an off-season poll where the team votes on who they want to see as our award winners. The Geronimo Otto Award Our first award for the evening will be the Otto award. This award is used to recognize the leaders of the Discord locker room. The members who really embrace the spirit of the team and motivate those around them through thick and thin. Our nominees this season… Rikard Bjerg @AgentSmith630 Henrik Lekberg Osterman @Thatguy91 Jack Klompus @Toast Unsurprisingly the team is rallying around the two members who are responsible for making San Francisco what it is today. While we couldn’t find the luck needed in the post-season, the energy in the locker room is the best it has ever been and that is because of two people who refused to give up or get discouraged when things did not go their way. They kept fighting and made excellent moves for the team’s talent and locker room and this was seen by the Awards Committee with the nomination for the Lance Uppercut. I’ve said this countless times in the team’s Discord but it has been a thrill to be part of this team since being traded by Manhattan. I was truly happy to go anywhere but I’m fortunate that it was the Pride who ended up winning that race. If it’s not clear how committed I was to the team, I’ve gone and moved up to SHL GMing again and want to continue building on what our Uppercut nominees have done so far. And the winner is… Jack Klompus! Thank you everyone for the Otto. I believe last season was the first time ever I was captain of a SHL team and it’s great being in the locker room with you all. With my patting myself on the back out of the way, let’s move on to our second award of the evening… The Kelly Rivet Award The second award that we are going to be awarding tonight is the Rivet Award. This award goes to the player that the Pride have voted on. With many players playing a key role in the success of the Pride, let’s take a look at the three who shined out to the team… or actually, the two who received votes! Sven Svenson @LordBirdman Walton Stromberg @sulovilen It’s absolutely shocking to everyone that the player that was named Mr. Mexico for S63 would be acknowledged by his teammates as well. After a bit of a slower season for Sven standards, he rebounded and led his team with the most goals and the most assists of any player. The definition of an offensive quarterback, it seemed Sven was everywhere on the ice and definitely deserves to be in the Rivet conversation once again. Walton had a fantastic season as well, really embracing the role as the team’s number one center after seasons of developing. A leader on and off the ice, Walton found himself with his first point-per-game season with a nice 69 points total. He was the team’s powerplay specialist and led the team with 19 points on the powerplay. Both of these players were absolutely fantastic but there can only be one winner… Sven Svenson! I could really go on about Sven the entire awards show but the amount of joy the team had from seeing his success this season cannot be described. We were over the moon that he was the MVP winner and that really was a highlight of the season for a team that we felt like could’ve gone farther in the post-season than we did. I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of Sven’s name but let’s move on to our third award of the evening… The Jack Tanner Award The third award that we are handing out this evening is the Tanned Award. This award is given to the Pride player who their teammates felt was the most underrated player on the team and across the league. Since the last trophy had only two nominees, let’s balance out the total and list off four for this award… Patrik Money @Mooney Miguel Hefeweizen @ZootTX Alex Petrenko @traphag Nicolae Antonescu @Rancidbudgie There are many players that could have been listed here as everyone played a role in the success of the Pride, however, these were the four that stuck out to everyone. Money had a solid season and quietly put up nearly 50 points on some of the lower ice-time for the team and was relied on for our shorthanded moments. Hefeweizen exploded on to the scene and let everyone in the league know that Miguel is a name that every SHL team needs to be aware of. 55 points this season and what should have been an Aidan Richan nomination season, we expect Miguel will only improve from here. Petrenko was as reliable as ever while not being in the spotlight. This Bojo Award winner demonstrated a fantastic defensive season. Our final nomination goes to the player in the goalie crease, Nicolae Antonescu. Nicolae was as reliable as ever and put up a 91.7 save percentage this season to help keep the team in the fight to nearly take the Pacific. Our winner for S63 is… Miguel Hefeweizen! Zoot had a fantastic season as Hefeweizen took on more ice time and we were sure he was going to be one of the nominees at award night. Unfortunately that did not happen but that does not stop his teammates from noticing what a fantastic season Miguel had! Like I said, I think bigger things are coming this season for Miguel and I hope this is a name we will see next go around. A fantastic season from the former Timber! Now let’s move on to the final award of the evening… The Pride of the Pride Award Our final award of course is the Pride of the Pride award which will be rewarded to the team member who best exemplifies what it means to be a part of the team. This award focuses on the member who had led the locker room throughout the season and demonstrates everything we want to see from our members. As always, members are welcome to give justification for their nominees and I will go into detail for each nominee for this one. Our nominees are… Walton Stromberg @sulovilen Everyone should be familiar with sulo graphics if you have been around the league for some time. Always a positive voice in the locker room, Sulo is always there to offer new arrivals with a beautiful San Francisco graphic and a friendly welcome. Sulo is always around as a voice in the locker room and is someone who has been around through the rough parts of the rebuild. “Sulo is always doing great things for this team, whether it be creating sigs, just general chatter or even introducing wordle to the LR,” a nominator said. Miguel Hefeweizen @ZootTX “Zoot is always around to talk to, and is one of the most friendly people I’ve interacted with,” said a nominator. I’m very happy to be the person who gets the prize of being the first to draft Zoot! I remember my first season as GM of Maine and seeing his media asking to be scouted. We had a short conversation but it was already clear what the nominator said. Zoot is an absolute genuine user to have in your locker room and I even got to see what it was like to have Zoot as a GM in another league! I’m grateful we have you as part of our community and it’s clear the team feels the same way. Henrik Lekberg Osterman @Thatguy91 I’m quite certain I’m not exaggerating when the team was devastated to find out that Henrik would be stepping down following the S63 campaign. After a year-and-a-half of leading this team through a tough rebuild we saw the San Francisco team hit its plateau for this era community wise. The team is currently fully active mostly to the credit of Henrik. “Henrik has always worked very hard over the years as GM and deserves another Pride of the Pride award,” said a nominator. It’s clear Henrik is one of the most beloved members on our team and this nomination shows! Sven Svenson @LordBirdman Disregarding the absolute success Sven had on the ice this season, Birdman is one of the most valuable members this team has and without him being a constant voice through the team’s rebuild, the team likely wouldn’t be where it is today. “He’s what a leader is. He’s always a voice in the locker room and is a key part of the team,” said a nominator. While the individual award success is great, it’s nice to see Birdman get to see the success of a community coming together after sticking through the rough parts of the rebuild, something many other users would not have done. Well deserved nomination! And the winner is… Henrik Lekberg Osterman / Thatguy91! While the nomination pool was very strong, it’s not too surprising to see the members celebrate Henrik after a fantastic season at the helm of the team. Congrats! I hope everyone enjoyed the S63 Awards Show and we look forward to doing this all again in two months! Before we take off tonight we are also going to announce our captains for S64! —— It’s a great honour for me to have been captain of this franchise last season. Like I said, it’s the first time I received that honour and I’m really grateful it was with this current group of players. It’s my privilege to pass the C back to its rightful place… Captain
Sven Svenson - @LordBirdman I’ve mentioned him enough through this article but it’s great to announce that Sven/Birdman will once again be Cven. Like I said in the nomination right above, Birdman is a user that has been through the worst of the rebuild and continues to be a positive voice in the locker room despite our struggles against LAP and through the rough times. It’s no surprise that a team is willing to rally around such a strong user and it’s nice to put the C back on Sven’s season of accolades. Alternate Captains
With Henrik taking a step back from GM it’s not surprising the team immediately wanted to put an A on HLO’s jersey! After a storied career through everything, HLO will be on a quest to add to his games played and hopefully see some team success come along with it. Since I’ve arrived in SFP, Keven has been one of the most supportive and vocal members of the team. Keven exemplifies what it means to be part of the Pride and the community would not be the same without you! Well done to you both! That’s all for tonight! I hope everyone enjoys a new season of SHL hockey! All the best from San Francisco and !rollpride Code: 2125 words
