Written, up to 4 TPE - Grab Bag: Pick up to 4 Challenge Cup related topics to write about! Each topic is worth 1 TPE. Each answer must be 50+ words. a. The Texas versus Chicago series was the most competitive in both of their runs. When a team takes you to seven games it definitely makes your path to the finals harder and more treacherous when you get pushed to the brink of elimination. Therefore, I think the Texas Renegades had the harder path to the finals. (56 words) b. I think that staying good for a decade is more impressive. You have to have everyone bought in and still active, and you have to have to maintain good drafting over a prolonged period of time in order to keep winning as Hamilton has. Ten seasons of prolonged success is hard to accomplish and we might not see another stretch like the one Hamilton has had for a long time. (70 words) c. A renegade is a person who deserts and betrays an organization, country, or set of principles. A steelhawk is a hawk made of steel, or maybe a military thing. That probably makes sense. I honestly have no fucking clue who Victor Helstrom is from the CW trivia but cheers to Slash for making everyone think about him. (57 words) d. Robert Phelps of the Hamilton Steelhawks was the best player to play for either team that I can think of off the top of my head. Phelps was an elite scorer for many seasons and was the face of the franchise for almost his entire career. The case can be made for a number of other players as well but we can all agree that Gabriel Johnson isn't the answer. (71 words) Code: 14. Written, 3 TPE, Upswing (150 words min.) The Atlanta Inferno are going to be a scary team in the future. With up and coming stars such as Puddles O'Duck, Pablo Salvatici, Angus McFife XVIII, Anton Mihailov, and Michael Withecheck, the Inferno will be ready to take the next step in the playoffs soon. They're just on the outside of their contention window, but have been consistently making the first round and will be ready to consistently challenge for the cup in just a couple seasons. It's not so much of a rebuild as much as it is just a building of the team for the expansion Atlanta franchise, but with the young talent they've been bringing in they'll be competing with the Tampa's, Texas' and Hamilton's of the league in no time. They've still got a number of draft picks upcoming soon too which will bolster their already stacked young core. The likes of Towlie, Pavel Jeziak, Evgeni Petrov, Michael Robertson and Paul Binder will be taking the league by storm this season and next. (168 words) Code: 3. Written, 3 TPE, Draft Kings (150 words min.) In my opinion, S31 had the biggest impact on the SHL. There's been multiple general managers like JoeK, Tomen, Zoone, ztevans, Grapehead, Toivo and more. Some of the highest TPE players came from this class, some of the highest scoring, someone like Jason Visser who is in the conversation for all time league GOAT. A number of the users from this class are still around and still have some of the top players in the league. This was a deep class that has had a large impact on the league for 30 seasons and still continues to provide GM's, top players, important league members and more. There are many hall of fame players from all rounds of the draft, such as Alex Light from the 3rd round. Players like Travis Jeziak were taken at the end of the 4th round and their users are still around with active players that have had good careers. With both the depth and the sheer high end talent in this draft it is my opinion that it has had the biggest impact on the league. (181 words) 16/16 |
