My god, we finally followed through. It feels so good to finally get the words "Challenge Cup" tied to my profile. I've been on the site a long time (relatively), and it makes me happy to actually taste victory. After knowing how long I've waited and hearing how long some of my teammates waited, I asked myself: how long have we really waited? So my math brain is investigating this question and I invite you along on my journey. 

Like all SHL teams, there are 17 users/players on the roster. The seasons are roughly 3 months long. Basic math will bring you to the conclusion that if a team were to go back-to-back in the SHL, those users would be waiting 3 months for a cup. Add them all together and you get a cumulative 4 years, 3 months of anticipation. Obviously teams don't go back to back often, so this number will be much higher. But how high is is for Winnipeg? Yes, we've been to the Finals four years straight and have good regular seasons, but only tasted playoff victory just now. I totally get the Winnipeg fatigue throughout the league. Success draws haters. But let's look at the people behind the team.

Totaled all together, the users of Winnipeg have been waiting 63 years, 10 months for this cup. The last time the Winnipeg franchise won a cup was S44, 28 seasons ago (4 years, 7 months).

JT3 is getting his first ever cup after almost 6 years on this site! OrbitingDeath, Ace, and thedangazone have waited each waited significantly longer than their teammates to taste victory again - for OD, almost 10 years! Ten of the 17 users on this team have never won a Cup despite all of them having at least two years of experience under their belt. Interestingly, the last cup Ace won - S23 - was with the team he just beat, New England. 

I am sure there are a number of users out there that are also very close to tasting victory in a long while (or ever). Keep your head up! It can happen! 

So congratulations, Winnipeg Aurora. We did it.
