S45 Prospect Showcase – Bighorns Review

Because of so much new prospects User @ArGarBarGar (Thank You) hosts a tournament where all the young rookies get the chance to smell some SMJL air and proof themselves as starting juniors in a north American hockey league.

This is the Review of Mike McKorsy´s Team – The Bighorns



Regular Season

The Bighorns qualified directly after 36 games for the S45 PS Playoffs. With 19 Wins, 14 Losses and 3 Overtime-Losses they endet up with 41 Points equal to the stingrays in conference 2. They had a big rally the last ten games to catch the stingrays from place 2 with an 8-2-0 record. Almost equal with their Goals For and Goals Against (+5) it looked like a good balanced lineup. Forward Oliver Cloutier scored the second most goals in the regular season with 22 tallies. Kalvins Zvejnieks turned heads with his great faceoff skills. As league-leader he had a winning percentag of nearly 63 percent. 3 percent more as his next follower. Mike McKorsy was third in Wins but his personal stats weren looking as good. With a 0.87 Sv%, 3,96 GAA there is much space to improve on.


Playoffs – Conference Semi Finals – Bighorns vs Stingrays (2-1)
Like all Experts expected, the series between the two teams that endet up equal in points in the Conference was very thight.
The Bighorns got the win in Game 1. The Bighorns got a 4-0 lead after they gave up 3 straight goals and made it an exiting game. Top Scorer Olivier Cloutier proves that he is able to score in clutch-time and to decide games. Goalie Mike McKorsy (Sv% 0.912) outplayed his opponent Jakub Hasek (pulled after 32 Minutes)

In Game 2 it was very thight again. This time a great performance by Jakub Hasek with 46 Saves from 49 Shots. After 2 periods the game between this two hard fighting teams was equal. With five minutes to play stingrays striker Barry Batsbak forces the Bighorns to Game 3.

In the Series deciding game 3 the stats-computer got crashed and we could only report about an 5 – 4 Overtime win as a comeback by the stingrays.



Defenseman Maximilian Williamson had the most goals for the Bighorns with 3. He was first in teamscoring too (3G 1A 4 Pts) with Malik Laske (2G 2A 4 Pts) and Tobias Elliott (0G 4 A 4 Pts).
Mike McKorsys had a 0,891 Sv% in his three playoff appearances. His GAA was bad with 3.85.

Mike McKorsys Tournament Review:
"I think there was rain and sun on my performances in this fantastic organized tournament. It was a great chance to learn much about the sequences and processes of this league. In the last 10 Games of the regular season we found our game and played our best hockey. Even in the playoffs we had a very good and fair clash with the stingrays. Overtime in a game 3, the fans are going nuts and we played our soul out, but sometimes there is a little peace (of luck) that misses at the end. "
