Halifax Hockey News Issue 2 – Raiders Edition 1

Welcome to the 2nd Issue of the Halifax Hockey News. Today we have a Raiders only special.
The Regular is close to the end and we will have a look at the Raiders team top 10 in scoring. We start at the top of the scorer list and walk on through the bottom.

Number one on the Scoresheets of the Raiders is Forward Mikael Choybuk ( @DollarAndADream  ). Draftet in the S43 SMJHL Junior Draft the young canadian player is ranked on place 1 with 36 Points (even 18 goals an assists). With over 2 minutes a game he is one of the pillars of the young raiders team. His even scoring and playmaking style are hard to read for opponent defenders.

Four points behind Choybuk we have Center Mr. Faceoffs ( @NH4JP ). He was drafted 3 Seasons ago (S42 SMJHL) and is the veteran of this Halifax team. His passing abilities brought him the teams most assists (23, even with Dominic Montgomery). His great routine you can size on his team most 13 Assists on the Powerplay. His name speaks for himself with the teams 2nd best faceoff-rate of the whole team.

Third place, even in points and only on place 3 because of his one point less on the +/- stat is defenceman David Montgomery ( @bilbo ).  He is the best defenceman on the scoreboard and has the most average minutes played this season with nearly 23. In his sophomore season he is the face of the franchise and the locker rooms favourite. In players crease the locker is called "Bilbos-Heart".

Newly via trade arrived in Halifax is 4th placed Tobias Viklund ( @Mordaciious ). Regained from Detroit the Left Wing  from Sweden he scored 6 points in 7 seven games  (4G 2A) and is a big factor in the raiders upswing at the end of the season. Overall he scored 31 points in this S45 SMJHJL Season (11 Goals, 16 Assists).

Matt Kholin ( @Kalakar ) , Forward, ranks 5th in scoring of the Canadian SMJHL Team. 29 Points are on the account of the young offensive allrounder. He is Top-Scorer amont the Halifax Raiders rookies with his 14 goals amd 15 assists. Well respected in the locker room Kholin is a leader who leads with his effort. Kholin's 5 Major Penalties show that he stays in for his teammates. But he is not the roughest Stone in town

Second defenseman on the scoring list ( 6th place) is Swedish Defenseman Dylan Karlsson ( @DilIsPickle ) . Drafted this year in the SMJHL he has a large impact on the Halifax defense and offense. Best defenseman among the rookies he will be a big part of the raiders this playoffs and maybe next season. One of the best +/- Stat on the team speak for his class. 25 Points (10 Goals and 15 Assists). He is dangerous with his allroundet power play game too (6 Goals / 6 Assists / 12 Points).

Jimmy Slothface ( @slothfacekilla ) is as active on the scoresheet as he is in the media section and the locker room. The sniping forward shows some defensive upside as he is second among the +/- stat with a +/- of +4. Unlikely for a sniper Jimmy has more assists (16) than goals (9). Maybe he will make a career as a great playmaker than as a sniping forward. 25 points is a real great result and place seven for the young rookie.

Jersey number 11 belongs to forward Clifton Outlaw ( @theshinymew64). 3 numbers higher than his jersey number he ranks in team scoring. An even picture is his scoresheet. 21 points in 46 games are showed on the display if you check his stats. A good, little bit quiet teammate who has 3 Powerplay Goals and 3 Powerplay Assists. His Faceoffs-Rate and the rate of penalty goals (0/5) have a little bit room to improve.

Kristoffer Mattson ( @Zema ), two way forward from Sweden, is as fast after the puck as after his pokemons in the locker room. The young player from Sweden translated his game very good from the big IIHF rink to north american ice. Drafted this year and collecting a 210 of TPE so far he managed to achieve 18 points (9 goals, 9assists). He is the player with 10 Major Penalties in 46 games. The next player isn’t even close with 5 (Morgan / Kholin).  His strength is doing faceoffs. Best rate on the team with 52,95 %. Place 9 in scoring among the Halifax Team.

Place 10 and the last of our in article described player is defenseman Perry Morgan (@ Flareon4043)  from Great Britain. Great guy in the locker room, he is responsible for the teams snacks and drinks in the locker room, he works as hard on the ice. The best player in +/- rating with +5 he keeps his teammates the back free and has a great defensive all around game. Some more discipline would be fine, much time he sits in the penalty box (87 Minutes).

Conclusion:
With new GM ( @Jearim ) and Co-GM ( @StamkosFan ) the Halifax Raiders improved this season very much. Chemistry, hard training and good goaching are the result in the 2nd half of the regular season. The raiders will be the outsider in the oncoming playoffs but they aren’t without a chance. Focus will be the next Season (S46) were much of the actually Roster will hace their sophomore year in Halifax. Most of the players made clear, that if drafted to the SHL, they would prefer to play another season under this great staff and in this classy lockerroom to improve their skills and attributes together and to make an impact in the SHL one or two seasons later.

At the end of our second issue of the Halifax Hockey News we hope you had fun to read our article even if you are not a member of the Halifax Organisation. We hope we come back soon with our 3rd Issue.
