S62 Raptors Season Preview
#1
(This post was last modified: 11-07-2021, 07:01 PM by Jayba1t.)

It’s that time of the year again! Season preview! Colorado had a phenomenal year, breaking their wins record in franchise history. Being only one of two teams able to eclipse the 100-point mark, players stepped up and performed at their best to guide Colorado to a successful season. Although Colorado got eliminated by eventual the Four Star Cup Champion Vancouver Whalers, there is still lots to be excited about for Season 62.

S60 C Kerbal Rais (Inactive Free Agency)
S59 LW Steven Thomas (Inactive Free Agency)
S59 G Raven Fallon (Inactive Free Agency)
Subtractions:
S60 G Zhen Roza (Call-up)
S59 RD Angus McFife XVIII (Call-up)

Depth Charts:
*red denotes inactive
Goalie
In: Fallon
Out: Roza
(S62) Recently Tired – 314 TPE
(S59) Raven Fallon – 155 TPE
With the call-up of star goalie Zhen Roza, a spot has emerged for the next goalie to take on the 1G reins. Last season’s draftee and backup Recently Tired should be able to. Although he isn’t quite to the 350 cap yet, Tired continues to grow and develop to fill a vital role on the team. Colorado should expect Tired to be a steady netminder for the season in his second year.
Filling in the backup spot will be IFA Raven Fallon. Not much to say here, as he will most likely play the minimum number of games required.
Left Defense
In: Enskidou
Out: None
(S61) Jamal Nightingale – 538 TPE
(S62) Zayne Dangle – 416 TPE
(S63) Warrior Enskidou – 215 TPE
On Left Defense, the depth chart stays pretty much unchanged aside from the addition of Enskidou. The trio of Nightingale, Dangle and Enskidou, a player from each previous season's classes, form what should be a real threat to opponents on both sides of the ice that will stay for at least the next season too. Nightingale and Dangle both have improved from last season, hitting those 425 and 350 caps respectively. Both are threats defensively and offensively and a perfect fit for #1 and #2 defenders on the left side there. Rounding out that will be Enskidou, a rookie who just created in time for Colorado to pick them up.
Right Defense
In: Rosey
Out: McFife, Virtanen
(S61) Hans Graf – 614 TPE
(S61) Magnus Galtisson – 314 TPE
(S63) GREY Rosey – 158 TPE
On the other hand, the right side definitely looks a little iffier from last season. McFife, the heart and soul of the team alongside being the top defender was called up, alongside with Virtanen. Hans Graf should nicely fit in to McFife’s previous roles with a 425 build and step into that bigger two-way defenseman role. Galtisson, who recently went IA, was a good bet to at least reach 350, still remains at 314 but should be serviceable in second pairing duties. Rosey, who was Colorado’s only draftee has started off slower in development but still will look to lock down smaller minutes.
Left Wing
In: Lord, Thomas
Out: Nishimori, Nystrom
(S60) Gonzo Gobbledygook – 823 TPE
(S62) Vin Bangsa-Wamy - 332 TPE
(S62) Sanjuro Tsubaki – 258 TPE
(S59) Steven Thomas – 184 TPE
(S60) DJ Lord – 162 TPE
Unless Lord and Thomas magically return to activity, there are also a few holes in the Left Wing with the departures of Nishimori and Nystrom, two top end offensive players. Still here though, is Gonzo Gobbledygook who has been a stud throughout the last two seasons and will remain a key scorer for Colorado. After that, Bangsa-Wamy has been steady in development and updates who will reach a 350 build quite soon and get more responsibilities soon. Tsubaki also went IA recently but nonetheless has a useable player for the Raptors lineup. Thomas and Lord went IA filler signings that won’t play a big part in the team.
Center
In: Rocker
Out: Schweingruber
(S60) Rinky McDangle – 611 TPE
(S61) Max Manning – 611 TPE
(S61) Tim Rocker – 174 TPE
(S60) Kerbal Rais – 168 TPE
Center continues to be covered extremely well with Most Improved Player winner McDangle and Manning as the two active options available to Colorado. Both are sitting at the 425 cap, form a solid 1-2 punch anchor the middle for the Raptors. Both have been excellent at faceoffs and have been great scorers and offense producers. Aside from the top 2, Rocker and Rais were part of the batch of IA signings to fill out roster spots. Again, their ice time will be limited and shouldn’t be counted upon to make a difference.
Right Wing
In: None
Out: O’Neal
(S60) Eric Tokke – 622 TPE
(S62) Shoyo Hinata – 420 TPE
(S61) Gabe-Gooney-Waters Harrak – 389 TPE
(S61) Donald Jr. Trump – 385 TPE
Right Wing currently has a pretty high floor, as IA Trump, the lowest of the 4 is still at a respectable 385 TPE, which is workable for the roster. Tokke, a two-way player who won the Holmes last season, headlines the group at the moment, while Hinata and Harrak are in the middle. Hinata the sniper himself sits at a 350 build, while Harrak looks like he will get to 425 whenever he updates next. These 4 make up a very talented and versatile right wing group and should be able to contribute up and down the lineup.
In conclusion, despite a weaker draft class that only managed to produce 2 players for Colorado, the team is still loaded with talent and star-power throughout the lineup, should still be able to fare well and win games.
Projected Lineup
Gobbledygook-McDangle-Tokke
Hinata-Manning-Harrak
Trump-Wamy-Tsubaki
Lord-Rais-Rocker
Nightingale-Graf
Dangle-Galtisson
Enskidou-Rosey
Tired
Fallon
Scratched: Thomas
My Predictions:
Team Record: 41-21-4, 86 points, 2nd in division
Team MVP: Gonzo Gobbledygook
