S62 PT#1: Game on
(This post was last modified: 11-09-2021, 02:15 PM by TheFlash.)

Prompt 2:

Big offseason in Montreal. We had our very first GM just kind of vanish! (although he seems to be back now). So he was let go, and InF1d3l was hired in his place. Inf was a big part of our "war room", so his philosophy on the direction of the team really didn't differ much from the previous regime. Our big focus this offseason was the draft, which we nailed! with a few first rounders, and a good mix on picks in the other rounds, we brought in I think eight new players to our prospect group? This has really helped bolster our locker room activity. As far as the SHL roster goes, we lost a few older players, so we're definitely worse than we were in our previous two seasons. It's for sure going to be a long season (I believe the casino has us at like 8.5 wins), but the future is bright due to three really solid drafts so far! Go Patriotes!

Prompt 2

The Baltimore Platoon roster in S62 is identical to S61 so in that sense I got jack shit to say about any additions or subtractions to the roster.  That being said we are full of mostly very active users and high earners and fully half the roster hasn't hit regression.  This is despite the fact that we have 2 total skaters below 1300 TPE and are coming off a season where we lost in the conference finals to the eventual champions Hamilton.  We're only getting stronger and that's reflected with our 2-1 casino odds to win it all this season.  Getting back to my personal feelings about the team and this season I fully expect us to continue to be a powerhouse.  Anything less than a division win paired with a deep playoff push has to be considered a disappointment in Baltimore.  To quote Drake.  We started from the bottom now we here.

Prompt 1 -

Being where I am in my career, I would be on defense for the up and comers. The first person to come along with me has got to me my long time D partner (until he got called up this season) Sven Svechnikov ( @steveoiscool ). Sven and I together on the back end are unbeatable, so best of luck to any forward line that wants to try and get around us. By the way, it would probably be a good time to mention that this may be a very Whalers heavy roster, but…we won the Four Star Cup together, so sue me. We proved we can be the best, so we are the best. Up front we will have the Whalers all-time leading scorer Alexis Saint-Michel ( @KenitohMenara ) on the right wing. Not much needs to be said about ASM…he is amazing, and does everything well. We will keep this Whaler run going with Makrus “The Tater” Jager ( @taterswc ) at center. How can we not have this amazing guy taking faceoffs for us? He wins all the draws, and once we have the puck it’s all over. I will finally break the Whaler run and put Greyson Cooper on the left side. After an incredible season last year, I don’t know how we couldn’t have him on the left side. Last but certainly not least, I have to go with Olof Karsikko ( @Accka ) in net. Back to my Whalers. The anchor of our championship team is the only one I would want between the pipes.

Cooper - Jager - Saint-Michel
Svechnikov - Fischermann

PROMPT 1

Nick Brain would be on the Grizzled Vets, due to his status as a part of the iconic Season 46 draft class. He would have many choices of people around his draft time for teammates, such as Jimmy Slothface, Aaron Wilson, Corey Kennedy, and Michael Scarn.

His first day with the Grizzled Vets would be spent catching up with old friends, swapping jokes about their respective careers (Nick would come in for a lot of friendly banter over his tough times playing in Winnipeg.)

Practise would be fairly routine. Veterans like these guys have the instant awareness and ability to compensate for declining athleticism. These guys know where the puck is, and know how to adapt to the modern, talent-driven game. Nick would still earn plaudits for his hard working two way game, and would likely get a slot as the second or third line winger, used on occasion to nullify the other teams best forwards.

This offseason, Buffalo has kept its roster more or less the same but did manage to snag Patrick Toes as a free agent and acquired Konstantin Selich as a GM player through the draft. Otherwise, we lost an absolute boatload of TPE to regression, which is a little sad -- there are multiple players on the team getting into the second or even third step of regression, and the first one that comes to mind for me is Monkey D. Luffy, one of our team leaders through the last several seasons. Even with this loss of talent, however, I'm optimistic about Buffalo's chances at performing well this season. We still have a significant TPE lead on most other teams in the league, and though we don't seem to have the magic mojo or whatever Hamilton works on to make their team so ridiculously good every season. I might feel differently in terms of outlook if Hamilton wins again, but that's all up to the powers that be, not me.

PROMPT 2

Austin Roenick saw big change for himself. He was on the LA Panthers and now, he no longer is with the team. Austin Roenick went to test free agency and see which team he will sign with. Only one team called Austin roenick which was a huge disappointment for other teams because they missed out on a consistent good player who is willing to sign a league min to win a championship so other teams are stupid for sure. Calgary showed that they are the best team in the league along with the best management in the league as they got a steal of a FA by getting a great player. The Calgary dragons also signed the best free agent in the SHL who is a 1800+ TPE defenseman so that is a big hit for the dragons. I think the dragons have officially ended their rebuild and now look to try and battle the 4 teams that always make it to the playoffs especially the steelhawks. The team looks great and now we see what fhm says. Hopefully good enough for at least a series win.

Toronto went through a lot of change in this past off-season. We off-loaded a few of our high contribution players due to cap concerns and locker room complaints respectively, and then brought in a few new people. I think the biggest change is going to be reflected in our management changes. KlusteR came in as the new GM after ml stepped down. It was a little bumpy, leading up to the draft, but we had known that the change was coming and I think we were able to smooth the transition rather well. The biggest challenge for our team through this season and next season is going to be picking up what slack we've allowed in the last couple of seasons as our locker room activity and attendance has dipped. Personally speaking, I've really let my activity level drop off through the playoffs and post-season. I think if we can buoy our team's activity, we can be a dark horse for making a deep cup run. We're still eyeing to make S63 our season, so we'll have to figure it out quickly!

Thanks @enigmatic, @Carpy48, @Bayley, @Ragnar, @sulovilen, & @dasboot for the signatures!

Y'know, if I'm going on any team I kind of want to go onto team Superstar. It just sounds more fun. I've been fucking around and finding out how cool it is to be on the powerplay and have 1800 TPE, but at the same time I'm only like, top 20 in TPE and I'm not even the top D-man in TPE on my team. Because of that, I gotta take it upon myself to join team Up-And-Comer. I also think there's an obvious narrative choice to take here for the rest of my roster--S55 reunion tour baby. It just makes perfect sense for a group of players just about to reach peak value to team up and light the scoresheet together. First off, for a real creme-de-le-creme top unit, it's beantown baby.

Ryu Jones - Daniil Nikiforov - Theo Kondos

Axel Foley - Rikard Bjerg

Part of the top group of TPE earners in this class also just so happen to be the fellas who are founding members of the bean movement. Also on defence you gotta be shouting out Lambert, Victory, Murphy, Baranov, Oscarsson, Thomas, and Hutton as guys who could fill out the last 4 slots. Really, just love S55 and D so this is perfect for me. At forward there's also too much to shoutout but some combination of Slate, Stromberg, Raiden, and Kristjansson filling out a top rate 2nd line would scare current SHL teams. And even then, a potential 3rd line would legit murder teams with Zakkira Diporov doing what he does best with laying the body every chance given. This whole group would be vaunted if they were to form an SHL team together.

Honestly I am still feeling as indifferent as I always have. Last season was one of my worst seasons in a long time and now regression is kicking my ass. I do not expect to be used for my HoF claim and just honestly feel very numb and indifferent to Sim Hockey League. Parity is at an all time low and as soon as I see the bracket I'll know the order like I have for damn near every season in this shitty new sim engine. I am not trying to be toxic, this is just honestly my feelings and it sucks. I do not really feel like I'll get close to HoF and since I need to go a stupid long time to grab it I just dont know if it is even worth doing it now.

I hope my team can go very far this time as winning would be nice but I usually am more focused on enjoying the regular season more than playoff results cause otherwise expect pain in any sim league eventually and I know I will not enjoy it. So yeah, same shit different season sadly.

Prompt 2:
Theo Berglund will be playing for the Regina Elk this upcoming season and things look to be continuing in the proper direction. We are continuing our rebuild as an expansion team, where we continue to hit on draft picks and build a solid core. We currently have solid forwards, defencemen and a top tier goalie, and all of them were drafted relatively highly in the previous draft, so I can see big things happening in the future for this team. I don't think that this year we will be able to do much damage in the post season, but next year and the one after that seem particularly juicy to me.

We should have 5-6 prospects hitting their SMJHL prime right around then all at the same time, and should have some other prospects who can slot into the lineup as well. This season will be more of a chance to play top minutes and continue building my skills.  172 words

Unfortunately, Christian Kinsinger would have a pretty tough time cracking the lineup of the up and comers, as a fresh S62 draftees he's still a ways behind other up and coming stars.

Fortunately, though, I do have a Hall of Fame player who would be able to find their way onto the HoF team. Chris York was a star for the Toronto North Stars, including a season where he tied for 3rd best goals in a season (36) in the STHS era, and ended up 2nd in points in a season (78). Several Dar trophies, never an MVP though. York could definitely crack the team, and without a doubt teammate #1 would be Kristian Eriksson. Former linemates in Toronto, York was a big part of the resurgence Eriksson had late in his career, and Eriksson was a big part of York's breakthrough performances. Rounding out the line on the HoF squad would be none other than Mikhail Lokitonov, another former linemate of York's in Toronto, and a player that I drafted. On defense, we'd have another Toronto legend, drafted in the same season as York. Zander Rhys. We'd round out a squad of 5 by covering the goal, and Artom Zhumbayev would be the one. He was not a part of the Toronto connection, but he played in Prince George with Loki and was a player that I drafted back then in the SMJHL.

The Philadelphia Forge are primed for a very strong season in season 62 and made a few great moves in the offseason. The first and foremost was the addition of defenseman Samuel Michaud. Michaud is a huge add that will bolster an already fairly strong defensive core. This should set the up the Forge to be one of the stingiest defensive teams in the league. The Forge also managed to re-sign one of the grittiest players in the league in Justin Keahi. Keahi is a big bodied harasser that can shake up opponents and chip in dirty goals, making him a piece that opponents will have to game plan around. The final big move the Forge made was calling up premier center Evil Albran. Albran will be looking to make a big impact in his rookie season and continue his campaign of dominance that he showed in the minors. The Philadelphia Forge are set up for a strong season and will be a team to watch for as the season goes on.
