Hello there and welcome to my first ever trade tree analysis. In today's tree analysis we will be looking at how an S59 second-rounder caused the entire class to be moved around.
(Note, all trades sorted out by earliest date, I could not find where the S59 ATL 2nd was initially traded) January 20th, 2021: Receive: Farley Hank, ATL S59 2nd[Traded to NEW] Receive: Rude Sniff March 30th, 2021: Receive: Erben Kasius, Kaapo Kampainen, NEW S59 1st[Sven Svechnikov], NEW S59 2nd[Artemius Nystrom] Receive: FR Finn-Rhys, ATL S59 2nd[Traded to ATL] April 1st, 2021: Receive: BUF S59 1st[Angus McFife XVIII] , ATL S59 2nd[Salzberger Lillehammersson] Receive: ATL S59 1st[Matej Winters] February 6th, 2022: Receive: Bas O’Bigbers, Gregory Goode, SFP S64 1st[Traded to TOR], S64 SFP 2nd[Traded to TOR] Receive: Teylora Petrov, FR Finn-Rhys Receive: S64 LAP 1st[Ashley Stubbs], S65 SFP 2nd[Traded to MAN], S65 TBB 2nd, S66 SFP 2nd, S68 NEW 2nd, Jst Maro, Dominic Montgomery February 17th, 2022: Receive: Videl Valor Receive: Artemius Nystrom, S64 BAP 1st[Godwin Lupercal] March 4th, 2022: Receive: SFP S64 1st[AJ Williams], S64 SFP 2nd[Toms Zile], S65 WPG 1st, Mika Kandinsky Receive: Ryuuji Kawashima The Same Day: Receive: S64 MAN 1st[Moritz Seider], Paul Koivu Receive: S64 NEW 1st[Chad Nickelback], Jonathan Granström, S65 SFP 2nd The crazy part about this trade tree is that Edmonton was able to create its current core and that Winnipeg got Raven out of this trade. The thing is that this trade tree will most likely get larger until whoever is selected by one of those picks many seasons down the line is not traded. Some of the biggest takeaways from the tree: 1. Edmonton's S59 core was established 2. New England got robbed several times 3. New England drafted Toronto's GM (Resulting in retirement and a rule change) 4. Atlanta landed Micool 5. Winnipeg landed Raven 6. I also got moved (TLDR: I asked out of Calgary) 6. This tree will likely continue. What have we learned from this tree? The biggest takeaway is a noticeable lack of quality in asset management by New England's GMs then and now. This brings an emphasis on the patience of player development and how good your drafting abilities are. [405 words, x2 Media]
