S66 PT #5: Hot Take Hoedown

player prompt

This was one crazy season. I had to take on the team's main goalscoring role and even more aziotasm was made by the fact that this was our title defending season. Most of the young talent was called up to the adult level, which made our team less strong but no less talented. It was a great pleasure for me to play with these players. The season developed into a divestiture, realistically taking us unlucky with a division draw because in another division we would have reached play-off games. But we must not hang our heads. In terms of the media, I got increased attention before the season, in terms of the role of goalkeepers in the team. But as the season progressed, my results weren't that shining, I couldn't help the team defend their title role 100% for everyone. The only reason the media still paid attention to me after the season was my shutout games because I was the leading goalscorer in the league in them. But it also didn't help us play even better to qualify. Now my goals are just to progress to become the Toronto team's top goalie and I hope Harry carpet and I can share game time well and lead the team to big wins.

Take 4: Hamilton will go further than Los Angeles.

This isn't even a hot take, I will back my boys. There is too much panache and pure masculine power oozed by this team for them to lose in the playoffs. The Panthers may be good, but they lack the sheer stud-like intangibles possessed by this Hamilton team. The Los Angeles team cruised through the season sure but come playoffs they will be shaking in their oversized skates along with every other team as they watch the super-powered monolith that is the steel hawks pick off their opponents with osprey-like precision. I will take it a step further and say HAM will not only out-do the panthers this post-season, but they will also sweep every team on their way to the finals where they will allow their opponents a single win purposefully to give them a false sense of hope only to crush it in their iron talons taking the next 4 games, ultimately winning at their opponent's arena which will, however, be chock-full of Steelhawks fanatics as the sheer charisma of the organization will win over every sporting fan in the nation.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Player Prompt,

After a very long season it was know that patches wanted to stay out of the eyes of the media and keep to himself for the better of his career, but we all know it’s impossible to do at time, during the play offs for patches and Yukon it was a huge meltdown seeing them lose in game 7 to a low seeded team after a great season and it was sure know that the media would be on top of them looking for excuses and why it happened, many players would keep there cool as they are talked to and patches was definitely not one of them as he smacked the mic out of the interviewers hand as he walked to the dressing room to stay away from any more confrontation with them, but they news sites knew what they were doing and got under patches skin and obtained the reaction that would make them go viral, as it took to the main stream all patches could do was watch.

Task 2:

Well I write this after having lost, but Montreal really should have blown past TOR, if not for a couple mistakes on my end that I won't be repeating in the future. TOR was carried past MTL by a hot goalie (who I believe finished the series posting a .940 save percentage), and even then it was largely luck based for Toronot.H ad I not made a simple mistake on the coaching front, I could have seen us blowing past them, as evidenced by the Game 5 blowout for the Patriotes. We definitely relished our chances against BUF in the second round, as we had won 5 games against them during the regular season, and only lost a single one. I don't think we would have had much to go for us against Atlanta though, as I believe we lost all but one game to them during the regular season, but just making it that far would have been enough.

Hockey Prompt

Take 1: More than half of the first round will be decided by sweeps
That would mean 5 of the 8 series would end in four games, I just don't see it happening. In my opinion there is only 2 series I see it happening, the Chicago and LAP one. Hamilton TPE wise shouldn't be close to a playoff team but here we are again so I expect them to win a game at least. The other series should be competitive.

Take 2: Montreal blows past Toronto and pushes for an Eastern Conference Finals appearance with only an aging Buffalo in their way.
I predicted Toronto to win for the playoffs bracket PT. Toronto on paper is a better team that underperformed, I took the over on them in the casino and they barely got that win number 38. I had them winning the division. They had a strong finish to the regular season, I don't see them losing here.

Take 5: Manhattan has a good chance to represent the East in the Challenge Cup final.
Maybe it's because I'm on the Tampa Bay Barracuda but even so that take is wild to me. Manhattan had a great season but besides Montreal they are the team I'm the least afraid of in the East this post season. Their time is not there yet but no chance they go through Atlanta.

Bonus Take: "The cup is gonna win dignity"
Nah the current defending champion brought that dignity back. I'd say only one team would bring us back to the dark age this season if they win is Buffalo. Average team on paper at beast, but the ones with the most info about FHM 8.

Take 3
I am gonna take this take here and argue against the thought that we will see more upsets in these playoffs than any before in the FHM era. We are using a new game engine and that has definitely brought about  a lot of uncertainty to teams when it comes to how to set up their lineups and how to set up their strategies and for players in how to set up their builds, as all of the old meta's and builds and ideas have been brought into question. However, I think one thing we have seen from the regular season, the teams with more tpe are still going to do better overall than those with less. There weren't any major surprises in the regular seasons, maybe a few irregularities, but nothing wild so don't think the playoffs will be different.

Kahn on PBE Player Prompt – Folks trying to gain clout on social media can definitely be a problem for athletes and public figures in general. There is a lot of pressure on athletes to uphold a positive image, whereas random people can hide behind aliases and spew toxicity with no repercussions. I think it is important as a public figure to use your platform to call this behavior out. This approach won’t stop toxicity entirely, but it may cut down on some cases. One big sweeping change will not reduce this problem. It will take a lot of little changes like several folks calling people out and getting to the bottom of this activity. It is unfortunate that we have to tackle this issue and it is such a major one that we have to discuss it in a group setting like this, but it is smart to get to the bottom of these issues. So, I advocate we call these people out for their toxic views and let it be know it is not okay.

Quote: Written Task: Tell me about how your player deals with aggressive media or toxic fans. Are they the type to worry about what people say online? Or are they not on social media at all? Is your player constantly picking fights on Twitter and sniping at reporters in interviews? Or do you just shut all that stuff out and give "pucks in deep" style responses to reporters? (150+ words)

Marty Sanderson has taken twenty seven courses in media management, and Marty Sanderson knows how to deal with them.

"Marty, an early exit with the malamutes how are you feeling?"

"Yeah you know 200 feet, like an octopus"

"Marty, how do you prepare going into next season?"

"Yeah give it 110% every shift, everyone working together, get pucks deep and play 200 feet"

"Fantastic, any thoughts on your season as a whole?"

"Yeah proud of the boys, great group of guys here, everyone giving it 110% every night, whole group was giving it everything. I feel like I let the group down by not converting more and hoping to get more pucks on net going into next season, get all 200 feet on the ground and get the two points"

tryna make a change

Bonus Take: "The cup is gonna win dignity"

i think the cup is really going to win some dignity like when the cup wins it will win some dignity as well like dig in the nitty gritty of the itty bitties you know what i mean like maybe not to be honest i think micool @micool132 of the angus mcfife (the eighteenth by the way) variety may be the only person who really truly understands what i mean when i say the sentence that i have said before this statement. actually come to think of it i think hot dog (@hotdog) would also maybe potentially be able to decipher what it is that i am trying to say here when i say that the cup is gonna win dignity because he is pretty good with words come to think of it. and then there is @efiug fugs who will actually most definitely know what i am trying to say because he is a real gamer just like me and he really knows dignity which is what the cup is gonna win now what i really meant to say is that the cup will finally be won by a team that doesn't test sim which is why it will win dignity

Player Prompt: I deal with the aggressive media and toxic fans by simply ignoring them. If I don't know you on a personal level, then I don't have time for your opinion. If you go on twitter to slander me after a missed shot or write a 5 paragraph essay on reddit to explain the reasons why I'm over rated, I'm not going to take you seriously. Sorry, not sorry, to all those who think I take advice from users of hidden persona's with names like PuddlesOSuck and WeedLuver420. I trust myself and the coaches on Atlanta to identify weaknesses and areas of improvement in my game. Also, I don't have fingers, so operating a phone is actually impossible for me. I can't turn it on or activate the screen. That helps me stay off the internet too. So if I could give advice to all the young up and comers, it would be to just be yourself and trust yourself. Don't read into the negative criticism from keyboard coaches. Go to those you trust for help.

While Melvin has gotten very good at being able to write, mostly thanks to specialized software that he had created for him to help translate moose into English and the extra large keyboard with spell-check, he doesn't actually know a lot about what happens when people talk crap about him. To be fair, it doesn't happen often as there are a lot of rumors surrounding Melvin and something that he may have done to a football player about 15 years ago, and the fact that there is a warrant out for arrest for his "cousin" who looks suspiciously exactly like Melvin, and disappeared around the same time that Melvin arrived. Anyway, a lot of people are afraid of making Melvin angry due to the rumors, but he also just is kind of functionally illiterate and so he doesn't really read the words that are around that the trolls post and stuff online. As far as reporters go, Melvin tries to stay cordial in public, but sometimes the temper comes out, and I think the reporters are more afraid of him than he is of them.

I have the gift of hindsight to support my initial gut take of absolutely no friggin’ way Montreal blows past Toronto. From the get go, this take was never going to be a good one just because of the phrasing. “Blows past” insinuates that it would not be close. IF Montreal did win it would have had to have been a six or seven game series. From the meta angle, we know how hard it is for the lower seed to get past the higher one. Montreal is still developing their team since being inducted in the league and they are doing a very good job but they just still are not at the level to surpass teams that are on the next level of developed. What really happened in the sim is exactly what I predicted it would be. A developing Montreal squad took a pair of games from the older, more experienced team and showed the league and their fans that they are very close to taking the next step.
