What a career
#1

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
[Calgary, AB] – After an illustrious career in the SHL, Sean Gatez, renowned defenseman for the Calgary Dragons has officially announced his retirement from the ice. With a remarkable journey that took him across multiple teams, Gatez leaves behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of fans and teammates alike.

Gatez's love affair with the game began long before he first donned the Maine Timber jersey, but it was solidified there in Portland. Representing the Timber in the SMJHL, he quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with on the ice. His unwavering dedication, skill, and determination led to him to captain the squad for multiple seasons before being drafted first overall by the LA Panthers, marking the start of an exceptional professional career.

Throughout his time in the SHL, Gatez experienced the highs and lows that are characteristic of any athlete's journey. From the exhilaration of winning a cup with the team that drafted him first overall, to the challenges of being traded multiple times, Gatez navigated each twist and turn with resilience and professionalism. The transition from the Panthers to the Manhattan Rage, and subsequently to Hamilton, Edmonton, and finally ending his career with the Calgary Dragons, provided him with valuable experiences and an opportunity to leave an indelible mark on each organization he represented.

Gatez humbly credits his success to the support and camaraderie of his teammates over the years. From the shared victories on the ice to the bond forged in the locker room, he acknowledges the vital role his fellow players played in shaping his career and fostering an environment of growth and achievement.

As he embarks on the next chapter of his life, Gatez expresses his heartfelt gratitude to the entire SHL community, including fans, coaches, management, and the league itself, for their unending support throughout his career. Recognizing that the SHL has provided him with opportunities beyond his wildest dreams, Gatez intends to give back to the community in his retirement by starting a charity for the food unstable kids in Maine. No child should wonder where their next meal is coming from. Gatez wants kids from all backgrounds to have access to healthy fruits, vegetables, and grains year round.

In a bold and exciting move, Gatez plans to open a bar in Portland, Maine, where it all began for him. This venture will not only allow him to remain connected to the game he loves but also provide a space for fans and fellow players to gather, celebrate, and create lasting memories.

Gatez's retirement marks the end of an era in the SHL. His unparalleled dedication, remarkable achievements, and tireless spirit have left an indelible impression on the league and its fans. As he bids farewell to his playing career, the hockey world eagerly anticipates the next chapter in Sean Gatez's journey.

My first draft pick as an SHL GM. Man, it has been an honor to watch your career grow and unfold. You have been a stellar member of not just our locker room, but the SHL community as a whole. Superbly excited to see how your new career unfolds. Thank you for everything you gave to Los Angeles and for being such an overwhelmingly positive person to interact with <3
