Uhh… Aliens? Oh boy, this should be interesting. To be completely honest, I am technically an alien since I was born in space. Despite descending from humans from planet earth, I may still be considered as such. Maybe we can bond over that and get along. I just hope these aliens are friendly.

Turns out, they are! This will be totally fun getting to teach these aliens this wonderful sport. Maybe one day they can even join the league. That would honestly be so much fun. I hope they like it as much as we do on earth. I taught them some basics. Positions, rules, skills needed to be successful. Tomorrow, we’re going to work on how to skate. Thankfully these aliens have two feet so we can give them some traditional skates. Would’ve sucked if they were like squids or something. Really excited to see how this goes and to the start of a wonderful friendship playing Ho’kii!

PLAYER PROMPT

You do not have to get ready for training camp if you stay ready. Krou is definitely NOT doing that. He did not care at all during the offseason. He showed up to the pre training camp obligations overweight, with a beer gut, and a thick beard. Yet, old man has not slowed down yet. Age is but a number, until the training is over, when all joints start hurt badly. Which is why he is now on a strict regiment, trying to lose around 30 pounds by opening night, so he can play his last couple of seasons without any serious injuries. I mean, medicine in the 2080s has evolved to a point that an ACL tear has a recovery period of a few hours, but being in bad shape has remained the same. After a while, you just lose that edge you had speedwise, due to your joints being damaged from the excessive weight you put on.

Philippe eko eel does not take pre season all that seriously. he doesn't read too much into preseason results and views it as a chill casual way to get the ol' muscles flexing again. he is a strong believer that team camaraderie will carry more weight through the season than any strategic tactics worked out in preseason, so he uses the preseason to bond with teammates and help build that communal energy to progress throughout the season. some other players on the team take it seriously, such as angus mcfife xviii and shoyo hinata. those guys tend to get irked when eel is goofing off instead of focusing during practice drills, but they know eel is the future of the franchise so they recognize they'll have to pass the torch at some point. word is Eel has plenty of ins with the coaching staff of Atlanta so he's always had a strong understanding of how he'll get utilized tactically in the upcoming season.

PLAYER PROMPT -

Preseason is here. Hockey is finally back. Lord Raiden is entering his 16th season with the Baltimore Platoon. I would like to think he has this process down pat like a well oiled machine. During the offseason he trains hard and keeps a pretty strict diet. He thinks the diet is even more important now since he is getting older. He has to keep his body in top shape all year round. Training Camp is the perfect time to get back on the ice and knock off the dust. Raiden takes preseason very seriously. It is the time to get your mind back in game shape. Also Raiden, hopefully elected team Captain again, leads by example. He takes his role as Captain very seriously and it starts in the offseason and then it continues in preseason whenever he enters the building. He knows his time left in the game is limited so every second matters and he will make the most of them.

Player Prompt:

Matiss takes every hockey game seriously and plays it like it’s his last game ever, no matter if it is the preseason or game 7 of the cup final. Since Matiss is still a young player in the league he's always trying to prove himself that he belongs here and can be a great player. Matiss is always working out and training so that he can stay in shape for training camp. Doing this he will always be able to give 100% for his team once training camp opens for the season. Matiss wants to be the player that his team can count on when the game matters and he can be put out in the clutch situations to take his team to the next level. To do that he feels that he needs to go all out for all games from preseason till the end. So Matiss is a player that his team does not need to worry about giving 100% or not because he will.

In academic terms? They're hardly equipped or qualified for the sport. Now that's not to say the whole endeavour was promising enough for there was much talking about biological matters and circumstances, easily a moment that should benefit the human race as a whole but when very unfruitful when it came to the sport of hockey. The real downside of the whole thing was that they were very insisting that the details shared between both parties were not to be disclosed to humanity as a whole for it would shock their entire world... their words, of course, not mine.

As for the game itself, the main issue was trying to teach them how to skate. They had two legs and all but they seemed to struggle with the concept of equilibrium. Thankfully, they were surprisingly resilient in both spirit and physicality, to the point where even the hardest of slams didn't affect them much if at all. Wouldn't recommend it.

There's only one way to teach aliens about the spirt of hockey in a comprehensive manner while also exposing them to some in depth bits of culture along the way...don cherry. Not only will he be able to enthusiastically call the plays and explain to the aliens why the good ol ontaria boy is a great player despite putting up atrocious stats, but he can accurately represent the level of racism and misogyny present in the sport even today. It will also give the aliens a very important lesson on the fashion faux pas of sports broadcasting. And of course, who could forget his fellow coaches corner Ron, who holds the roll of correcting Don and making sure he doesnt fly too far off the rails... Ron will be the real source if knowledge here for the aliens, but Don Cherry will provide the entusiasm needed for them to stay interested in the story and history along the way.

John Brown explains to the extraterrestrials that the way hockey is played is relatively simple. There are two groups of six players each playing against each other. The sport is played on a solid surface of ice usually with skates or blades on their feet to glide on the ice. The two teams must each battle for a cylindrical rubber "puck" on the ice, and must fight to put that puck into a specific area of their opponent's ice. There is a net set up with metal piping on each team's side of the ice and the puck must go into that net. Teams use long wooden sticks with curved blades on the end to carry the puck along the ice, so it slides smoothly from one end to the other. Teams can hit each other and get in the way to make it difficult on each other. It can be a very physical and conflict driven sport.

PLAYER PROMPT - Preseason Prep

Jeff's preseason prep is mostly about fixing his mindset from the summer and last season. The offseason is to train and prepare physically, and the preseason is where he can truly be ready for the grind ahead. Last season was not one to look fondly over from a winning perspective and that isn't looking likely to change here, but there's an opportunity to shine on the brightest stage once again like he did in his rookie year, and turn this underdog roster into a dark horse for playoff contention. A clean slate is always nice, but Jeff needs to remember how it felt when they were eliminated from contention last season, and channel that energy to not let it happen again. In terms of effort during the meaningless preseason games, Jeff sees the value in practicing his newly acquired skills each season, and wants to show the coaches and himself that he is cementing himself among the elite offensive players in the league.

Aliens -

Luckily my player met the one any only Narboza Manyhands many years ago so his experience with the idea is more familiar then to it would be to most. After all team Ireland was training on a ship enhanced with alien technology for many years. Teaching them actually wouldnt be that hard because of an amazing human invention: youtube. All we would have to do is work on communicating with eachother. and then from there we would be able to just show them a bunch of how to play hockey youtube videos. I expect they wouldnt actually be that good at the game in the end, unless their world also happens to contain a canada. Maybe thats where canadians came from in the first place so who knows. Maybe Gretzky was like superman but of the canadian aliens and then when the rest show up all of our current hockey players will be out of jobs.
