S73 PT#5: I'm Gonna Win The Cupyright

Bernard Lodge would be pretty crushed if he was traded from NOLA. He made the move up from Maine in the Juniors with the understanding that he would quickly become the team's franchise goaltender for the rest of a hopefully long career. He has loved his time with the team, his own skills growing alongside the young defense that the GMs of the Specters have built in front of him. However, that isn't to say that he wouldn't do his best with his new team if he did get traded. Lodge would do his best to learn as much as he could about the skaters in front of him in order to acclimate to the new team as quickly as possible. He would also make sure to put his best effort in to making sure he has a phenomenal career, making NOLA regret ever dealing him away. At the end of the day though, Lodge doesn't see a trade out of NOLA happening at any point, and is looking forward to his future there very much.

So the day has finally come huh? The Great JOHNNY FourStar has been traded to another team! Why would someone do this? What purpose would it serve? That's no matter. He's gotta start figuring out the new system. The first step is a meeting with the coaches. What's the deal with this new system? What's the objective? What is my role on this team? Next stop is to talk to some of the veterans of the team. How have you succeeded in this system? What's the secret to being a great player on this team? Step three is to watch the tape. Let's learn a bit about where to be, what to do, and how that differs from the last team I was on. Finally, we're gonna go to practice and try out what we've learned. Where do I excel? What things do I need to spend a little time working on? After some time, good old Johnny FourStar will surely be accustomed to this new team and new style of play.

Written Task: The press interviewed your kids for their thoughts on the upcoming international tournament, and the responses were predictably heartwarming and cute. Unfortunately, your captain concluded his interview by saying "I'm gonna win the cup". @micool132 has filed a copyright lawsuit against your sponsor nation, citing his existing and long-standing trademark of that phrase with regards to professional hockey. What is your legal defense?

The legal defense DuBølk takes is... none. In court, he goes in and immediately tries to tank his case. He is successful, and he immediately pays micool the requested damages and begs for his forgiveness. This seems like DuBølk folding under slight pressure, but it is actually a part of his tithe to micool. You see, micool is his god; his light; his knight in shining armor. If he is hungry, DuBølk offers his flesh. If he wants a gold-rimmed jetski, DuBølk will buy it, no questions asked. To DuBølk, his happiness comes far after micool's. To DuBølk, his service to micool goes to achieve one purpose; for him to win the cup. Despite DuBølk's attempts to alter the SHL's records to have him on every cup winning team ever, he gets escorted out each time, with severe threats to his playing career. If it comes to that and he has to play beer league for the rest of his life, he will do so, for it is micool's will to win the cup.

How do you learn any system? You eat tape, you draw on the whiteboard, and you lace up the skates. Marton ain't gonna miss the latest Survivor episode but there are plenty of hours in the day to watch clips of his new team on whatever kind of press or cycle or breakout they got going.

Hell, the harder part is just learning everybody's names. Used to be you just had to know the first syllable of every last name, and then add a Y. But these days, the nicknames are too damned complicated. A lot are still just the name with some newfangled addition like -ER or -STER or stupid -DOG. But then sometimes you have to call a dude EARTOOTH because of some locker room story that happened three seasons ago and no one is going to be kind enough to retell it and it wasn't even that funny but now it's your problem to remember Eartooth cuz God forbid we just call him Porty.

The only course of action for the team would be to win the championship. There is no other way to defend the statement than proving it to be true. To do that we are going to recruit a couple more kids for the team that are already playing pro. We will take the pros and dress them up as kids. There is not way that anyone would notice because they will play on their knees. It’s a fool proof plan that cannot be beaten.  Our next strategy would be to put clear plastic wrap over the goal. This will deflect any pucks from going in that are missed by our goalie. The final thing we will do is to train the kids to be faster than the other teams. Speed kills and we are gonna prove that by skating circles around the other team all game. They will be too tired to catch up with us and we will take advantage of that and score many goals.

Written Task: If your player got traded to a new team, how would they go about adjusting and learning the new system?

Pengu likely just wouldn't react to be traded at all. As a penguin, he would never really understand the concept of being moved from one team to another. He would likely just keep showing up to do physical training and to get fed just like he does every day in his normal routine. Afterall he just showed up one day at the Syndicate arena and they threw pads on him and let him play. Its all he's ever known and for as long as he could remember, he's just shown up, done what gets him fed, and repeat. As such when he was informed he was traded, he'd just stare down the GM expectingly for more fish. Maybe if his new GM showed up and baited him away with tasty treats he could get used to showing up at a different arena to play, but habits are hard to break and Chicago is home and so he'd continue to just be a member of the Syndicate organization.

If my player got traded to another team in the simulation hockey league my reaction depends on a multitude of factors. First it depends on if the trade was mid season or in the off season. Off season trades are way easier to handle and adapt to as you have months to get used to a new team. Whereas with a trade during the season you have to figure it out right away otherwise people are going to act like the trade was lost. Additionally if you asked for a trade I am sure you would adapt much easier vs a trade you did not want, it would be way more emotional and harder to make the necessary changes. I have been involved with both of these types of trades and actually when I was traded from Hamilton to New England in the offseason it was horrific but when New England traded me to Buffalo during the season it was great. I’ve also been involved in a trade from New England to Hamilton in the off season and that was also great. Hard to make such a generalized statement honesty.

If my player got traded to a new team he would be very confused as he has many friends on the team and loves to play hockey so much that it would hurt his feelings. he would first learn about the brand new city he's been traded to, trying some new foods and new restauraunts, then get aquainted with their uber eats offerings so he can know what the go to is when he wants to stay in. THen he would meet some of the new players on his team that will be his new teammates and good friends. Tommi gets along well with people usually so hopefully the news team will enjoy his presence and be his good buddy while he gets adjusted. Then he would go to the stadium and look around and shee what is up and who his coaches and owners and stuff are. He willl be sad to leave Hamilton Steelhawks but he will do what he can to win for his tema.

my legal defense is pretty simple in this case since i am the general manager of the franchise for which @micool132 plays - he played there on his last player (Nathan Explosion btw) and he has played with us for a long while (since S59 in fact) on his current player, named Angus McFife XVIII. micool is an atlanta man through and through, he is essential to our team and we would be nothing without him. in this instance, however, we can declare that as a lifelong atlanta member, everything of micool's actually belongs to us. so "i'm gonna win the cup" is as much an atlanta phrase as it is a micool phrase :invisimon: and since i'm the owner and creator and current proprietor and general manager of atlanta that means that I actually am the rightful owner of this phrase! goldenglutes @goldenglutes in theory has a partial claim to the phrase but he fell asleep and is IA and doesn't host the cube bot for us so we lose in playoffs now
