I do think this is true, but because it preys upon people who are in need of an escape from reality. You can pour so much time in to these leagues and get nothing back, and it can all disappear in an instant. Knowing all of this I'm still here 6 years later so... idk make of that what you will.

I agree CalTroit. However i Do Think You can say this about Any Hobby, Vice, Game, Movie, TimeSuck.... The Best Thing About SHL Is That it does not require anything from you, except your time, and the trade off is the lore and endless entertainment.
