Elwulf grabs the next log and places it on the block. Gripping the axe, he gives a big swing. Thwack. The log splits and falls over into the pile. It wasn't much, but splitting wood helped him calm his nerves. After all, this day could change his entire life.

From a young age all he dreamed about was playing professional hockey. But he was always told he would never make it. "You're too small. Why would you play defense? You will never make it with the big boys." Those were just some of the things he was told growing up. But he wouldn't let them keep him down.

Even if he was smaller, he knew he could use that to his advantage. Size could be made up with good positioning and good smarts. He worked out everyday to get faster and stronger on the puck. Never afraid, Elwulf would battle with everyone to make sure he earned his place. Nothing was ever given.

And now, today, he waited to get the call. His nerves were getting to him so he had come outaide to cut more wood for the stove. It wasn't glorious, but it was calming. All he could do was wait and hope.

Elwulf picked up another log and placed it on the block. This was his chance to make his dreams come true and he couldn't wait for it all to start.
