S56 PT #1 - Crossover

Ryan Shepard is quite athletic overall. In the summer he plays various sports for fun and is able to pick up most with ease and be average average in most. Will this carry over into another professional league is another level, however. If he switched over to the PBE for baseball I think he would be best suited as an outfielder. With minimal experience he would be weak at infield, and definitely not a good pitcher or catcher. He would have no issue running and diving to catch balls as needed and ripping them back in. Although serviceable at defense, his batting would be a large question mark. Never really seeing any breaking balls from the batter’s box would really hurt and take a long time to get used to. He does have great eye-hand coordination, so connecting on fastball even at high 90s MPH should be doable. I think with all this said he would be a relatively average PBE player fitting in near the bottom of the hitting order.

Slip McScruff would cross over into professional wrestling which is in fact a real sport.  The WWE was looking for celebrity athletes to make guest appearances to drum up interest and Slip McScruff was an obvious choice.  His long history of being a highly physical blue liner has conditioned his body to take and deliver massive, overly dramatic hits (gotta sell it to the ref).  Normally a professional sports team would not let one of their star players put their body on the line in the middle of a season, but the Jets were also in need of drumming up some interest.

Speculation began when Slip was spotted training with Chris Jericho at a private gym in Winnipeg and the appearance was officially confirmed soon after on Friday Night Smackdown when Slip showed up to challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at Hell in a Cell.  Although Reigns is already slated to fight Jey Uso in the Hell in a Cell match, the WWE added Slip in to make it a three way title match.  The odds of Slip walking out of there with the belt are slim to none since he has to get back to the SHL, but you never know what will happen in that cell.

Some rumors even say that Slip McScruff may be the retired luchador, El Scruffo, who "retired" just as Slip joined the SHL.  If there is any truth to those rumors, Slip's crossover appearance at Hell in a Cell may be the match of the night.

Even though American Football isn't particularly popular in Europe, let alone Scandinavian countries, I think Taylor Johansson could actually be a decent WR in the ISFL. Johansson possesses elite speed and change of direction on the ice. This could easily translate over into the slot as a wide receiver or even a pass catching back out of the backfield. He seems like the type of player that could turn a short gain into a touchdown just by getting the ball into his hands. I also think that Taylor's puck handling and stick checking meshing with his high offense and defensive awareness could be great for a cornerback. He would be able to use his speed and quick change of direction to stay with receivers and a high football IQ could lead to a lot of pass deflections and interceptions. If he took his talents to the PBE I think he would be a great leadoff hitter and center fielder. Just let him track some flyballs.

Akil Ozzymandias, rookie running back of the ISFL’s Myrtle Beach Buccaneers, would be a force to reckon with in the SHL. Standing at 6’2” and 230 lbs, he would be a premiere power forward in the league. He already has the tremendous compete level and is used to shrugging of hits from linebackers, most SHL defenders wouldn’t stand a chance. It may take a season to develop his skating skills, but stick him in front of a net and nobody would out battle him. Not only is Akil an incredible athlete, but he is also an intellectual one. He finished his senior year at Stanford, graduating before entering the draft. His study of the game would allow him to easily adapt to his new role. He would potentially be a Manuel Gotze like player. Someone who would play the body any chance he gets, constantly forecheck down low, and crash the net on every rush. Thankfully for the SHL he has a promising career in the ISFL.

Thomas Passmann is my Satanic wise receiver character in ISFL. After a much more Southern career, with tenures in Tijuana (Mexico) and Arizona, he would likely want to stick to a warm climate and sign with a team like New Orleans, Atlanta, or Tampa. I don’t even think he knows how to skate though so I am not sure he would do too well; has he ever even seen snow? Debatable. If he could magically know how to skate, his killer speed would probably translate well to the fast paced game play of the SHL. He is agile, and he has great hands for catching passes from his quarterback, so I am sure that stickhandling would be one of his best attributes in the ice. His dexterity and deftness are the envy of the entire league, and those would probably be his best features that he could offer. While both sports are physical, they really don’t have much else in common though, so despite all his athleticism I am not sure Passmann would have a great season in the SHL.

So hockey doesn't workout, what does Justin Keahi do? Simple, he goes and plays competitive quidditch, a real sport when compared to hockey. Quidditch is a highly competitive and physical game, something that Keahi thrives on. If he can lay the pick hits on the ice, he'll lay the big hits out on the field with a second broom between his legs. Just running around a field, trying to grab a tennis ball hanging from some dude's shorts. Keahi could be a force in the international scene, as well as the adult leagues in the United States. The real money would be made in the QPL in the United Kingdom and parts of Europe. Keahi could dominate on any of the seventeen teams in the league, quite possibly being the Gretzky of professional quidditch. So if the on ice career of Justin Keahi fails, he can always fall back to running around playing a fictional game turned real over seas.

Grandmaster Funk was a proficient soccer player in his youth, a member of the Republic of Ireland national under-17 football team at age 15 before taking to hockey full-time.
The increased time spent on footwork has done wonders for Funk's skating, as he's one of the more mobile and agile defenders in the SMJHL. In addition to footwork,
Funk employs a soccer-style defense on the ice, using his body and stick to block a skater's path and strip the puck. This cerebral defensive strategy has turned Funk into
a shot blocking and defensive machine, as he is currently posting the 7th highest defensive grade in the SMJHL in line with 20 shots blocked in just 12 games.

While Funk has been contributing at a significant click offensively, he believes that the offensive area of his game still has plenty of room to grow.

As Funk is currently on pace for about 33 points on the season, a stark improvement on the 9 points he amassed in his rookie campaign, it's safe to say he's already
showcasing the growth he's been making offensively.

Disisde Dayudie is a trained kendo master, so of course he chose to head to the Kendo world championships when this whole two sports rule came into place. I don't know why the SHL HO decided that we need to play two sports to be eligable for the major league, but it is what it is. Most players decided to go with chess, because they want to preserve all of their energy for hockey. Disisde Dayudie aint no quitter though, If you dont sweat, it doesn't count! So off to the International Kendo League, IKL. Not only did Disisde Dayudie do good, he did great. In the end there weren't any worthy opponents and Disisde easily took home all the trophies on every competition. His superb skill with the sword made him doubt why he should also play hockey, then he realised that there is a lot more money involved in the sport played on ice. If this was the 10th century then he could've become very famous handling a sword, today? Not so much.

Since coming to America and joining the SHL Jakub Bruchevski has made a lot of friends, including friends that play in different sports leagues around the country. Recently he became friends with Jay Kane, rookie third baseman of the Sarasota Supernovas, with baseball not being very popular in Russia Jakub didn't know much about baseball but Jay was willing to fill him in. Due to Jakub's competitive nature he convinced Jay to teach him the basics. First came the batting cages, while Jakub has great hand eye coordination he's not used to hitting balls out of the air coming at him over 90 mph. After a few weeks Jakub got the hang of it but the seasons were starting up for both Jakub and Jay and they went their separate ways vowing to meet back up in the offseason. Since then Jakub has done normal baseball drills which has lead him to find out he could be a very talented outfielder due to his speed and quickness and also good coordination at the plate. But his aggressiveness at the plate means he swings at almost every pitch he sees and is known to try to start fights on the field.

Panda Panico decided to leave the SHL this past season for the NFL. With his good top speed, large size, and quick acceleration. He quickly found himself a spot on the Buffalo Bills as a tight end. While this was quite surprising for a lot of people. Panico actually spent four years in high school playing football in conjunction with hockey. This allowed him to already have a good bit of knowledge for what he needed to do in the NFL. Unfortunately, his ability to catch the football have gone to complete shit because he spends all day everyday holding a hockey stick, and not catching anything. However, everything else that has to do with hockey, has allowed him to excel. Quick acceleration, a great ability at changing direction, and being able the defense hard and fast. There is still a lot to learn for this new Panda Panico, but things are looking up. Learning how to catch a football is quite easy, and will just take a bit of practice.

If Ambacas Cuddles were to play another sport, it would have to be basketball. Ambacas Cuddles is monstrously tall, standing at 7 feet 8 inches. With the sheer size of Ambacas Cuddles, he could probably make a pretty nasty center. With this being said, Ambacas Cuddles decided to play a season over in the Simulation Basketball Association. He actually did really well, really showing the world that hockey players are the best athletes in the world. Cuddles lead the entire league in offensive and defensive rebounds. He also scored at a pretty decent clip, finishing off some dirty plays under the basket. He didnt shoot much as that was definitely the weakest area of his game, but he made up for it with his spectacular rebounding skills. He was a major difference maker and he had the best possession metrics in the league by far. Maybe Ambacas Cuddles will have to actually switch sports.

Former USA Fed Head, Carolina Kraken Co-GM, Tampa Bay Barracuda GM

Joseph Weston may not be the most coordinated player on the ice, but he has a lot of heart and plays to the best that he can whenever he can. Playing other sports like basketball or soccer leads to him tripping over his own ankles when they don't slide or glide on a surface. It doesn't really go well when Joseph Weston tries to dribble up the court or down the field, so instead Joseph Weston focuses on being the best football player he can be. This means that Joseph Weston is willing to run the routes necessary and as fast as possible, even without having the greatest hands on the field. He may drop a pass or two, but he gets that route run as fast as anyone can possibly imagine. After all it's all about speed sometimes, so better to learn the one thing you need to do for the sport.

Poopity Scoop is a great hockey player, channeling the inner energy of Kanye West to unleash his incredible defensive play upon his scared opponents. But now you are saying he must try another sport and it is now time to ask poopity Scoop which sport he will try. So he said he will try to play basketball because he is very tall boy. So when he plays basketball, he is very bad. Though he is tall and can dunk, he does not know how to dribble and it is such a sad sight. He also is very bad defensively, he just gets too many fouls so he is basically useless. He will take lessons from LeBron James to learn how to be a better basketball player since he is tall so he can be good if he just works. He has been doing many dribbling drills with the children who are also learning about basketball. He is on his way to becoming basketball champion.
