Good evening, SHL.

It has come to the attention of the SHL Head Office that user @~~Mike Izzy~~ has recently been in violation of the rules. This falls under the SHL Rulebook, Section 2, Subsection J, Rule 4, which states the following:

Personal attacks, excessive/malicious trolling, spamming, language/rhetoric that includes hate speech (ex. racism, homophobia, ableism), or any comments made that belittle members of a certain religious, ethnic, or oppressed group will not be tolerated

Private messages were shown to head office in which Mike both harassed and discriminated against a user. Due to the sensitive nature of the messages we have decided to opt not share the content of them, but the evidence will be shared with Mike, and the appeals committee should they request it.

As a result of this rule, Head Office is handing out the following punishment:

- A 1 week forum ban for Mike which will conclude at Midnight EST February 13th, along with a 3 game player suspension to be served by #A-Rye Izzy starting on Monday’s simulation.

As always, Mike is welcome to appeal the decision to any member of the appeals committee, this committee currently consists of TommySalami, Vandy, Grok and RomanesEuntDomus as well as the owners.

EDIT: Below is the response to the appeal for this punishment as concluded by the Appeals Committee
I.
To preface, we apologize for any ambiguity in our description of events. Head Office has chosen to release a minimal amount of the details of this case publicly due to their sensitive nature. We choose to respect that decision in this appeal, and will focus on the larger scope rather than the detail when communicating our decision to the SHL public.

Head Office claims that Mike Izzy sent multiple inappropriate messages with discriminatory content to members of the Head Office team. These messages were shared with the Appeals team, and we confirmed their contents matched Head Office’s description of events. Mike Izzy’s appeal did not contradict or deny the contents of his messages to the Head Office team. Following appeal, we believe Mike Izzy’s comments toward Head Office were inappropriate and rise to the level of a conduct violation, regardless of Mike Izzy’s claimed reasons for making them.

III.
When reviewing the sentence, we agree that one week and three games is an acceptable sentence duration. Izzy’s actions meet the description of a conduct violation in the rulebook, and the sentence assigned by Head Office is among the lowest that can be given for a conduct violation. We believe a brief suspension is appropriate in these circumstances.
