For the New Orleans Specters' opening ceremony and game against the Los Angeles Panthers, Specters ownership decided on one thing: there must be real, "live" ghosts at the opening ceremony. So, for said ceremony, the Specters' management team had multiple very willing civilians murdered and turned into ghouls, specters, and all sorts of other types of spectral beings for the game. Of course, in return, these peoples' families were given a hefty sum of money in return for their loved ones' lives. The management team then had these innocently murdered people handing out gumbo, jambalaya, po-boys, and countless different kinds of sea food - for free - to all players, fans, staff members, etc. in attendance at the game. In the middle of the 8-5 blowout by the Panthers, several police officers raided the arena, causing a stoppage in the game that lasted for an hour. Unfortunately, many members of the team's upper management were arrested and brought in for questioning on behalf of their killing of New Orleans natives. General managers JKortesi and Pythonic declined to comment on this matter.

Going into his now third season in the Simulation Major Junior Hockey League playing for the Colorado Raptors, winger Jolmi Koivu has much to think about. He had a pretty eventful offseason, during the offseason he ended up getting dropped by the Simulation Hockey League team that drafted him 11th overall two seasons ago now the Calgary Dragons. This led to him being picked up and signed by the Hamilton Steelhawks. This season is very important for Jolmi Koivu, as it now becomes a prove it season. Jolmi sets out to prove that he is worthy of a roster spot for an SHL team, and he intends to ball out to prove everyone else wrong. He also intends to continue his steady progression as a star in the Simulation Major Junior Hockey League. Last season Jolmi Koivu proved his worth to the Raptors organization by not just being an on ice producer, but by being and off the ice leader to the younger players on the team while also maintaining and increasing his level of dominance on the ice.

Player Prompt

Tomas wants to get back out on the ice. For the first time in his SHL career he is playing on a team that is not predicted to finish in the bottom of the standings and might actually have a chance to advance in the playoffs. The team has seen some changes in the latter part of S65 and off-season going into S66 with the addition of Lebedev, Svechnikov, Bayley and Shimizu-Okoli to boost the defense and allow for the offense to start producing up to their potential. The younger players have been slowly building their strengths to face a new league with former power houses like Texas and Hamilton seeing some tougher years to come and Tomas feels like this is the start of a great period for Manhattan. Hopefully with his play on the ice, Tomas will be able to teach the youngsters a thing or two before his steady decline to retirement.

Tom Holberg was always a big fan of fireworks. So when he heard that the owner of the Hamilton Steelhawks green lit his big fireworks display for opening night, he was really excited. He went to the arena and bought a bunch of fireworks from some shady Russian guy. However, Tom did not know how to set the firework display up himself, he hired the russian guy to set them off. The Russian set them all off at once. But the fireworks were so big and so loud that they set the arena on fire. The fire quickly spread and before long, the whole arena was engulfed in flames. People were running everywhere, trying to get away from the fire. But Tom just stood there and watched as the arena burned to the ground. He was so happy that he got to see the fireworks display, even though it ended up burning the arena down.

We are going to have the most aweosme opening night ever. It is going to be so cool and there is going to be so much good stuff. We are going to have a big parade of all of our players and a bunch of really cool acrobats and street performers just doing cool hockey things while all the citizens of Buffalo watch. I want to organize a big fighter jet show that flys over the city and does a lot of really cool tricks and things that just makes things people oooh and ahhh. I think it all should be organized and synced to the music of the queen. That would be so cool and I think it would make for a really cool introduction to the new season. The Buffalo Stampede are going to have a great season and they are going to have a lot of fun this year doing some great things in the SHL! Buffalo is a great city that has a lot of amazing fans and I am very excited to see what this season brings.

It's opening night at the Big Oil Arena, fans are pouring in excited to see the new additions that will lead them in the future. Edmonton fans know the team isn't going to be good next season, not at all, but the acquisition of MVP level player Bas O'Bigbers and the emergence of long time top prospect Rand al'Thor finally arriving has everybody excited for the season. It'd be a tough couple of years and fans were largely torn between the decision to blow up the core. Pasta the Turtle jerseys still dominated the stands with many other fantastic players not soon to be forgotten. The generally feeling amongst the fans, the atmosphere if you would is one of acceptance though. They can't change the past and know their team is going to get obliterated this season. All they can do is hope for growth and be excited for the future. Before the game, a call to each and every season ticket holder is held to explain to them the decisions made this offseason and invite them to center ice to meet the players and drop the ceremonial first faceoff. So begins the season.

“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. ... There are neither beginnings nor endings to the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.”

Ketil is focused before he gets on the ice for the first time. He's been training hard, learning to use his physicality more than he had previously, and was ready to play. He'd been on this team for 2 seasons already, both unremarkable, failed seasons. He was ready to change that, any way he could. He wanted to win, he wanted to score and he wanted to win the Cup before he was called on to go to the big leagues.

Everything he'd been sweating for was finally here, and he was ready to embrace it. The thunder of the Vancouver crowd, and the adrenaline of skating at breakneck speeds; all fueled him to go harder. He was ready. As soon as the puck dropped, he was a different person, hungrier, dedicated, and fierce.

This was the Whalers' season, and he knew it. He was ready to absolutely demolish the opposing teams and that's exactly what he was going to do.

Creative prompt

The Los Angeles Panthers seasons have started the same since the early fifties. The living team mascot Chadwick, a panther who spends his days at the Los Angeles - Venice Beach Zoo, (safely) carries a (fake) flame through the concourse, setting off a torch lighting a la the Olympics which have been held in LA multiple times now. While the spectacle has gotten some flack from animal rights activists in recent years, it's a special opportunity to raise money for the species, allows for Chadwick to get out and stretch his legs, and put the spotlight on endangered species conservation. While this likely won't be a permanent fixture for the franchise, it's a unique and fun aspect that not many teams have the capacity to replicate. Jimmy Wagner, a fan of the spectacle and of zoo conservation efforts, has put a lot of money into the project because of his nickname and the smiles it puts on the faces of kids.

To kick off this season the New Orleans Specters are going to bring the mascot of every team to the arena and have them do a 1 versus 1 tournament until only one of the 20 mascots are left. The mascots will be randomly placed into the bracket and forced to fight in the middle of center ice sumo match style (just meaning that the goal is to get the other out of the center ice circle). The winning team will be given a free goal against the New Orleans Specters in the first game they play against them. However, if the Specter wins the deal is for every team to give the Specters a free goal.

Fans who attend will be given a free T shirt that reads "I watched the Mascot Super Slam" and a free beer. And fuck it if you come that early, you can have a free hot dog or burger as well. The show is gonna take like 3 hours so might as well give em some free food.

In the land of New York, you have to go huge to really make any noise on the scene. There is just so much to do around here.

However, management has seen some consistencies at play here. You're either a sports fan or not, and so there is no changing that ultimately. Nobody is going to suddenly buy a ticket because they saw that some band is going to perform a couple songs before the puck drop. If you don't want to watch hockey, that cost just isn't worth it. Plus, ultimately, the team has been pretty bad lately and is just turning a corner toward profits so the budget really didn't grow much year to year.

This is a team that has been around for a long time, has a dedicated fan base, and at this point is handling a PR nightmare as they watch a top young defenseman again choose Chicago over them. Realistically, the best we can do for the fans is give them an opportunity to let out some frustrations, not throw a party that we've had it rough and also lost top picks now.

So we'll go for a more muted opening ceremony. Maybe we'll get one of those old cars and sledgehammer kind of things, let people paint it, smash it, let it all out. It's been a hard few years in Manhattan, but we can let it out now and move forward into the better times.

An old man's dream ended. A young man's vision of the future opened wide. Young men have visions, old men have dreams. But the place for old men to dream is beside the fire.

GOING DOWN IN STYLE. TOAST4LYFE

Code:
Written Task:  Tell me what's going through your players head at this last moment, seconds before their first shift after a long off-season. Are they nervous? Excited? Maybe stressed? Are there specific people or moments that come to their mind? Do they need to settle down in a moment like this to play their best? If so, how? Or are you the type of player with ice in your veins that thrives in exciting moments like this?

It is the first shift of the season, but one thing is ALWAYS on Krou's mind. What he is going to do after the game. He always shows a disinterest for the game. People thing he is just calm. But he does not care about it. He only plays hockey because he can make money out of it. So all he focuses on is the list of girls on his DMs, and who he is going to meet up with after the game. Or whether he will go to the stripclub or not. He knows for a fact that the night will end with him and a woman in his bed. He is a serial womanizer, and that will probably end up being his downfall. Not that it will affect his play on the ice. He will probably get killed by a cheated husband or boyfriend. But that is who he is. He has little regard towards life. He wants a full life, not a long one.
