Meet the Young Guns!

- - -

At twilight's last gleaming, the vast expanse of the Atlantic seaboard is suddenly transformed into a deep dark abyss. The once active and vibrant shoreline becomes the abode of a sullen and solitary world held tight in the clutches of thick oppressive darkness. It is a world without shape or form, a place of boundless gloom and relentless shadow, eerily set high above the murky depths below.

But fear not fellow traveler! For while weeping may endure for a night, joy comes in the morning! For even while the dark thickening gloom holds dominion, it too shall be instantly pierced by the cry of the gulls, echoing ashore like airborne heralds celebrating the dawn of a new day! And so this ritual persists, without change and without fail, day after day after seemingly endless days.

Why then the metaphors you may ask? Simply because the world around us testifies that this cycle of doom and gloom is temporary at best. So no matter how dark things may appear, nothing can withstand the glorious light of a brand new day! In similar fashion, the resurgent city of Baltimore Maryland, nestled along the peaceful shores of Chesapeake Bay, and home to the once mighty Platoon, is even now preparing for the dawn of a new era. An era where the fan base is positively invigorated by elite new recruits who are all more than capable of lighting it up!

Even as we speak, the dark ages of a total rebuild are drawing to a close, and the Platoon stand poised to once again break forth as a shining light high above a sea of darkness. The gulls have spoken, and their cries have in fact become THE battle cry for the rebirth of the Platoon as a coming force to be reckoned with! Let all those who utilize the visitors room at American Airlines Arena beware, for the sign shall soon read: "Abandon hope all ye who enter!"

So now it's time to start meeting the young guns! And what better place to start than with the 12th overall pick in the first round of the season 67 SHL draft! As it turned out, twelfth overall was a hotly contested spot claimed by none other than the one and only Isaac Forty-One! (@C9VAN).

In just two short seasons, Isaac has already made an indelible mark on the J via a number of noteworthy achievements. First and foremost among which is an incredible 183 shot blocks over the course of season 67! This staggering total was good for second overall in the entire league and clearly indicates that Isaac is a sure fire defensive stalwart of the future!

But when it comes to Isaac Forty-One, the accolades are only just beginning! In addition to all those blocked shots, Isaac posted a team leading 23:36 of average ice time, meaning Forty-One plays in any and every situation as well as more often than anyone else on the roster!

Another very impressive statistic is Isaac's overall defensive game rating which comes in at a whopping 75 over the duration of the entire season! This certainly qualifies Forty-One to be a top two defenseman on any team in the league, and one that every club would certainly covet for their own blueline!

Digging into the numbers a little deeper, Isaac is a strong and steady presence on the back end with a highly developed ability to read the play and determine what the offense is about to try next. This allows Isaac to be in the right place at the right time, and more often than not, dislodge the attackers from the puck courtesy of strong checking skills.

And then, for the icing on the cake, Forty-One is no offensive slouch either. Isaac just so happens to be a terrific puck mover, whether it be by laying down a nice break out pass or simply using outstanding puck handling ability to lug it up ice on a quick solo rush!

Any way you slice it, Isaac Forty-One has all the tools to be a tremendous addition to the Baltimore blue line. Fans and management alike are no doubt chomping at the bit to see this future star sporting Platoon colors!

Next up on 'Meet the Young Guns' is another first round selection from the season 67 draft. This time we're very pleased to introduce a young man who became the first new user selected in the SHL draft at the lofty position of third overall! (Which needless to say, is quite a feat for any first gen player!)... The young lad in question goes by the name of Daniel Swift, and he's already becoming well known for his deadly offensive prowess!

And don't be fooled by the Blizzard crest, as despite the technical glitch, Swift is very much all Platoon all the time! Platoon

Another second year player in the J, Daniel has quickly distinguished himself as a big time player by being named first star in the seventh and deciding game of the Four Star Cup final! Swift had an excellent performance when it mattered most, posting four points in the deciding game, (including an assist on the Cup winning goal), to help lead his team to a J league championship that will not soon be forgotten!

Despite playing limited minutes, Daniel still managed to post the third highest offensive game rating on the team (78), which means he stands more than ready to step up into a top six role where he'll undoubtedly crank up his offensive production to even greater heights!

Daniel is a great puck handler with blazing speed, a pin point accurate shot and uncanny ability to find the soft spot in defensive zone coverage. All of which indicates Swift is entirely capable of being a thorn in the side of any defense, as these highly sought after skills will soon combine to make Daniel one of the finest and most accurate snipers in the entire Platoon arsenal!

With steadily improving abilities, and 49 career goals already to his credit, Swift will undoubtedly continue lighting the lamp with even greater frequency in the years to come!

THe good season of Isaac Forty-One didn't go unnoticed since he's in the conversation for the top defensive defenseman this season in the SMJHL!

Also congrats for you and your team for the Cup.
