[2 x Draft Media] A recap of last nights draft
#1

It is time for Spidey’s analysis of the season 70 SMJHL draft. We look to give you an honest and truthful look at how the draft went down (If you think I shit all over the team logos, just wait). It was an amazing night, full of surprises and shocks throughout the draft. With many hopefuls having their dreams come true.

S70 SMJHL Entry Draft
Round 1
1: Whalers Vancouver Whalers - Bob Wehadababyitsaboy
- Talk about a reach with the first overall pick. Likely never going to accomplish much.

2: Raptors Colorado Raptors - Oliver Castillon
- Another swing and a miss.

3: Scarecrows St. Louis Scarecrows - Dominik Winters
- Hmmm…would have been a great 7th round pick.

4: Grizzlies Great Falls Grizzlies - Levin Schattenaxt
- Great Falls makes a great mistake.

5: Elk Regina Elk - Just-to-Buy My-Love
- Just to buy a good pick, this wasn’t

6: Battleborn Nevada Battleborn - Thomas Sawschuk
- Clearly the point of this pick was to tank for next year.

7: Armada Anchorage Armada - Finn Weiß
- Everyone had high hopes for you but this was too early for a talented 4th liner.

8: Grizzlies Great Falls Grizzlies - Andre Latreille
- Grizzles look like teddy bears with this pick.

9: Knights Kelowna Knights - Crystal McLeod
- Finally a true elite talent that should have been picked with the first overall choice. Crystal is good at offense particularly moving the puck and setting up others, and she is one of the best defensive forward’s in this draft. She plays hard, can hit better then most defenders and will drop the gloves to protect her teammates. Do not get to close to this Momma Bear or her cubs as she will make you pay.
10: Timber Maine Timber - Mick Mayhem
- Mick never heard of him, and likely never will again.

11: Scarecrows St. Louis Scarecrows - Jay Bryzi
- Seems like he should have been picked much later.

12: Berserkers Newfoundland Berserkers - Adelbert Steiner
- I like this new comer, I also liked this pick to be much later.

13: Malamutes Yukon Malamutes - Furious Chicken
- Furious Chicken is the same as a Chihuahua, nothing like a Malamute, so this is a miss.

14: Scarecrows St. Louis Scarecrows - Marshall Madden
- For the second time in the first round the Scarecrows made a draft error. Maybe next year will be better.

Overall the first round was filled with miss opportunity, selecting players on potential, and reaching to fill holes on their rosters.

Round 2
15: Elk Regina Elk - Mercedes Baylé
- She could be a star…in another league. This one maybe a 4th liner.

16: Falcons Detroit Falcons - Theodore Svatos
- Can you imagine waiting until the second round to make your first pick and this is who you choose…

17: Whalers Vancouver Whalers - Bellamy Blake
- Odd choice as his name sounds like a ship captain that hunts Whales. Clearly wanting to self-destruct.

18: Kraken Carolina Kraken - Filip Svatos
- Isn’t this the second Svatos? Hopefully you will be better then the first. Most likely not.

19: Raptors Colorado Raptors - Foggy Nelson
- A player who plays like he is moving through the fog. Unsure, slow, and likely to crash at any second.

20: Battleborn Nevada Battleborn - Max Carnage
- Great name! Terrible pick, far too early for anything that makes sense, would have been a fantastic free agent pick up.

21: Armada Anchorage Armada - Barg Hazbite
- Aramada are clearly looking to upgrade their fleet and brought in a Barge. Just a state of how under powered the Armada truly are.

22: Kraken Carolina Kraken - Alexej Kastrba
- You are Kraken me up with this selection here. Could have been had later.

23: Citadelles Quebec City Citadelles - Net Man
- A spot-on name for what he does, clearly filling a need rather then going for talent.

24: Berserkers Newfoundland Berserkers - Erik Erikson
- It worries me they felt the need to repeat their name twice so they wouldn’t forget it.

25: Grizzlies Great Falls Grizzlies - Andren Akerson
- Missed his calling as a comic book hero with a name like that. Don’t expect much out of hockey.

26: Knights Kelowna Knights - Logan Webb
- One of the true elite talents in the scoring department, clearly Webb has a lot of work to do on the rest of his game, but he will get there. I see him to starting as a specialist on the PP as he develops, and eventually working his way up the roster. If you need Goals, Webb is the right pick.

27: Timber Maine Timber - Shootin Blanks
- Really that’s who you pick here…?

28: Kraken Carolina Kraken - Matt Stro
- Still Kraken me up with this draft pick.

Another disappointing round as a whole, clearly only one team is actually taking this draft seriously, lets see if anyone picks it up in the 3rd round….btw the Knights do not pick in the 3rd round, so lets just give the entire round a big old NOPE and move on.

Round 3
29: Malamutes Yukon Malamutes - Jordan Tanner - Nope
30: Scarecrows St. Louis Scarecrows - Kyle Baretto - Nope
31: Whalers Vancouver Whalers - Inactive Forever – Nopitty Nope Nope
32: Elk Regina Elk - Ally Mathieson - Nope
33: Berserkers Newfoundland Berserkers - Luke Labrie – Hmmmm…nope
34: Battleborn Nevada Battleborn - shnopple lopple – Well that is a great selection…for a nope.
35: Armada Anchorage Armada - Xavier Ali - Nope
36: Raptors Colorado Raptors - Scary Jerry – WOW, I love this player, for a nope.
37: Whalers Vancouver Whalers - Johnny FourStar – Johnny NopeStar (I fixed your name too).
38: Timber Maine Timber - Merle Van Nistelrooy - Nope
39: Grizzlies Great Falls Grizzlies - Dave Richardson - Nope
40: Whalers Vancouver Whalers - Thomas Liebold - Nope
41: Scarecrows St. Louis Scarecrows - Todd Bowers – Hmmmm, still a Nope
42: Raptors Colorado Raptors - Drew Sureshot – AAAAAAAAAAND, Nope

All of Round 4 was a bunch of disappointing picks that could have and maybe should have been much later in the draft. Just a bad bunch of scouting by SMJHL General Managers that made selections. Round 4 has no Knight selections again! This can’t be good…

Round 4
43: Falcons Detroit Falcons - Martin Csiszar – Swing and a miss
44: Malamutes Yukon Malamutes - Donny Dangle – Dangle my expectations are low.
45: Whalers Vancouver Whalers - Marko Zajc – Could be first mate to Bellamy (a call back to the first round), should stick to whale hunting and not playing hockey.
46: Timber Maine Timber - Michael Adams - Nope
47: Kraken Carolina Kraken - Aaron Ranger – Wish he were picked later to justify this pick.
48: Elk Regina Elk - Thor Odinsson – Should be fighting ice giants not playing hockey, unlikely to succeed.
49: Armada Anchorage Armada - Theodore Lauzon – Hmm…Another Theodore, another Theonope, at least this one wasn’t wasted in the second round…but still could have waited.
50: Kraken Carolina Kraken - Extra Magic – Casts magic missile, also ineffective in real life.
51: Kraken Carolina Kraken - Bryce Mitchell – Still Kraken me up with these choices.
52: Berserkers Newfoundland Berserkers - Paul Matz – Nope
53: Grizzlies Great Falls Grizzlies - Bryson Basham – Not with those soft pillow hands.
54: Scarecrows St. Louis Scarecrows - Will Nason – Just a knock off model, and will bring knock off w**d to all team functions. Should have drafted Willie Nelson if you wanted to make this a worthwhile pick.
55: Falcons Detroit Falcons - Ryan DeSharkie – Ryan DeSharkie…doo doo doo doo doo doo, Ryan DeSharkie, doo doo doo doo doo doo. Now that is stuck in your head, terrible pick.
56: Falcons Detroit Falcons - Khris Ray-Thiago – Nope

Man these GMs keep making terrible choices. Its ok breathe, the Knights make a pick this round. I am sure we will see something positive.

Round 5
57: Scarecrows St. Louis Scarecrows - François Bersier – Should have used your pass, instead of this pick
58: Malamutes Yukon Malamutes - Matthias Reis – Not looking to win with this pick.
59: Whalers Vancouver Whalers - Larry Johnson The 3rd – Should have drafted Larry Johnson the 1st, he had all the talent.
60: Elk Regina Elk – PASS – They missed out on the steal of the draft!
61: Raptors Colorado Raptors - Nate ESJAYKAY – ESJAYKAY always yells his last name, typically because he always makes mistakes.
62: Battleborn Nevada Battleborn - Alex Crosswell – Cross-soso would have been a better last name, same with this pick.
63: Armada Anchorage Armada - Peter Lasma – HEY It’s a great pick! …Wait sorry wrong player, nope.
64: Kraken Carolina Kraken - Apollo Peed – I am so sorry for your last name, and the fact the Kraken drafted you here.
65: Citadelles Quebec City Citadelles - Lionel Messi – Goat of soccer! Terrible at a real sport, no diving in hockey.
66: Berserkers Newfoundland Berserkers – PASS – Missed out on the steal of the draft.
67: Grizzlies Great Falls Grizzlies - Michael Cordero – I know we are in the fifth round…but honestly is this the best you can do?
68: Knights Kelowna Knights - Morgan Delfield
- Arguably the steal of the draft right here. Morgan is going to become a STAR in the SMJHL and rather early too. Morgan has the ability to blow by everyone with lightning quick speed. Literally if you blink you will miss them. Shooting is something to be desired, but Morgan will have everyone chasing them, at that point Morgan’s ability to make tape to tape passes to a scorer will make team’s heads spin.

69: Timber Maine Timber - Chad Chadwick – I can’t write bad things about a dead person. Thoughts and Prayers.
70: Falcons Detroit Falcons - Drew Meyer – Nope.

At this point in the draft, let’s just say there are a number of teams that clearly made mistakes trying to fill needs and not selecting talent. They are clearly going to pay for it through out the year. Then there are others who crushed their draft and will be reaping the benefits from this class for years to come. As for the rest of the draft I am pretty sure we can just skip by it and rate the rest with a big NOPE.

Round 6
71: Scarecrows St. Louis Scarecrows - Dean Ventresca - Don't know you, must be a nope body
72: Malamutes Yukon Malamutes - Royal Pizza - Stick with pizza, less with ice hockey
73: Whalers Vancouver Whalers - Nate Gray The X-man, I fixed it for you.
74: Elk Regina Elk - PASS
75: Raptors Colorado Raptors - PASS
76: Battleborn Nevada Battleborn - Joebammmm Farf - Nope
77: Armada Anchorage Armada - PASS
78: Kraken Carolina Kraken - Auzzie Chambers - Auzzie's don't play hockey, go back to surfing
79: Citadelles Quebec City Citadelles - PASS
80: Berserkers Newfoundland Berserkers - PASS
81: Grizzlies Great Falls Grizzlies - Aron Mahon - You don messed up A (a)ron. Nope
82: Knights Kelowna Knights - PASS
83: Timber Maine Timber - PASS
84: Falcons Detroit Falcons - PASS

Round 7
85: Scarecrows St. Louis Scarecrows - PASS
86: Malamutes Yukon Malamutes - PASS
87: Whalers Vancouver Whalers - PASS
88: Elk Regina Elk - PASS
89: Raptors Colorado Raptors - PASS
90: Battleborn Nevada Battleborn - PASS
91: Armada Anchorage Armada - PASS
92: Kraken Carolina Kraken - James Supercard - Still too early, nope.
93: Citadelles Quebec City Citadelles - PASS
94: Berserkers Newfoundland Berserkers - PASS
95: Grizzlies Great Falls Grizzlies - Michael Doucet - Mr. Insignificant, last selected, finally the right pick at the right place.
96: Knights Kelowna Knights - PASS
97: Timber Maine Timber - PASS
98: Falcons Detroit Falcons - PASS

Congrats to everyone on a fun night, a great draft, and truthfully all the best to you all. I know the General Manages have put a lot of work into whom they chose to pick, and you all should be happy with where you were selected. I hope you win a ton of games (against everyone but the Kelowna Knights, against the Knights find death, sadness, and the bitter sting of defeat), find fun in the league, and make a ton of friends.

Good Luck season 70 draft picks and returning players! GO KNIGHTS!

I see the copy and paste meta to carry the word count and give you free cash is alive and well Wink

“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. ... There are neither beginnings nor endings to the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.”

Very well! It only made up a third of the article.

Honestly I would have just written it out, but that would have been a waste of an hour going back and forth for the same result.

Could also just get into GMing and get fat stacks
