Since @luke is busy rolling to the Cup Finals, I figured I'd help out the history department today. This came about because my player, Marcel Beck, just finished his 8th season in Winnipeg and that feels like a long time to me, and I was curious where he stacked up compared to the other active leaders among the franchises. Turns out 528 games is just a drop in the bucket. There are a ton of active players around the league that have been with their teams for an extended period of time.
There are currently 64 players that have been with their current franchise for more than 500 regular season games. Nineteen franchises are represented in this list, with Toronto being to only club without an active player over 500 GP with the team. It is also commonplace that these players played their entire career with their current team. Only a handful of players split time between two clubs. You could consider this list to be the hometown heroes or old guard. Below is the current list of active players over 500 GP climbing their respective teams' franchise games played lists: -Any player with a ** next to their name is the current franchise leader in games played (and climbing). -Any player with ## next to their name is within 66 games of the record and can claim the crown from an inactive player next season if they play. -Any player with ^^ next to their name is 67 - 132 games (two seasons) of taking the franchise record from an inactive player. ____________________________________________ Andreas Kvalheim TEX 1424 ** (34 games away from the all time record of 1458. Just look at this insanity: Kvalheim Seasons) Collin Gibbles MIN 1374 ** Aaron Wilson HAM 1324 ** Sven Yxskaft NEW 1024 ## Dwight Knight TBB 974 ** Steve Harrington BUF 974 ^^ Jaska Seppala BUF 974 ^^ Sven Svenson SFP 974 ^^ Ryuuji Minamino CHI 974 Panda Panico TBB 924 Lord Raiden BAP 924 ## Emilia Bergman BUF 916 Vladimir Petrov TBB 858 Colin Lambert TBB 858 Micheal Withecheck ATL 796 ** Vaseline Podcalzone SEA 792** William Salming SEA 792** Xavier Doom NOLA 792 Elwulf Jericson TBB 792 Alexander Kozlov TBB 792 Chimkin Wing BUF 792 Igor Victory PHI 726** Puddles O'Duck ATL 726 Pablo Salvatici ATL 726 Nikolaj Boyle NOLA 726 Ole Olson NOLA 726 Finn von Murphenstein TBB 726 Long John Donair LAP 726 Mats Marner CHI 726 A-Rye Izzy CGY 723 Daryl Urquhart SEA 660 Kermit Murphy SEA 660 Paul Binder ATL 660 Salzberger Lillehammersson ATL 660 Tomas Zadina NOLA 660 Toma Lind MAN 660 Bean Beanman BUF 660 KEKW Kekkonen BUF 660 Billy Brooks BUF 660 Nike Kickz Jr CHI 660 Shion Okamoto CHI 660 Eero Makela CGY 660 Zak Wilson MTL 594 ** Evil Allbran PHI 594 Angus McFife XVIII ATL 594 Ville Kurri NOLA 594 Ethan Bouchard TBB 594 Zebulon Leavitt BAP 594 Robert E O Speedwagon MAN 594 Greg Davies MAN 594 Corman Ponaire LAP 594 Adrik Baranov MIN 594 Alexis Saint-Michel CGY 594 Roderic Banes MTL 528 Jonathan Hagan MTL 528 Hans Graf PHI 528 Calvin Hobbes SEA 528 Anton Harrier MAN 528 Gonzo Gobbledygook WPG 528 Marcel Beck WPG 528 Jonny Tsunami NEW 528 Greyson Cooper BUF 528 Brian Davenport EDM 528 Janis Lux MIN 528 Rinky McDangle MIN 528 Jimmy Larkin-Conway TOR 462 Since the index doesn't like goalies, I went through the goalies too to show your hometown heroes (400 GP cutoff bc backups): Mat Smith CHI 668 ** Cillian Kavanagh TEX 654 ** Jon St. Ark NOLA 527 ** Olof Karsikko NEW 469 Scoochie Stratton PHI 457 ** Thor Odinson SEA 414 ** ____________________________________________ I like seeing records like this fall because Games Played is an achievement any player can reach if they keep up with the league. It distinguishes who are the foundations of the teams. In my opinion, it is especially more impressive for those players to reach these marks who are not actively GMing or involved in the mechanics. Usually that means they are great locker room people that management wants to keep around. Keep on going! Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. Credit to enigmatic, Merica, and tweedledunn for sigs
