SCOUTING PROFILE:

Ho Lee-Smokes is a defense first defender, despite good size he does not rely on a big hit; or much hitting at all really. Instead, he relies on incredible hockey sense in the defensive zone to be in the right position and grind out his opposition or make his stick do the work to fight the puck away. He also is not scared to put his own body on the line and lays out to block shots like few other young rookie defenders. Defensively he is sound, but he is a liability in the offensive end of the ice and can often look lost. He will also need to work on his speed as he can be beat by faster forwards on a quick first step, and they can keep ahead as he has issues catching up. He does have a crisp pass that hits his teammates stick while they are in motion creating fantastic exits from his own zone. He is as strong as they come, so opponents find it difficult to beat him in his own corners trying to dig up the puck or winning battles in front of the net.

FUTURE OUTLOOK:

Ho Lee-Smokes has the makings of a top 4 defender and PK specialist. He does not get in a lot of trouble and take dumb penalties which will be useful on the PK when they need to play a clean game and remove the puck. With his tough as nails way if he can improve his hitting and continues to develop his defensive side, he will become a future Bojo Biscuits Award Winner.
