Trent Wiseman had always been a reliable defenseman on the ice, known for his solid plays and strategic moves that often saved his team from critical situations. Hockey was more than just a sport to him; it was a passion that ignited his spirit every time he stepped onto the rink. However, Trent had another love in his life that rivaled his passion for hockey: sleep. Late nights and early mornings had never been Trent's forte, and it was a trait that had become his trademark, both on and off the ice. His teammates affectionately called him the "Sleeping Sentinel," a nod to his tendency to sneak in power naps whenever he could, a habit that, unfortunately, proved to be his Achilles' heel. The pivotal night of the SMJHL draft was looming on the horizon, a night that could potentially change Trent's life forever. However, the combination of a particularly bad night of sleep and an alarm clock that seemed to conspire against him resulted in him oversleeping and missing his early morning flight to the draft.


Trent groggily opened his eyes. He felt a sense of panic wash over him. Glancing at the clock, he realized the gravity of the situation. He had missed the opportunity to showcase his skills at the SMJHL draft, an event that could have propelled his hockey career to new heights. Frantically, Trent tried to salvage the situation by booking a last-minute flight, but it was too late. The draft had already begun, and his name was nowhere to be found among the selected players. He watched the draft unfold on his television, the missed opportunity hanging heavily in the air. Although he might be able to get in with waivers, it hurt him to lose the opportunity to get drafted and join the SMJHL in a sort of official and better way.
