Deep Dive #1 - Buffalo Stampede Draft Finds
#1

S31, 3rd Round, 41st pick: Isaac Kaiser

Isaac Kaiser never once played for the Buffalo Stampede, instead spending his career in Portland, Hamilton, San Francisco (with the Portland relocation), and finally hung his skates up in New England. Kaiser was one of those classic STHS players that started out really slow early in their career before cementing themselves as a legitimate power forward for the next 5 seasons. He ended up being one of the main attractions of the newly branded Pride, the expansion organization opposite his draft team.

S33, 3rd round, 39th pick: Charles Walker

A Buffalo lifer, Charles Walker was a cornerstone of the foundation on which the Stampede built their identity through the late S30s and S40s, all the way up until we moved off of the STHS engine. Walker was an incredible get at this pick, carving a legacy in Buffalo next to his longtime partner Alexis Metzler. Charles Walker was apart of the first Challenge Cup winning Stampede team.

S35, 3rd round, 29th pick: Jordin FourFour Jr.

While he had a short career, FourFour Jr.'s peak was among the best in the league as he took the Stampede to 3 consecutive playoff berths alongside some hardware at the awards ceremony. FourFour Jr. was the perfect bridge between Casey Holmes and Cedric Robinson.

S40, 3rd round, 31st pick: GOD McZehrl

Falling for reasons off the ice, McZehrl proved to be a steady player for the Stampede before an infamous trade. McZehrl even won a Bojo Biscuit and took home a Challenge Cup in his time with Buffalo. I say good value.

S46, 4th round, 51st pick: Eric Vanderberg

Vanderberg spent most of his career as a depth defenseman, but after a fateful trade from Buffalo to Winnipeg, Vanderberg broke out and ran away with the S52 Bojo Biscuit award. After another season in Winnipeg, Vanderberg returned to the Stampede for another handful of seasons, playing a pivotal role in the Stampede's S55 Challenge Cup win.

S53, 4th round, 55th pick: Alexander Roach

Arguably the best value of all, Alexander Roach took his opportunity and ran with it. He blossomed into a do-it-all center for the Stampede and helped the team to another Cup victory in S60. Roach's career was relatively short however, retiring with what seemed to be plenty left to give.

S55, 3rd round, 38th pick: Johnny Shuffleboard

Another player on this list that never actually played for the Stampede. Shuffledboard spent his career with Minnesota, Edmonton, and Winnipeg. He had a modest, productive career.

S55, 6th round, 94th pick: Aumy Jr

Having gone undrafted in S54, Aumy Jr also took his opportunity and ran with it. Aumy split his career between Buffalo, Calgary, and Winnipeg. His career stats read like a quintessential #3 defenseman on a contender.

S56, 3rd round, 47th pick: Chimkin Tendy Wing

Rumored to be the only skater in SHL history to have recorded a SHL shutout in their career, Chimkin started off cool before exploding onto the scene in S64 with a 90 point campaign. From there, he never relinquished his scoring touch and put up over 950 career points as well as 166 playoff points.
