Date: Tuesday, February 27, 2024
Time: ~8:00 pm EST
Hosted by: @AgentSmith630

Please note the following change:

Due to inaccuracies in determining eligible players before the Season 67 ballot, ALL players who started their eligibility in Season 66 or before (The last season played must be between S57 - S64) will receive one extra season of eligibility.

This means the S66 1st Season Eligible players will be eligible through S73 instead of S72, and all those who started their eligibility before S67 (will be eligible for one extra season, assuming they were still eligible at that time.
The players with an extra season of eligibility have been marked with an asterisk ( * ).

Players with eligibility starting in S67 and after will retain their original 7 seasons of eligibility.

The eligibility years listed will not change aside from allowing 8 seasons of eligibility for the classes before S67.
After the Ceremony for S73, the maximum number of eligible seasons will return to 7.
Please let AgentSmith630 (agentsmith on Discord) know if you have any questions.

Good evening everyone, and welcome to the Season 68 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony!
We're cruising right along with these, and I would like to take a moment to say thank you to the wonderful committee that has been helping me get this back on track!
We did have a bit of Committee turnover this season, so please join me in thanking @Henrik for his service to the Committee, and help me welcome @Jimmysmo27 to the ranks!

To start tonight, I would like to remind everyone of the voting rules, and some changes that we've made to help accommodate for some mistakes and errors that were made in the past with regards to eligibility and who was on the ballots.

Each member of the committee (10 people in all) nominates 5 retired athletes from the list of eligible players and ranks them 1 through 5, which in turn gives these players points according to their rank (10 points for 1st, 7 for 2nd, 5 for 3rd, 3 for 4th and 1 point for a 5th).
Each committee member must also provide a short written piece to back up their choices.
These points are then totaled and all players who receive 35 points or more are selected to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

For GMs, committee members are allowed to place 2 votes, with 1st being 10 points and 2nd being 5, and a GM must receive at least 65 points to be inducted into the Hall of Fame

Additionally, due to inaccuracies in determining eligible players before the Season 67 ballot, ALL players who started their eligibility between Season 59 and Season 66 (The last season played must be between S57 - S64) will receive one (1) extra season of eligibility.

This means the S66 1st Season Eligible players will be eligible through S73 instead of S72, and all those who started their eligibility before S67 will be eligible for one extra season, assuming they were still eligible at that time.
The players with an extra season of eligibility have been marked with an asterisk ( * ) in the eligibility list.

Players with eligibility starting in S67 and after will retain the original seven (7) seasons of eligibility.

The eligibility years listed will not change aside from allowing eight (8) seasons of eligibility for the classes before S67.
After the Ceremony for S73, the maximum number of eligible seasons will return to seven (7).
Due to this change, we don't have any players who are leaving the ballot after this season.
However, we will say goodbye to the following GMs, who did not receive the required number of votes to be inducted:
Blizzard boom - Final Season
Barracuda Trella - Final Season
Stars ml002 - Final Season
Wolfpack Kenvald - Final Season
Dragons Mike Izzy - Final Season
Without further ado, let's begin!

(This post was last modified: 02-27-2024, 09:07 PM by AgentSmith630. Edited 2 times in total.)

Our first inductee tonight had an amazing career, playing for one team for 15 seasons and managing to amass an incredible trophy case along the way. Winning 7 of 8 awards that you're nominated for is a surefire way to make sure you're at the top of almost every ballot, and winning two Challenge Cups doesn't hurt the resume either! It can sometimes be a far stretch to say that the success of the team can be strongly attributed to just one player but in this case, the opposite might be true. Their presence both on and off the ice will forever be felt, and now that effort will be enshrined in the hallowed halls of the Hall of Fame!

Committee Quotes:
"One of the greatest goalie careers in SHL history, with more award wins than any eligible candidate. 5th all-time in career wins, with the hardware to show for it. There's not much that needs to be said for this first-ballot Hall of Famer."

"7 awards won, which is the most out of any eligible HoFer by a wide margin, 5 All-SHL nominations, which are also tied for most out of any eligible HoFer, most wins and shutouts out of any eligible HoFer, third best GAA and a respectable save percentage."

"5-time All-SHL appearances, which is more than any eligible forward and goaltender, and tied for the most of all nominees. A gobsmacking 7 award wins, along with an additional two nominations, making her the most decorated player on the list. Had a very long career, and has the most wins, shutouts, and games played of all goaltenders."

"No S68 ballot is complete without mentioning Doyle, who is a clear-cut gem of a goaltender. Led all ballot goaltenders with All-SHL team placements (5), 3 McBrides, and in total 9 goaltender nominations/award wins. I could see Doyle easily sitting in any of the 5 places on this ballot for one amazing career. With nearly 600 wins between the regular and postseason, Doyle has been a lock for the Hall for a long time."

Our next, and final, inductee tonight was the opposite of Doyle, playing for 5 separate teams throughout their career. Even though this player is well-traveled, they spent the right time with the right teams and managed to rack up an astounding 5 Challenge Cup victories to go with their incredible four All-SHL appearances. With over 1000 games played, their .91 points per game truly stand out amongst their peers, showing that not only did they have longevity, but their offensive performance never truly slipped below powerhouse levels.

Committee Quotes:
"Probably undervalued in previous ballots, Scarn was a monster on the ice, with 4 all-SHL appearances, an MVP title to his name, and lifted the Challenge Cup five times in an excellent 19-year career. Scoring nearly a point per game for that long is an incredible achievement, and he contributed up and down the lineup for two cup-winning franchises."

"Michael Scarn: best ppg average at 0.91 for anyone with more than 8 seasons played, second most points with 933 out of any eligible HoFer, 4 All-SHL nominations which is the most out of any eligible forward, two award wins and 3 nominations which is respectable on top of an impressive 5 cup wins (between Hamilton and Buffalo)."

"An epically long 19 seasons of playing where he managed to maintain a .91 PPG, the highest of all skaters nominated. One of the top players in All-SHL appearances with 4, five combined award nominations + wins, over 100 games played, and 5 cups to go with it all."

"Scarn leads all forwards here with 4 All-SHL appearances and 5 wins/nominations. Scarn is one of the few players who can boast 5 cup wins and clearly is a cut above when it comes to his peers."
