Against Nobody cares about the SMJHL

I mean come on, I get that it's the Juniors, but that doesn't mean there's nothing to love! The stakes are just as high, it's great seeing these future stars battle it out in the lower leagues.

AGAINST

I have to be against this one. I really think New Orleans is going to make some noise this season and somehow squeak in. I still think Los Angeles is going to win the cup, but New Orleans is going to come close. A big part of this can be thanks to wolf who is upgrading their defensive game.

Against: New England is in a tough division with Hamilton, Buffalo and Toronto who are all near each other in terms of team average TPE, they will all be facing each other many times so I don't see New England winning the presidents' trophy this season (I picked them under for casino too).

Against: SMJHL is where it's at. Arguably the best hockey team to grace a rink, the Detroit Falcons happen to reside in the SMJHL. The city of Detroit cares about the Falcons and thus the SMJHL as a whole.

For. I think if NEW can sustain the quality of play they've had in the last 5 seasons, then they stand a better chance than most of coming out on top of the league table. Their division is set to be a bit of a bloodbath, with BUF and HAM almost back to full power and TOR on the rise (RIP MTL), but they have a slight edge in player chemistry and TPE right now. But, just because you win the President's Trophy does not guarantee you'll win the Cup. *shudders in Lightning fan*

Against, how can anyone assume this when it is obvious that we keep adding new users and really have no issues in retention. Maybe if we were hemorrhaging users you could say this, but we aren't and that was proved by the expansion of the J into 2 new markets this past offseason.

Nobody cares about the SMJHL
Against. I cared about it while I was in the league. I was able to be a relevant player and be happy with my season totals pretty quickly. I'm doubtful ill be able to make a character that's very relevant in the SHL.

Maine will not win the Four Star Cup because I do not play for them, if they face the Malamutes in the playoffs again they will lose. Yukon will win the cup probably.

The SMJHL is the entry point for every single player in the league. If nobody cared about the SMJHL then there wouldn't be enough engagement for players to eventually reach the SHL.

Against. The SMJHL is where it all begins, its the start of new friendships, its where rivalries are formed, its the birthplace of SHL, without it the big leagues wouldnt be the same. even looking at the real world, the best stories come start in the junior leagues, whether it be an unstoppable duo turned rivals or vice versa it fuels the story of the league, without it itd feel hollow.

I think I am contractually obligated to be against this one. This is especially false this season as it will be the last go around for the best draft class ever, the S74 Lobsters. We have record breaking performances and a major sneak peak at the future of the SHL with great players, many of them first generations that are max earning. I would not be surprised to see several 2k players rise from this class.

While I think New England will make a good run, and could even push to be the Eastern Conference representative in the cup final. The true battle is happening in the West. The top 3 TPE earning teams are in the West (New England is number 8 overall), the current SHL championship are in the West, and they have done little to keep up with the Jones' when the Blizzard auctioned off all of their talent last season.
