S76 PT #1: One night in Tokyo Due: Sunday, April 14th @ 11:59 PM PST

Code:
Written Option 1: Your team is taking part of this seasons SHL Global Series and they start their season with 2 games in Japan because HO has heard there is untapped market potential there.
As your team arrives at the arena your player discovers that they have become quite popular among local fans after their Chirper actions.
On their offday between the games they get invited to some Japanese game show. What kind of game show it is and how does your player perform? Will this make them big in Japan?

Since Japanese gameshows are so insane you can make up anything and it probably exists I will combine some I know with made up hockey nonsense. First of all let's combine Takeshi's castle with the gameshow where you have to find the item disguised as chocolate in a room without using your hands. Now, for the next step. We make the theme for it ice and as such all competitions are heavily involved with ice but also placed on ice. So now, the goal is to find the chocolate item, carry it in your mouth and get through the obstacle course entirely covered in ice. Now as to how good Niclas Sundqvist will perform, well, this competition seems like a shitshow and I do not think any predictions can be made. I think he misses the win by a fair amount but the popularity goes through the roof, well at least with those fans that already liked him.

Jack St. Clair has never been to Japan before so when he first found out he would be heading there for the first two games of the season he was really excited! Then reality sunk in though. He wouldn't be going there with the Edmonton Blizzard, but the Toronto North Stars, a group of players he hasn't had much time to bond with and get to know. So to be heading to a foreign country with a bunch of people he didn't know, started to feel a bit overwhelming. As the date got closer the excitement started to return, this was a chance to showcase the league and more specifically St. Clair's skills to a global market. More importantly though, it was sort of like being thrown right into the fire. He may not have been the most comfortable around his teammates before the trip, but an experience like this is a surefire way to get to know everyone at a much deeper level and there is no better way to develop that chemistry and team bonding.

Option 2

Honestly, I would love to be able to logistically fly around the world all the time, only playing in front of neutral audiences. Nothing wrong with the NA market, and we would certainly come to see them, but it would be amazing to spend more of our time spreading the game to those who don't have as much access. A tour of Africa, Asia, Australia, Central and South America, and Europe. And of course more stops in North America as well, featuring some small towns, medium towns, and big towns! It's really town city out here! The sport should be appreciated around the world! Although the logistics would be horrific, and the overall quality of the games would probably drop significantly, it would be a fun time!

Rip thunderdome is very excited to travel to japan to open the season there. In his life, rip thunderdome never gets to travel and see the world except for where his hockey games take him, so to visit such a unique and far away place is an amazing and cherished experience for rip thunderdome. Despite being on neutral ice for our “home opener”, i think the crowd will bring good energy. Plus, we will have a real home opener when we get back to Tampa Bay, so its really not a big deal. Rip thunderdome is very interested to see how the japanese public reacts to seeing him out. Whenever rip thunderdome goes out in public in the states, people start praying at his feet when they notice him to pay respects to the thunderdome. It will be interesting to see if the japanese people react the same way or pay him no mind

Jiggle E Puff is already a huge star in Japan, as Pokemon originated there. This makes the team he plays for, the Atlanta Inferno, a natural choice for the SHL Global series. Jiggle knew this was coming and has been looking forward to making the long trip across the Pacific! Jiggle E Puff is always excited to have an opportunity to both grow his fanbase as well as spend time with his existing fans! He does not have an opportunity to do an Asian tour as much as he would like to, due to his hockey playing commitments. As part of the SHL Global Series, Jiggle will be hosting a quick performance the night before the game, as part of an "opening ceremony" of sorts. This, along with the other ceremonial features of the Global series like a halftime performance by a local artist, make the game feel like more of a spectacle than a hockey game, but Jiggle E puff is a fan of spectacles.

Written Option 2: Your team is taking part of this seasons SHL Global Series and they start their season with 2 games in Japan because HO has heard there is untapped market potential there. How does your player feel about the trip? Is it pointless travel to play in front of neutral crowd and missing on actual home opener? Or are they just exited to see the world and thrilled about the opportunity to win over the local fans? Does all this make the game feel more like showmatch than actual regular season game?

To say that Kenny is thrilled about getting to play in the SHL Global Series in Japan would be a massive understatement. After all, Kenny has a lot of fond memories of Japan, since it was the place where he spent a big part of his life at when he was still doing pro wrestling. It was a very special place for him that eventually became his second home, and returning to it will feel like a homecoming of sorts for him, even if the circumstances are now different. That's probably one of the things he's looking forward to. As a wrestler, he knows very well how Japanese crowds can be like for a sporting event, and he's definitely very curious about what that will mean for how they'll react during a hockey game. He's also looking forward to showing his teammates all the places in Japan he used to frequent, and acting as a tour guide of sorts for them while they are here on the trip.

The game show in question would probably be the equivalent of Fear Factor or Dog Eat Dog but in Japan. I’m not super familiar with Japanese game shows so I just assume they have one of those. The little I do know is that they make you go all out and can sometimes break you mentally if you’re not prepared, but Willow is nothing but mental toughness and resilience. The poor game show hosts wouldn’t be prepared for the way she deals with everything, and quite frankly it would actually be terrible television for everyone involved. Because Willow is so clinically efficient she would just do them as efficiently as possible and not even try to make much of a show about it. It would create more and more tension with each new game because they’d have to come up with increasingly unhinged tasks to try and beat her, and she’d become a cult hero with her complete resiliency and unwillingness to break.

Well it just so happens Elly is from Sapporo! although she is popular there, she is wasn't known across the whole of Japan, that is... until her chirper started blowing up with her howl recordings and on-ice selfies with the players. She has gotten noticed by the local obstacle course game show! they want to see how hockey players compete against other normies and celebs, and Elly as a "wild" beast will make the ratings pop. she has her natural balance, her feline agility, and keen eyes. Even when the course is changes to accommodate a Leopard, she breezes through most challenges with ease. Fans of the show are going wild that such a contestant would be on tv, and swiftly makes it to the finals. She does complete the final course, but comes in second to someone who, despite not possessing the abilities of a cat, has certain human advantages and is able to finish just a little faster. Overall this really puts an eye on her team. Japan is now sure to notice what type of players are in the SHL and definitely notice Elly.
