Maine Timber Rookie Recap
#1

The Maine Timber were lucky enough to grab a ton of talent in the latest SMJHL draft. The team was able to add depth in every position in the draft by grabbing 2 defenders and 3 forwards. Overall the players managed to add a total of 187 points to the Timbers production this season and has shown that the future is bright for the organization. Below is a breakdown of each of their rookie seasons:

13oA - Boofa Benson

Boofa has been a nightmare for opposing offenses this season. The young rookie has shown why he was a first round pick by totaling nearly 200 blocked shots this season. This put him up to the level of some of the leagues best when it came to defensive play. He was also able to add a staggering 80 hits and 42 TAs this season. He was relatively quiet on the offensive front but, the Timber wont care about that with that kind of defensive production.

21oA - Doug Weight

The star center on the 3rd line for the Timber. Dough Weight has been punching heavily above his weight class in his rookie campaign. The Gretsky's office specialist was able to win over 400 faceoffs this season and amassed a 54% win rate for the team. He also lead his fellow rookies on the team with 33 Assists and a total of 47 points. He looked well at home this season and shows excellent promise to be the next star center for this team.

37oA - Jacppo Nummilavin

The young Finnish defender did not dazzle with the offensive talent that we were all expecting but, he looked right at home alongside Boofa in the Timber's 3rd pairing this season. Jacppo was able to grab 33 points this season and seems to be getting comfortable being an offensive presence on the blue line for the team. The Timber will hope he continues to develop and starts to settle in to that quarterback role they so desperately need next season with the departure of Teal'c.

46oA - Kobe frobe

One of the best two way forward prospects in the draft fell down to 46oA for the Timber. Kobe has been exactly what the Timber's 3rd line has need this season as his physicality led all of the Timber rookies with 119 hits this season. The ability to pressure opposing players also helped to result in great point production for the young LW. He totaled 39 points and nearly 30 of those were from Assists. He is showing a lot of promise and the Timber organization could not be happier grabbing him that late in the draft.

69oA - May O'Nayse

The dangling RW is going to go down in history as the most successful pick selected at 69oA in SMJHL history. He has to be the steal of the draft and his 25 goals this season was enough for 3rd best by all of the rookies this season. He has offensive firepower that will lead to a ton of points in his career and his ability to play alongside Kobe and Doug mean that the Timber will be watching him light the lamp for many seasons to come.
