From the good old days in Colorado!

As a kid Jon grew up playing rugby. Ireland is a rugby crazy country and he loved watching both the national team and his province team, Munster. When he didn’t have hockey tournaments on weekends his dad would often bring him to see Munster play at Thomond Park. Although rugby has a presence in Canada, it’s something Jon has sorely missed from his days living in Ireland. Although he can’t play due to risk of injury and ruining his hockey career, he enjoys visiting the local rugby clubs in both Halifax when he was there, and now in Kelowna. He got to know some of the guys over in Halifax quite well and enjoyed heading to the local Irish pub Durty Nellys to watch international matches. Now in Kelowna, he has taken an interest in watching the local rugby club, the Kelowna Crows. Those fellas know how to down a pint, and that’s something Toner will always appreciate.

King Tut got the day off, and well montreal does not have a ton of teams to go watch. Like other cities they do have a team on his second favourite sport soccer. Being Egyptian, he grew up watching the egyptian soccer team it was a.sport he tried to break into before he fell in love with hockey. He still plays in his spare time so he decided to go watch the Montreal Impact versus arch rivals Toronto FC. It was a close exciting game for him who has not been able to watch soccer since he moved to north america to pursue his hockey career. His favourite impact player is star Ignacio Piatti who he got to meet after the game. It was a surrel experience for someone who uprooted his life to become a star hockey player gaining his own following. He asked plenty of questions about how to handle rising stardom from Piatti who gave him som advice he now uses.

On a random off weekend for Joe K, he acquired 4 tickets to go see the Colorado Yeti play the New Orleans Second Line in some NSFL action in Colorado. Since he wasn’t busy playing with Calgary, Joe K was with the Scarecrows for their game against the Raptors on Saturday and went to the football game the next day. He took his fellow Scarecrows GM Ryan King (<a href='index.php?showuser=1787' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-10'>TML99</a>), who travels with the team more as he’s enjoying retirement from the SHL. Along with them, they grabbed two lovely Scarecrows who are wearing letters this season for the team: Otis B. Driftwood (<a href='index.php?showuser=1546' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>Slappydoodle</a>) and Daniel Karlsson (<a href='index.php?showuser=1959' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-13'>dankoa</a>). The Crows contingent had a blast at the game. Football was always Joe K’s second love. He played it in high school and looks forward to running a touch co-ed football team when he’s well into his 40s. He’s a big fan of the incredible athleticism and teamwork these guys have. Plus its just so damn exciting. While his favorite team, the Otters, weren’t playing, Joe still loved the game, as NOLA took home a 38-9 win in pretty easy fashion. Good times, great memories. (193)

To be honest, Pietra Volkova is not much of a football fan, even if many of her teammates are Blue Bombers fans. Most of the time, when she is invited to go to and see them play with her teammates, she turns the offer down in favor of staying home with her children. However, she was raised to have good manners, and so when she was actually gifted two tickets to go see the Blue Bombers play at home, on the University of Manitoba campus, she decided to take a shot and honor the tickets. Naturally, she dragged her American-raised teammate Zach Evans with her, to help her make sense of it all. Unfortunately, being two of the SHL's premier stars, especially in their home city, has a consequence when it comes time to go out - though they tried to stay inconspicuous and just watch the game as spectators, they were eventually recognized by some hometown Jets fans. Gracious as they are, Evans and Volkova were happy to sign a few autographs in exchange for being left alone the rest of the game, and even went down into the locker room to greet the players and have an impromptu photo shoot.

Written Task: Who do you go see play? Why does your player like this sport? Talk about your excursion in at least 150 words, including who you go see play, where, and who you take with you.

There’s not much in Edmonton, it doesn’t have a lot of sports. The Edmonton Eskimos are one of the few teams in the city, in the Canadian Football League. Now, Berger grew up on Hockey, not caring much for other sports, but willing to give this game a try. Football is a combat sport, much like hockey, which leads some similarities in hits and intensity, but the game besides that is much different than the game of hockey. Watching this game for the first time in his life, Berger was intrigued, but not impressed, while priding itself on contact and every play involving either contact to end it or scoring, the game quickly becomes a gauntlet focused on injuring your opponent more than actually focusing on scoring. Going with his linemate and mentor in Tigole Bitties, it wasn’t a bad time for the young Austrian experiencing life in North America, learning new things and getting a grasp on life abroad.
