five tasks, each of which is worth up to 2 TPE for putting in a little effort, for a total of 10 possible TPE. You can complete them in any order and do as few or as many as you would like.

Task #1 -Pick a player from an eliminated team and slot them into an existing playoff lineup. Who do they replace, why, how do their playoff stats look?
Must include: 150 words.

Task #2 - Make a top 5 list for the finals. Top 5 goals, top 5 players, top 5 noteworthy people in the audience for one of the games, whatever you want. No word count, but if you just list 5 names, you won't get the full 2 tpe. Be a little creative.

Task #3 - Either write an interview with your player about your team's playoff hopes (or if you're on an eliminated team, an interview about your team's season in review) OR create a program cover for one of the games in any playoff series.
Requirements: Written option - At least 200 words. Graphic option - Logos of both teams in the matchup and at least one player render.

Task #4 - Write 200 words or make a graphic highlighting any goalie matchup of the series.
Written must include 3 stats, either from playoffs or the regular season.
Graphic must include both goalie renders and both team logos.

Task #5 - Write a goals highlight play by play for one series winning game OR make an infographic featuring stats from a series winning game.
Requirements: At least 200 words for written / at least 4 stats featured in at least 2 different ways for graphics (bar graphs, pie graphs, list of names, etc)

It is hard to dispute Tig Murphy as the standout defenseman in this upcoming draft class. He managed to score 31 points in the season, which is more than a lot of forwards managed to secure, all while being a steady, defensive machine on the back end too. A team like Kelowna would heavily benefit from a young, work horse of a defenseman that is determined on improving. As of right now, Kelowna lacks a sturdy, reliable, young defenseman that is the same caliber as Tig Murphy, and missing out on so much from this previous Reddit draft certainly did not help Kelowna's case. Anyway you slice it, Kelowna's chances of winning not only this season but the next couple seasons as well would be greatly improved if they managed to secure a young, hot shot of a defenseman that is at all comparable to the likes of Tig Murphy.

TOP 5 PLAYERS TO WATCH IN THE S42 SMJHL FINALS

1) Daddy Mack Knights - With an impressive 10 points in just 4 games so far in the playoffs, Daddy Mack was an instrumental piece in Kelowna's sweep and should be the number one player to look out for as we come up on the finals.

2) Eriks Stalbergs Whalers - Managing 7 points in 5 games, Eriks Stalbergs is the second player to look out for on the ice. The top RW on the list, Stalbergs' 5 assists in 5 games makes him a true danger on the ice.

3) Geoff Moore Whalers - With 5 points in 5 games, Moore is the top ranking defenseman to look out for. Any defenseman that manages to stay a point a game while also being a threat to look out for in the defensive zone deserves some heavy recognition.

4) Cash Savage Knights - One of the top performing Knights over the season Cash Savage will definitely be someone you want to see step up in the finals. Cash Savage has four points in four games and he should be one of the biggest pieces to watch out for. The leadership he brings to the table will be a huge asset in whether the Knights win or lose.

5) Elias Svensson Knights - With four points in four games, Svensson is our second point a game defenseman in the countdown. Similarly to Moore, any defenseman who manages to score two goals as well as two assists while also being reliable in the defensive zone is always going to be a necessity for teams in the finals looking to take the cup home.

With the Kelowna Gazette I'm Jack Daniels and I'm here with Kelowna Knights winger Vladislav Konstantin. Konstantin and the Knights are currently playing in the SMJHL Finals, in a series which they are currently down 2-1 in, hoping for a turn of the tide tomorrow.

Interview So Konstantin, what do you think needs to change tomorrow in order for the Knights to tie up the series?

Konstantin: We just need to keep playing our game. We've lost our focus on what's important the last couple games and the Whalers punished us for it. I think we need to remember that like us they're in the finals for a reason and they can't be played around with.

Interview What do you think of the ice time you've received so far these playoffs? It's a massive step down from what you got in Detroit.

Konstantin: It just comes with the territory of joining a contending team. I'm a rookie and it's not fair of me to expect ice time over the veterans on the roster. I'll get there soon enough.

Interview What surprised you most about the challenges you would face playing against Vancouver?

Konstantin: Definitely the goaltending. Santos has been killing it and it's hard not to give him the props he deserves for it. Hopefully we'll find a way to solve him soon but until then, he's done a great job.

Written must include 3 stats, either from playoffs or the regular season.
Graphic must include both goalie renders and both team logos.

KELOWNA KNIGHTS - Kata Vilde Regular Season statistics
Record: 29-8-2
Save%: .892
GAA: 2.50

VANCOUVER WHALERS - Greg Santos Regular Season statistics
Record: 28-6-1
Save%: .903
GAA: 2.39

Comparing the two starting goaltenders from the Kelowna Knights and the Vancouver Whalers, it would be impossible not to give Vancouver the edge. Out of the three compared stats. Kelowna only gets the edge in wins however Vancouver does have two less losses so you would still have to give the Whalers the advantage in that regard. The biggest differential, would come in the save percentage category. Greg Santos bests Kata Vilde's record by a whole .011 percent, making his .903 percentage some of the best numbers we've seen all season out of all teams in the league. The last stat to mention, is goals against average, which Vancouver also gets the edge in. Vilde, letting in an even two and a half goals a game on average, is unfortunately weaker than Greg Santos and his 2.39 average. So while Vancouver does get the edge in all three stats we've compared, it is important to keep in mind that it doesn't take into account how much the defense is helping, the quality of shot they're allowing, team morale etc. so it would be best to pay a little closer attention to game footage during the finals if you're looking to make a more accurate comparison on how each of the goalies is playing over the course of the series.

Task #5 - Write a goals highlight play by play for one series winning game OR make an infographic featuring stats from a series winning game.
Requirements: At least 200 words for written / at least 4 stats featured in at least 2 different ways for graphics (bar graphs, pie graphs, list of names, etc)

Michael O'Dowd, Ryan Gardiner, Matej Elias, Kevin Maddox and Daddy Mack currently on the ice for Kelowna's powerplay squad, and Grayson St. Raegan, Muhammad Mclovin, Sean Stevenson Jr. and Rex Kirkby are defending on the penalty kill. St. Raegan bests Michael O'Dowd on the faceoff, back to Muhammad Mclovin, who elects to fire it down into the Knights zone where Kata Vilde grabs it and looks up for a Knight to fire it to. He makes the safe feed to Matej Elias in the defensive zone who finds Daddy Mack in the neutral zone. Mack skates it in to the offensive zone where he fires it from the point, just wide! He manages to beat the defenders to his own rebound where he fires another for a second try, just misses again! This time Kevin Maddox picks up the free puck, skates it into the slot, fires it! AND HE SCOOOOORES! Kevin Maddox with the beauty snipe from the slot, assisted by Daddy Mack and Matej Elias! That tallies the first goal on the board for the Knights, five minutes and fourty-seven seconds into the second period. Lethal work from the powerplay squad, let's see how these special teams fare over the rest of the game.

Task #1 -Pick a player from an eliminated team and slot them into an existing playoff lineup. Who do they replace, why, how do their playoff stats look?
Must include: 150 words.

The Vancouver Whalers have an embarrassment of riches throughout their lineup and a crop of young stars that are poised to remain a championship threat for years to come. However, in this year, the addition of another capped out LW would put perfectly fill out their veteran-heavy top six. Detroit sniper Flacko Lagerfield would be a great addition in this scenario. A well-balanced offensive player who has grown into a proficient two-way player over his SMJHL career, he would be capable of playing off of any of the Whalers' centremen and providing shelter for a number of talented but inexperienced rookie wingers who would, in turn, be able to flourish against lesser competition. He would likely replace Jack Kennedy in the lineup, who is a left wing as well as Vancouver's lowest TPE forward, although Kennedy has a bright future ahead of him. Lagerfield would likely be the thing that helped put the Whalers over the top and win a championship.

Task #2 - Make a top 5 list for the finals. Top 5 goals, top 5 players, top 5 noteworthy people in the audience for one of the games, whatever you want. No word count, but if you just list 5 names, you won't get the full 2 tpe. Be a little creative.

Top 5 players who could step into the spotlight in the championship series:

5.  Whalers Benis Smol is a workhorse centremen for the Vancouver Whalers. Known more for his defensive play than anything else, he's a 53.5% faceoff maestro who was +23 in the regular season. He was held without a point in his five games thus far in the playoffs, but it would surprise nobody if he were to chip in with a key goal on top of his stalwart defensive play.
4. Knights Vladislav Konstantin suffered a significant decrease in icetime after a late-season trade from the Detroit Falcons to the Kelowna Knights, going from an average of 16 to 5 minutes per game. His production fell as well, with only one assist in 11 regular season games with the Knights and one goal in four playoff games. However, he scored well as a Falcon and the talent is there to be able to produce offensively on the biggest stage of the season.
3. Knights Matej Elias is an emerging talent, and what better way to prove he has handled everything the SMJHL can throw at him than by scoring some clutch goals in the championship series? Facing secondary competition with some shelter from a top first line, Elias may be able to break down a strong Whalers team with his skill and emerge victorious.
2. Whalers Kristaps Ball is coming off a tough playoff series on a personal level, with no points in five games. However, he averaged two shots per game and was a 40 point scorer in the regular season. He could without question turn around and be "the guy" in the final.
1. Whalers Jean-Luc Picard is a complete defender who plays effectively on both sides of the puck. While not the most offensively-geared blueliner on the team, he did score 32 points in the regular season and has 3 in 5 games during the playoffs. He puts up a fair amount of shots and hits, and in his over 21 minutes of icetime a game it's no stretch to think he could be the one too produce a booming shot from the point that finds its way through traffic to score an iconic goal. With the Whalers in need of a hero, it would not be surprising to see Picard make it so.

Interviewer: Tig, with your rookie season in the books, what grade would you give the team on the year?

Murphy: I think a B is fair. We weren't expected to make the playoffs going in due to having such a young roster and only a handful of returning players. Making it to that point was a big step and got us some really valuable experience for the future. With that said, we got steamrolled in that playoff series by a team that I have no doubt we are better than. We just didn't bring it to the level we needed to. Part of that is inexperience, so I'm confident that we'll be back and next time, we'll be a threat to win it all.

I: What does the team need to work on to reach the level of a Kelowna Knights or Vancouver Whalers squad?

M: We definitely need to work on our team defense. Too many times this year we forced Robinson to have to carry us in net, and while it's nice to have the confidence in knowing he can do that for us, we're not helping ourselves by spending so much time in our own end. We've got a lot of talented forwards developing every time we step on the ice, so I'm confident that we're going to be a force to be reckoned with on the offensive side. My job will be to get them the puck and let them do their thing.

I: Do you plan on watching the Championship?

M: No. I haven't watched a minute of playoff hockey since we got eliminated. It doesn't do me any good to worry about other teams when I could be working on improving for next year, plus the pain of getting eliminated is still pretty fresh.

Task #4 - Write 200 words or make a graphic highlighting any goalie matchup of the series.
Written must include 3 stats, either from playoffs or the regular season.
Graphic must include both goalie renders and both team logos.

Goaltending Battle in the Championship Series - Who has the edge?

Knights Kelowna Knights: Over time, Kata Vilde has proven to be one of the SMJHL's best, starting 39 of Kelowna's 50 games this season and has continued to hold steady in the net thus far in the playoffs. Vilde is coming off a dominant series against Anchorage, allowing 4 goals in 4 games.

Whalers Greg Santos started fewer games than many other SMJHL goalies, but he was a beast in his appearances. However, he's coming off a solid, but uneven performance against the Montreal Militia.

                                  Whalers                    Knights
Regular Season         Greg Santos            Kata Vilde
Save %                         .903                      .892
GAA                               2.39                      2.50
Wins                               28                        29
Shutouts                          3                          0
Assists                             2                          2
_______
Playoffs
Save %                         .860                     .947
GAA                              2.69                      1.00
Wins                                4                        4
Shutouts                          0                         1
Assists                             0                         1

Santos definitely carries the slight edge of a better regular season, with a higher save percentage and three shutouts to Vilde's zero. Both are accomplished puckhandlers capable of kickstarting the breakout and even contributing to the occasional offensive chance. Vilde also played more games over the course of the season, and there may be the potential for fatigue to set in during the Championship series.

On the other hand Vilde has strongly outplayed Santos thus far in the playoffs, allowing just a goal per game with a .947 save percentage while Santos put up a far less remarkable .860. In the playoffs, the hot hand often wins out, and there is no doubt that Vilde is red hot at the moment.

Final verdict:  Knights

Vilde gets the edge based on recent performance and will look to keep the momentum going against Santos in the final.

Task #5 - Write a goals highlight play by play for one series winning game OR make an infographic featuring stats from a series winning game.
Requirements: At least 200 words for written / at least 4 stats featured in at least 2 different ways for graphics (bar graphs, pie graphs, list of names, etc)

Kelowna vs Anchorage - Game 4: 17:13 of 3rd period - Goal by Cash Savage - Kelowna Knights : 4 - Anchorage Armada : 0.

And with time running out here in the third period of a must-win game, it seems that the Armada have taken a costly penalty here. The ref has awarded a double minor for roughing to Karl von Wittelsbach, and down 3-0 with just five minutes remaining, the situation has gone from bad to worse for Anchorage.

O'Dowd lines up against Carter for the faceoff, and wins it. Now a scrum for the puck along the boards, it pops out to Maddox who lets a shot go, a save there by Benjamin Blue as he steers the rebound into the corner. Kolesnikovs carrying the puck behind the net and is HIT HARD by Matej Elias who comes away with the puck. The puck is fed back around to Fischer who walks in, nice move there on the defender, HE SHOOTS, save by Blue. Svensson puts a weak one back on the net, and it's turned aside by Blue as Kelowna looks to keep grinding this one out, showing no signs of letting Anchorage back into this one.

The puck is fired down the ice and corralled by Vilde, who leaves it for Svensson, Svensson now with a quick pass up to Fischer who cuts into the zone, Fischer keeps, skates around the net, feeds it out in front for SAVAGE WHO SCORES! CASH SAVAGE with his second goal of the period has put this game, and this series, out of reach with three minutes to go!

A high-skill play there by Fischer who drew in the defenders, allowing Savage to do what he does best: get open and let it fly. The Armada bench looks absolutely crestfallen, and the Kelowna Knights will again be advancing to the Championship series.

Task #1 -Pick a player from an eliminated team and slot them into an existing playoff lineup. Who do they replace, why, how do their playoff stats look?
Must include: 150 words.

From the Vancouver Whalers, I would move RW Carl Russo from the wing over to Center and eliminate Soren Kierkegard from the line, then slot my own player Nicky Pedersen Jr. into his slot in the lineup.  Moving Russo to center is a little out there, however, with his build he is better at Faceoffs than Soren, meaning, the 3rd line would theoretically win more faceoffs, having control of the puck more, and giving more opportunities to score.  However, the real reason I'd insert Pedersen onto this line is that I am such a big fan of Wasty, with my dad having played for him in LA, seeing how this season has been a struggle for Max Maudin statistically, I would hope that Pedersen could spark something to help Maudin find his legs out there.  Dropping the pass first center isn't always advised, but this is made up purposes, and lets face it that the line was not getting it done, maybe changing it up would do wonders for the group.  One thing is clear, the new line would be sound defensively, especially for three rookies, all have the ability to score, and can skate with anyone they went up against.  The only foreseeable problem, would be who is passing the puck, with all their ratings in the 60s.  But like I said this is for fun, and it would be nice to see if the change could light a spark and contribute to a championship.

Task #2 -  top 5 noteworthy people in the audience for one of the games.

1. Rolling Stone Lead Singer: MICK JAGGER!!!! Who knew he liked hockey, and is looking very well considering he's about 90:
[Image: http%3A%2F%2Fi.huffpost.com%2Fgen%2F2127...28x314.jpg]

2. WWE Superstar - Rey Mysterio - Another surprising Vancouver fan!

3. Selina Gomez hiding in a wig and big sunglasses, and her friend Big Boobs McGhee

4. The Bavaria Girls snuck in again before they got Thrown out!.

5. GREEN MAN SIGHTING!!! - Oh those Green Men and their Shenanigans...

Task #3 - Interview How did your first season with the St. Louis Scarecrows go?
Honestly, it was a highly disappointing season, one that will hopefully go down as the lowpoint of my career.  It's one thing to miss out on the playoffs, its another to miss out on the playoffs in a tiebreak situation.  It makes the fact that we are at home watching even worse.   What is more depressing, is that we had a fantastic preseason, had the best record in the league, then got hit with a late send down, that threw the chemistry the team had built for a loop.  Personally, my season sucked.  I think I had 1 point thru the first 15 games of the season, had a shooting percentage less than 3% at one point.  The good thing is that I turned it around and ended up with a decent season all things considered.  Going forward, this type of season has the chance to do two things, sulk about it or learn from it and build off of it.  I'm doing the later,  hitting the gym extra hard, no time off after the season ended.  This week, I am going to watch the SHL championship, where my father is playing for his 5th cup in his last season in the league.  But once that is over, back to the grind.

Task #4 - Write 200 words or make a graphic highlighting any goalie matchup of the series.
Written must include 3 stats, either from playoffs or the regular season.

What more can you say about this goalie matchup in the finals.  You have the amazing Kata Vilde playing at the top of his game, scorching thru the Semi Finals with a 4 and 0 record, .947 Save Percentage, while giving up 1.00 goals a game.  You will not find better stats from a goalie in a series, flat out standing on his head, leading the Knights to the Finals.  On the other side of the matchup, Vancouver's Greg Santos has an impressive 4-0-1 record, however, digging a bit deeper into his splits, you can see how Vancouver simply outscored their opponent in the Semis.  Santos sports a .869 Save Percentage and a 2.67 Goals against average, both number are subpar for a backstop that is hoping to lead his team to the Four Star Cup.  Verdict: This is a tough one to predict, simply put the Knights and Vilde arn't playing a cupcake in the finals, they are facing a strong Whalers Offense, however in the end I believe that even though the Whalers are a step up in class from the Armada, Kata Vilde, will continue his hot goal tending and lead the Knights to the Four Star Cup.

Task #5 - Write a goals highlight play by play for one series winning game OR make an infographic featuring stats from a series winning game.
Requirements: At least 200 words for written

Game 37 - Montreal Militia v. Vancouver Whalers - Vancouver leads the series 3 games to 1.

With Montreal's back against the wall in this pivitol game five of the Conference Semi finals, the Militia knew they would have to leave it all out on the ice to try and force the series back to Montreal for Game Six. Right out of the gate, Montreal was flying, scoring their first goal at 6:30 of the first period on the powerplay. Just over two minutes later, Montreal found the back of the net again, up 2 to 0 in Vancouver, in an elimination game. The Militia players spirits were as high as can be, maybe they got a little too cocky? Who knows, but Vancouver wasn't going to roll over and collapse that is for sure. It took all of 21 seconds for this game to turn on a dime. 3 Minutes after that, we are all knotted up at 2. Montreal showed some real character, by not rolling over, jumping back on top with a power play goal 1 minute and 6 seconds later. Then the wheels fell off. Vancouver scoring goals 30 seconds apart nearing the end of the 1st period, giving the Whalers their first lead of the game in the wild west shootout. Montreal was clearly rattled, as we join the action for the start of the 2nd period of play.

Cody Johansen of Montreal wins face-off versus Soren Kierkegaard in neutral zone. Pass to Charlie Schieck, who dumps the puck deep into the Vancouver Whalers zone Kastrba retrieves the puck, and hits Geoff Moore in-stride in the neutral zone. Moore crosses the blue line into the Montreal Militia zone. Moore moves past a defender and shoots.. Blocked by Grease La Roache! Kastrba finds the free Puck, the goalie is off balance...Shot by David Kastrba........GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!Kastrba!

8. Vancouver Whalers , David Kastrba 3 (Geoff Moore 3) at 0:16 (PP)

At 16 seconds of the 2nd period, Vancouver goes up 5-3, effectively ending the Militia's season, as they were only to bring the game one goal closer, losing 5-4.

Task #1 -Pick a player from an eliminated team and slot them into an existing playoff lineup. Who do they replace, why, how do their playoff stats look?
Must include: 150 words.

Troy McClure III -- Colorado Raptors
After putting up big offensive numbers and solid defensive stats throughout the regular season, Colorado's Troy McClure III would be a welcomed addition to any team in the SMJHL. The high-scoring, defensively-responsible offspring of Troy McClure Jr. would be quite literally provide a MASSIVE boost to the Vancouver Whalers' blue line. Standing--in sneakers!--at 6'8 and weighing 271 pounds, Troy McClure III would eat big (think all-you-can-eat big) minutes and plug many holes with that massive wing span. Judging by Troy McClure III's consistency, it can be safely assumed that he would continue his torrid scoring pace from the regular season. It can be assumed he would be contributing a handful on goals to accompany his truckload of assists. His shot and and vision would bolster the power play and his shot blocking and positioning would help lock down the penalty kill. Jussi Hammanen would unfortunately have to come out of the line up to make room for the gigantic d-man. This is not an admonishment on Jussi Hammanen in the slightest, but a testament on the Whalers' depth.

Interview with Jack Kennedy:

We are here with Vancouver Whaler rookie Jack Kennedy; Thanks for taking a minute to talk with us here on Vancouver's Sportsnet 650 AM

- Of course guys thanks for having me on.

Let's get right to it. How does it feel to be on this Cup run?

-It's honestly a dream come true. I'm so grateful to be a part of this-- in any way. I'm learning so much and chipping in where I can.

Can you elaborate on the learning experience?

-Just being around some of the older guys, who have been here before. You know, seeing how they handle it. Seeing how they prepare. I'm trying to be a sponge on and off the ice.

Last night's win was big for this city. How important was it to the team to tie up the series on home ice?

-Oh obviously huge you know. Going down 2-0 to a team of their caliber was not a place we wanted to be. The fans have been great throughout this home-ice, so it was great to win in front of them. They've been with us every step of the way.

What do you--Jack Kennedy--do in preparation for game three in Kelowna?

-I'm actually at the airport right now for the short flight up there. That's the nice part of playing your inter-province rival. I'm going to drink and eat like I have before every game this year. Routine is key. I'll have a good morning skate. You know, gotta get my legs ready. Playing the low minutes I am it's kinda hard to stay fresh, but it's my responsibility to be ready to go and fulfill my role when ever the coach calls our line. But yeah boys, the planes boarding now, so I gotta jet. Thanks for having me on. Appreciate it.

And there you have it, sounds like business as usual for the Whalers' forward Jack Kennedy.

Task #4 - Write 200 words or make a graphic highlighting any goalie matchup of the series.
Written must include 3 stats, either from playoffs or the regular season.
Graphic must include both goalie renders and both team logos.

This past Challenge Cup was one for the ages. The series went 6 close games, and goal tending had a major impact on each out come. For the Vancouver Whalers, Santos shouldered most of the load; however, Leitner appeared in relief twice. Kelowna Knights goalie, Vilde, started--and finished--every game of the final series. Goal tending is often the difference maker in the playoffs, but in this series the numbers show that Vancouver's net minding actually just kept it close. For example, the tandem of Santos and Leitner finished with 2 wins and 4 losses. Whereas, the Knights went 4 and 2 with Vilde in the crease. Obviously the wins collumn eclipses all other categories in terms of significance. This is why the Knights aren't too concerned that the Whalers' goalies numbers are actually better. Considering Santos and Leitner stopped 182 out of 197 shots, posting a .923 save percentage. Vilde turned aside 123 of 137 (.898) shots fired his way. Santos and Leitner did everything they could to put their team in a position to win. Santon even was named the 1st star in game 2 and the 2nd star in game 4. Vilde earned 1st star honours in game 5. These numbers would suggest that Vancouver's goalies were certainly tested more, and that Vilde was there when they needed him to make the stops needed to win games. Ultimately, the Whalers skaters needed to put more shots on net, as the Knights averaged 10 more shots per game then the team from Vancouver. The Knights put up 32.83 shots on average to the Whalers 22.83.

Task #5 - Write a goals highlight play by play for one series winning game OR make an infographic featuring stats from a series winning game.
Requirements: At least 200 words for written / at least 4 stats featured in at least 2 different ways for graphics (bar graphs, pie graphs, list of names, etc)

It's every kid's dream growing up to score the goal that winds up putting your team over the top in the championships. A goal for every player is to score the ultimate game winning goal. And on the streets from Vancouver Island all the way to Cape Sear, New Brunswick, the GWG is always scored in Overtime. This dream was realized by Kelowna Knights skater, Matej Elias in game six of the SMJHL Challenge Cup. Here is a clip from that radio broadcast, which is sure to send chills down the spines of Kelowna fans for years to come:

"...the Knights players are really whipping the puck around now. These passes are hard and crisp for this point of the game, and the Whalers forwards are tired and chasing. Knights' second line still out here, Whalers could use a change. Ryan Gardiner with it now, puck on the half wall. Gardnier slides it down low to Cash Savage. Savage battling down low. Elias Svensson tapping his stick on the ice, he wants the puck. Savage finds Svensson at the point. Svensson walks the blue line, winds up, fakes, takes... SCORESSSSSSSSSS! It's Gardiner on the door step! What tremendous visions by Svensson to find Gardiner back door. Santos was out to far, too agressive, he over played the situation. Gardiner had the whole net and made no mistake. Knights Win! Knights  Win! Knights win in overtime!"

Tig Murphy will be replacing Greg Connors in Kelwona Knights. Greg Connors hasent been showing skills he was expected. Tig Murphy has showed some excellent play's and excellent performance's through out the season!
Here are the Stats to compere. Reg Season: Tig Murphy: 4 Goals 27 Assists in 50 games. Greg Connors: 3 Goals 10 Assists in 50 games. Playoffs: Tig Murphy: 0 Goals 3 Assists in 5 games. Greg Connors: 0 Goals 1 Assist in 4 Games. As Greg Connors in playing in the 3rd line of Defense man. I think Tig Could be Moved to 2nd line and Darren McCarty could be dropped to 3rd line. Heck Tig could be 1st line Defense Man along side Kevin Maddox!

Task #1 -Pick a player from an eliminated team and slot them into an existing playoff lineup. Who do they replace, why, how do their playoff stats look?
Must include: 150 words.

If there was a player for me to take from one team to another it would be star Center Jax Aittokallio. Jax Aittokallio would be removed from the Anchorage Armada to the Kelowna Knights. The Knights are a dominant team however one may never have too much depth at the center position. Jax Aittokallio currently has 280 training hours which is 70 away from the maximum allowed in the SMJHL. By Adding him to the Kelowna Knights they will receive a young center with top flight ability and elite potential who can bolster their playoff run. Not only that, Jax Aittokallio is an amazing leader who helps those around him get better with advice on how to train. Not only that but he will help win face offs for the Knights who will truly win nearly all of them if Jax was transferred over to their team. Lastly, I would assume that Jax would average roughly .65 points per game in the playoffs mainly with assists in order to help the Knights continue to advance through the playoffs.

Task #2 - Make a top 5 list for the finals. Top 5 goals, top 5 players, top 5 noteworthy people in the audience for one of the games, whatever you want. No word count, but if you just list 5 names, you won't get the full 2 tpe. Be a little creative.

Top 5 Points leaders for the finals predictions:
- Daddy Mac (KEL)
- Eriks Skalberg (VAN)
- Geoff Moore (VAN)
- Ryan Gardiner (KEL)
- Elias Svennson (KEL)

Task #3 - Either write an interview with your player about your team's playoff hopes (or if you're on an eliminated team, an interview about your team's season in review) OR create a program cover for one of the games in any playoff series.
Requirements: Written option - At least 200 words. Graphic option - Logos of both teams in the matchup and at least one player render.

TSN: Hi Bust we wanted to interview you about you and your team's season in review. It was a bit of an up and down year for the team as well as for you so I would like to know how you dealt with everything emotionally.

Bust: Well it was not the easiest season emotionally as we had a very inconsistent year at points. There were certain SMJHL teams we just could not compete with and overall we are a very young team. Overall I loved my season however I wish I did not stall as much as I did in the middle of the year. I came out to a hot start scoring plenty in the beginning however at one point the well ran dry. It was great winning that first playoff series but the Knights were simply too much for us.

TSN: Tell me more about the playoffs for you guys.

Bust: Well our first round matchup went great and I wish the momentum carried better to the next round however we simply ran into a better team that is currently tied 1-1 in the finals versus the Vancouver Whalers.

TSN: Could you tell me why you guys struggled at points?

Bust: It is to be expected, many of our players were young and needed time to develop. If the season was two more weeks long I believe we could have trained a lot more and become a much more well-rounded team.

TSN: Well it was great to have you on and I wish you great luck for the SHL draft and your team good luck for the next season.

Bust: Thank you!

Task #4 - Write 200 words or make a graphic highlighting any goalie matchup of the series.
Written must include 3 stats, either from playoffs or the regular season.
Graphic must include both goalie renders and both team logos.

Many people who will be looking at this SMJHL final will be looking at the top scorers, or the defensemen who move the puck the best however the position which can prove to be the difference by the end of the series is the goaltender position. The two starting goalies in the final seem to be some of the leaders for the year. Greg Santos (Vancouver Whalers), and Kata Vilde (Kelowna Knights) led the league in wins with 28 and 29 wins respectively and were both high in the save percentage leaderboard. Greg Santos was the only goalie with a save percentage above 90 percent at a clip of 90.3 percent, while Vilde had an a save percentage average of 89.2 percent which was fourth best for SMJHL goalies. Overall you can expect both goalies to play at the top of their games in the final and compete versus each other against the some of the top scorers in the league. Despite similar save percentages, if there ever is a penalty shot, Greg Santos would be the goalie with the clear advantage with a 92 percent save percentage on penalty shots while Vilde only has a 77.8 percent chance at saving those opportunities. This SMJHL final possesses many top scorers, however the goalies will definitely make the final difference in this series.

Task #5 - Write a goals highlight play by play for one series winning game OR make an infographic featuring stats from a series winning game.

Task 1:

We will see what would happen if we placed St. Louis LW Nicholas Williams into the Kelowna lineup. First we need to decide where he would fit best, for this hypothetical situation we've decided to place him on the 2nd line with Fenton Uriel and Matej Elias. Both Williams and Cash Savage play similar styles which makes it easier to guess how things would play out. Savage has scored 3 goals and 1 assist in 4 games, I feel that while Williams would score 1 less goal, he would have an extra assist to his total. I think Williams would have less success on the powerplay than Savage but would perform better at 5 on 5 play. In this scenario Kelowna would still make the finals but it would have taken an extra game to do it in.  The Knights would have lost a tough overtime game against Ancorage would fuel the Knights to victory in the next game.
(Word Count: 159)

Task 2:

Top 5 players so far in the current SMJHL Playoffs.

5. Rafe Ulrich (Montreal) 4 goals, 4 assists, and a +4 in 9 games made Ulrich the top player for the Militia.

4. Geoff Moore (Vancouver) 5 points in 5 games and a +2 makes Moore one of the top Defenseman in these playoffs.

3. Eriks Skalbergs (Vancouver) The Whalers best player so far in these playoffs has 2 goals and 5 assists in just 5 games.

2. Kata Vilde (Kelowna) The Knights goalie has been rock solid in net in his 4 starts. Having 4 wins, 1 shutout, and an incredible .947 save percentage.

1. Daddy mack (Kelowna) In only 4 games, Mack has shown he is a top set up man with 8 assists. He (along with Vilde) is considered to be the biggest reason for the Knights success in these playoffs.

Task 3:

We caught up with St Louis Scarecrows rookie and asked him some questions about his season, the current playoffs, and his upcoming draft into the SHL.

Q -  How do you feel your first season with the Scarecrows went? Better or worse than expected?
A - It wasn't the best season a rookie could ask for, but it just leaves alot of room for improvement for me next year.

Q - Who do you feel will have the biggest turnaround on your team next year? (besides yourself)
A - Aleister Cain, he may be the most determined to prove just good he is, and I fully expect him to succeed beyond his own expectations.

Q - Do you have any preference on which team drafts you or even in what round?
A - I have absolutely no preference where or when I get drafted. I would love to stay with some of my current teammates, but I feel that the team that drafts me is the one that wanted me the most and I want to prove theyes made the right choice.

Q - Who do you think will win the Four Star Cup final (and in how many games?)
A -  While I have no strong preference, I do believe that Kelowna is going to pull it off in 5 games. They just have the better overall team and their goalie is on absolute fire right now.
(Word Count: 230)

Task 4:

Today we preview the goalie match up between Kelowna and Vancouver. First we'll start by talking about Kelowna netminder Kata Vilde. So far in the playoffs Vilde has been solid with a 4-0 record, an impressive 0.947 save percentage, and a 1.00 GAA.0 with 1 shutout. In the regular season, Vilde won 29 of 40 games with a save percentage of 0.892, and a GAA of 2.50. On the opposite end of the ice will be Vancouver goalie Greg Santos. In the regular season, Santos was victorious in 28 of 35 starts. He finished with a 0.903 save percentage and a 2.39 GAA. This gives the regular season edge to Santos. The playoffs however has been a different story. Santos has gone 4 - 0 - 1 with a save percentage of 0.860 and a GAA of 2.69 and no shutouts. So the playoff edge goes to Kata Vilde. If these stats stay consistent, Kelowna will be the champions, but if Santos can get back to his regular season form, Vancouver may be able to pull off the upset (and he has shown that he can do so.). Now we can only sit back and enjoy hopefully strong battle of the netminders. (Word Count:200)

Task 5:

Today we will be breaking down all 9 goals scored in the series clinching game between the Montreal Militia and the Vancouver Whalers.

Goal 1 Viktor Valentine scores a beauty after a great pass from Harvey Danger. (Assists: Harvey Danger, Kevin Kazarian)

Goal 2 Mason Hudson with a lucky bounce that goes just passed the goal line. (Assists: Harvey Danger, Marco Raanteli)

Goal 3 Buck Maverick with a takeaway that leads to a very nice looking goal. (Assists: David Kastrba, Eriks Skalbergs)

Goal 4 Jussi Hammanen with the rebound to tie the game at 2 - 2. (Assists: Noah Nowes, Luke Thomason)

Goal 5 Radovan Hudec with a wrister after another nice passing play setup. (Assists: Charlie Schieck, Piotr Czerkawski)

Goal 6 David Kastrba gets hit by the puck off a Eriks Skalbergs shot and gets credited with the goal to the the game again. (Assists: Eriks Skalbergs, Jean-Luc Picard)

Goal 7 Luke Thomason with what some have called the goal of the game. (Assists: Jack Kennedy, Noah Nowes)

Goal 8 David Kastrba gets a nice shot passed the line and brings Khalil Anthony into the game. This would become the series clinching goal. (Assist: Geoff Moore)

Goal 9 Cody Johansen get the final Montreal goal of the playoffs here on the rebound. (Assists: Rafe Ulrich, Marco Raanteli)

Task #1 - Pick a player from an eliminated team and slot them into an existing playoff lineup. Who do they replace, why, how do their playoff stats look?
Must include: 150 words.

I believe if you add a player like Philipp Winter from the Colorado Raptors into the Vancouver Whalers lineup you'd find that Kelowna would not have won in six games but most likely would've been a sweep. Now I'm not saying that offense was the problem for the Whalers but just adding a talent like Philipp you are just increasing your talent by tenfold. Replacing someone like that scrub bust, Max Mauldin on the team's third line, Philipp would instantly gel with Max's linemates creating one badass line, kicking Mauldin to the pressbox to munch on hotdogs while his teammates lift the cup is exactly what is needed. Max would still get a ring but atleast wouldn't waste precious ice time that someone much better could've used. Even though if you look at their talent levels Philipp isn't THAT much better than Max, it just seems like Max plays the game like a dead body and Philipp plays the game like someone with actual talent.

Task #1 -Pick a player from an eliminated team and slot them into an existing playoff lineup. Who do they replace, why, how do their playoff stats look?
Must include: 150 words.

I'd take Cameron Carter II from Anchorage and replace Fenton Uriel in the Kelowna Knights' lineup. Carter had been on fire for the last 15 games of the regular season and carried that into the playoffs and was unfortunate that Anchorage couldn't do the business and get past Kelowna in the second round. However Carter had 8 (3G, 5A) points in 9 games, a +2 rating and 20 hits all while taking less than 20 minutes a night. Over four games Uriel averaged almost identical ice time per game but only managed to pick up 1 assist for a Kelowna team that absolutely dominated the Armada. I think that Carter would have maintained his scoring record and have picked up another two goals and two assists in the finals series leaving him with a stats line of:
GP: 13 G: 5 A: 7 P: 12 +/-: +3 Hits: 30. Who knows? With Carter on the team the Knights may have already wrapped up the series.

In the second round match up between Kelowna and Anchorage the Armada were blown off the ice by the refs. The series ended with an enormously lopsided penalty count of 27-5 with Kelowna seemingly spending more time lying down on the ice than skating on it. Without further adieu here is Kelowna's top five dives.

TSN: Rex, bad luck buddy that was a real tough series. What went wrong out there?

RK: Pretty much everything honestly. None of the bounces went our way and after how well we did against Detroit it feels like a real let down to get swept.

TSN: Anything else you could have perhaps done to swing the series your way?

RK: Its hard to say really. The officials weren't giving us any help and Kata Vilde over there in net was like a brick wall.

TSN: Now that your seasons over what do you have planned?

RK: I'm going to take a couple of weeks holiday. Head back home to visit the family in London and then maybe spend a week or two somewhere warm. Then I'll be back in the gym looking to get in shape for the draft and the new season.

TSN: You must be excited for the draft? Where do you think you'll go?

RK: I hope I performed and trained hard enough this year to go in the first couple of rounds. I have a couple of teams that I'd like to go to but at the end of the day I'll play hard for whoever selects me.

TSN: Can we expect to see you in the SHL then next year?

RK: I doubt it. I really want to win a cup for Anchorage and I still have a fair bit of learning and developing to do. That being said it will all depend on the needs of the team that takes me.

TSN: Thanks for taking the time to speak to us Rex and good luck for next season!

RK: No worries, cheers.

Task #4 - Write 200 words or make a graphic highlighting any goalie matchup of the series.
Written must include 3 stats, either from playoffs or the regular season.

Both goalies in the finals series come into it after playing only one round due to their stellar regular season performances leading their teams to first round byes. Despite the fact that both teams had relatively easy paths into the finals, Kelowna sweeping Anchorage and Vancouver beating Montreal in five, the stats sheets for the men between the pipes couldn't be more different.

For Kelowna, Vilde had a dominant series against the Armada. On top of recording a shutout he posted a phenomenal save percentage of 0.947 and allowed only 4 goals on 76 shots in the other three games. Incredibly Vilde only earned one second star in the series despite being probably the Knights' second best player behind Daddy Mack.

In the Whalers crease is Greg Santos. Despite a relatively straightforward series for Vancouver Santos was at times left exposed. He ended the series with a well below par 0.860 save percentage and allowed 14 goals on 100 shots against and will certainly be hoping that he has a better time keeping pucks out of the net in the Cup finals.

Based on the performances of the two net minders Vancouver will be needing a big improvement from Santos if they are to triumph over Kelowna. As it stands its hard to see the Knights not winning their third consecutive cup if Vilde keeps up his performances.

Here are the goal highlights for the decisive fifth game in this first round match up between Detroit and Anchorage.

Detroit dump the puck in and start to change. Kirkby skates around the boards behind the net, picks up the puck and moves up ice. Entering the neutral zone he slings a cross ice pass to Bust. Bust drives to the outside. Drop pass for Tuch on the blue line. Tuch winds up to shoot but slap passes to Bust who has ghosted in front. SCOOOOOOOOREEES. Bust took the pass right on his tape and deftly flicked the puck over Robinson's outstretched glove.  The Armada up one to nothing!  Bust 3 (Badum Tuch 3, Rex Kirkby 1) at 1:10

Niemi fires a quick wrister. Blocked my Murphy and he picks up the lose puck. Passes to Paquette in the neutral zone now. Pulls the puck back for Murphy. Lays it off to Palicka, Palicka crosses the blueline, passes down the halfway to Paquette, back to Palicka, returns it to Paquette. One timer! GOAL!
Detroit have pulled one back and its all square half way through the first. Xavier Paquette 1 (Marc Palicka 1, Tig Murphy 3) at 11:32

The Armada bank the puck off the boards and change the lines but its taken a funny bounce off the stanchion! Richter is onto it in a flash and stabs the puck towards Pingu and hes on the breakaway! Bleu comes out to challenge, Pingu dekes. GOAL. Pingu faked the wrister then quickly moved the puck to the backhand and slid it behind Bleu's skate. Two one and the Falcons take the lead. Pingy Pingu 2 (Wolfhard Richter 2) at 13:54

The Falcons reset behind their own net and look for an opening up ice. Siddals moves out from behind the net and looks to release Asia down the left hand side but Dimmadome sees the play coming and intercepts the pass. Cross ice pass to St. Raegan. One timer! Blocked by Viklund but the puck ricochets off his shin guard and falls to Kolesnikovs. Wrister! SCOOOOOOOOOREES. The puck came out to Kolesnikovs who had no one around him. He had all the time in the world to get his head up and pick his spot. Back even as we head towards the end of the second. Viktor Kolesnikovs 2 (Grayson St. Raegan 4, Doug Dimmadome 4) at 18:11

Blue retrieves the dump in and drops the puck behind the net. Tuch takes the puck at speed and races out of the Armada zone. Short pass to Natostado. Natostado to Mason. Mason gets tied up along the boards but manages to flick the puck between his legs to Baloo. Baloo dances along the blue line and slides the puck to Natostado at the top of the left side circle. Natostado winds up...SCOOOOOREES. That was a laser beam and Robinson couldn't get his blocker up fast enough to deflect the shot. Armada leading and Detroit need to score next if they are to keep this series alive. Geno Natostado 1 (Tucker Baloo 3, Ryan Mason 1) at 3:14

Face off in the Detroit zone now. The Falcons on the penalty kill really need a big win here. Puck drops and Aittokallio gets there first. Kirkby swoops in and sends the pass around the boards to Dimmadome whos moved in behind the net. Dimmadome in turns sends the puck back around to Stevenson Jr. at the point. The defenseman fires one through traffic. Save Robinson but he can't hold it! Pucks loose and theres a scramble out in front. Where is it? GOOOOOAAAAAAL. It was hard to tell where the puck was due to the pile up but Bust was able to get his stick to the puck and shovel it home. The Armada up by two and its hard to see the Falcons coming back from here. Bust 4 (Sean Stevenson Jr. 1, Doug Dimmadome 5) at 8:55 (PP)

4-2 to the Armada as we head back to central ice for the face off. Detroit in desperation mode now. Puck drops and McGirthensons ties up his man allowing Natostado to claim the loose puck. Natostado flips the puck into the Detroit zone and Von Wittelsbach skates onto it. Von Wittelsbach drives in deep and fires the puck across the front of the crease. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL. After releasing Von Wittelsbach Natostado drove hard to the net where he was presented with the easiest of tap ins. five to two in the Armadas favour and with that Robinson will be relieved by Ricky Lewis. The Armada are heading towards a second round match up with Kelowna. Geno Natostado 2 (Karl Von Wittelsbach 4, Steve McGirthensons 1) at 9:01

Task #1

If I were to switch out a player on one of the remaining teams left in the finals, I would selfishly remove Kelowna 4th line right winger Boris Denisovich and replace him with my player, Mason Hudson. My rationale for the decision is pretty straightforward. The league has heard a whole lot out of Boris in the last little bit, whereas I would be an active member around the boards. You would find me promoting the finals and hyping my team up to win the Four Star Cup Finals. I pretty much would just love to be a part of the finals and would help raise the activity levels of the SMJHL. I believe that my player’s stats would increase healthily, as I was looking at 5 points (one goal and four assists) in 9 games played throughout the first two rounds. I could see my player holding this pace, especially on a team like Kelowna. In, let’s say 10 games (being conservative) that Kelowna will play this playoffs, I would expect my player to amass around 6 or 7 points form the fourth line.

Task #2

#5 - PK Subban in the crowd in Montreal
In what some might view as a controversial move, PK Subban was at the Militia’s Game 4 win against the Colorado Raptors. Subban was traded from the Montreal Canadiens last season and is viewed as a very polarizing figure in the Montreal hockey scene.

#4 - Paul Bissonnette in the crowd in Vancouver
The Spittin’ Chiclets host attended his west-coast hometown SMJHL team’s Game 1 loss to the Militia, and was seen leaving this building angrily. Rumour has it he was on the phone with RA and Whits, lining up a new segment of Chiclets regarding the SMJHL playoffs.

#3 - Scott Gomez in the crowd in Anchorage
The hometown hockey washout attended a few Armada games this playoff, and evidently didn’t bring them much luck in their pursuit of the Four Star Cup! Maybe ban this guy from the rink, Anchorage…

#2 - Patrick Roy in the crowd in Denver
Patrick Roy was seen in public in Denver for the first time in a while after leaving the helm of the Colorado Avalanche recently. Sources tell us that he’s looking to start his own pro hockey league and the SMJHL is a great place to scout for upcoming talent!

#1 - The Green Men in Kelowna
The two fans notorious for messing with players in the penalty box at Vancouver Canucks games have moved out to Kelowna! Watch out for them beside the box in the Four Star Cup Finals!

Task #3

Jay Onrait: So Mason Hudson, give us a run down of what we saw out there in the plyoffs from your Montreal Militia.

Mason Hudson: Well Jay, the first round, we were just absolutely rolling. We knew that everyone was looking down on us going into the playoffs, as we just barely made it into the fold. So we needed to make a statement to let teams know that we were for real and that we weren’t just gonna lay down and take a first round exit. We were talking in the locker room, and Keygan is a huge analytics guy. He told us that the odds of us sweeping the Colorado Raptors were a measly 4%. And hey, what happened? Four straight games and goodbye Colorado. I was super proud of the guys, and we knew that Vancouver was going to be tough as hell.

JO: What happened with Vancouver?

MH: Well, to be honest with you Jay, we just ran out of steam. We has won something like 10 of our last 12 regular season games, and we were on an adrenaline high against Colorado. The Vancouver series was like hitting a brick wall. We came out ahead in Game 1, but after that, it was an uphill race. I’m still super happy with our season though, and looking forward to next season!

Task #4

Well, let’s look at the big important goalie matchup of the playoffs here. The Vancouver Whalers and Kelowna Knights have met in the SMJHL Four Star Cup Finals, and I think you could’ve said that at the beginning of the year, and not many people would’ve argued with you. In goalie for Kelowna, we have the Swedish back stopper Kata Vilde. He boasted a regular season record of 29-8-2, good for the most wins among SMJHL goalies. He also showed up with a .892 save percentage, which was about mid-tier in the league, and held the second best goals against average. His Whaler counterpart, Greg Santos, put up a 28-6-1 record, for the second most wins in the SMJHL. However, he lead all junior goaltenders in save percentage, with a .903 mark and also kept a 2.39 goals against average, which was good for the top of the league. Comparing the two, I would say that Vancouver has the slight edge in the goaltending department in this series. Although Vide had a win more, Santos boasted better individual numbers that could be the key to success for the Whalers in this series. Add in the fact that Santos held down the fort for 3 shutouts, and I think that one could easily say Vancouver wins the goaltending battle here.

Task #5

Welcome to Game 4 here between the Montreal Militia and the Colorado Raptors! The Militia can close out the series tonight with a win, so the Raptor really have to fight for their life. Let's get to the action!

Right off of the puck drop, the Militia are on the attack. Rafe Ulrich makes a big hit and is in on a two on one with Marco Raanteli! Ulrich fakes a wrister, and Crawfling bites on it! He slides the puck cross-crease to Raanteli, and that's an easy tap in for the Montreal man! 1-0 Militia, and the building is going wild!

Fast-forward to half-way through the first period, and we've got an offensive faceoff for the Raptors in Montreal's zone. Cody Johansen wins the draw, but the Militia lose the puck and are forced into defensive mode in their own end. The Raptors are cycling the puck aorund, looking for the perfect opportunity. What's this? Phillip Winter takes a shot....oh, just wide! But Maui follows up on it...that's in the back of the net! 1-1 halfway through the first!

A faceoff now and the Militia win it, but are quickly dispossessed. However, Rahotep Tutankhamun recovers the loose puck and rips a shot from the blue line....goal! The Militia are on top in this game.

Now in the second period, the Milita are threatening again! Mason Hudson takes a shot...deflection by Radovan Hudec! Great save by Crawfling. That'll be a faceoff. The puck is won directly to Hudec, who one times it....GOALLLLL!!! 3-1 Militia!

We're halfway through the second now, and MOntreal show no signs of stopping! Mason Hudson collects the puck at the hashmarks and lets a wrist shot fly, and that's batted away by Crawfling. But it falls to Brogen, who tries to slide it five-hole....BIG SAVE FROM CRAWFLING!! The puck is still loose though......Brogen swings at it.....IT IS IN THE NET! 4-1 MILITIA!

And that, folks, is how the Montreal Militia moved on the the semi-finals. A 4-1 win over the Colorado Raptors

Task #1 -Pick a player from an eliminated team and slot them into an existing playoff lineup. Who do they replace, why, how do their playoff stats look?
Must include: 150 words.

The Colorado Raptors cruelly lacked offense in these , putting up only six goals against Montreal's 14. It's no surprise then that the Militia swept the series. There is, however, a man who could have turned this series around, had he been with the Raptors: LeShaun @King . One of the top-rated prospects for the next SHL draft, King is a natural sniper who could have helped a great deal. He is also a natural center, something the Raptors were obviously in dire need of, he would have been pivoting the first line without a doubt. Over the course of these four games, one can assume he'd have at least three goals and an assist, but his scoring and excellent defensive play might have propulsed the Raptors towards a better playoff run, maybe even one where they beat Montreal and King gathers at least 7 goals and 4 assists over this series and the next.

Task #2 - Make a top 5 list for the finals. Top 5 goals, top 5 players, top 5 noteworthy people in the audience for one of the games, whatever you want. No word count, but if you just list 5 names, you won't get the full 2 tpe. Be a little creative.

Top 5 songs to pump you up before a playoff game:

5- Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin

If the God of Thunder uses it to get pumped up, you probably should too.

Apparently there is a 4 video limit by post so you'll have to look it up yourself (if you're ignorant enough to not already know it)

4- Till I Collapse - Eminem

The hard beat and inspirational lyrics combined with Eminem's pure emotion will put anyone's mind in invincible mode.

3- The Pretender - Foo Fighters

Despite its slow start (or maybe because of it), Dave Grohl's band's song is a very good reminder that you must never surrender, no matter where you started from.

2- Down with the Sickness - Disturbed

The guttural screams of the intro are all it takes to bring anyone into overdrive, ready to crush the opponent.

1- T.N.T. - AC/DC

Can anyone resist these "Oi"s? The good answer is no. Going into a game, you want to be the TriNitroToluene.

R = Reporter
PLD = Pierre Laroche-Durocher

R: Now that the playoffs are over, and so the whole season with it, what can you say about your team's season, and the fact that you missed the playoffs?

PLD :  We had very good hopes all season long, and we were keeping ourselves in a good position to get into the spring tournament all season long, but sometimes things just don't turn the way you expect them to do. We're disappointed in how the season ended so abruptly for us of course, but there's no changing it now, all we can do is give our 110% all summer to do better next year.

R: Do you think the Raiders would have gone far in the playoffs, had you managed to hold on to your spot?

PLD : I like to think we would have, but the fact that we missed them is kind of refuting the idea. We had a very good group of players, but sometimes it's just not enough in a league where every team can compete. I still think that until the semi-finals, it all could have gone either way between the six teams that didn't make the finals, but those two were on another level and no matter how much I want to believe anything is possible, getting past either of them would have been a very impressive feat for anyone.

Task #4 - Write 200 words or make a graphic highlighting any goalie matchup of the series.
Written must include 3 stats, either from playoffs or the regular season.
Graphic must include both goalie renders and both team logos.

We take a look at the goalie matchup from the very first game of the playoffs: the first game of the Montreal Militia/Colorado Raptors series, respectively sixth and third seeds going into the playoffs. In net, we see Petr Vrana for Quebec's metropolis. His opponent for the dinosaurs was Scottey Crawfling. Both had good regular season stats, Crawfling finishing third league-wide for SV% with a .893. Vrana wasn't far behind in fifht place, recording a .890 over the season. In the wins' department, they both occupied the same positions, as Crawfling went 18 for 45 and Vrana 17 for 41.

Neither were spared in this playoff start, as they faced a combined 100 shots, 52 for Crawfling and 48 for Vrana. Yet neither was pulled; they both showed very impressive athletic capacities as the game was going to overtime, and both managed to get out of this game with a higher SV% than their regular season totals. Crawfling made 47 saves for a .904, which was impressive, but sadly for him it wasn't enough as Vrana made 44 saves for a .917 and won the game. He would keep this on for the rest of the series, shuting down Colorado once and allowing only one goal for the other two games.

Task #5 - Write a goals highlight play by play for one series winning game OR make an infographic featuring stats from a series winning game.
Requirements: At least 200 words for written / at least 4 stats featured in at least 2 different ways for graphics (bar graphs, pie graphs, list of names, etc)

To be continued

Task #1:
If I had to choose a player from an eliminated team and replace them with someone on the team I would take Tig Murphy and Replace Geoff Moore. The reason that I chose Tig Murphy over Geoff Moore instead of another defense man is because of the role that they each play on their teams. I feel that if you take someone other than the person who plays the same role Tig does from Vancouver it would offset the teams skill level and more than likely make the team worse. I think that both Murphy and Moore both play the role of 2 way defense man that are proficient at both ends of the ice. I think that Murphy's stats are slightly better than Moore's because he scores more points and can still play decently about as well that Moore does in the defensive end as well.
Overall, I think that Tig Murphy plays a similar role for the Falcons that Geoff Moore does for the Whalers, but plays his game a little bit better.

Task #2:
Top 5 Fails of the Playoffs:

#5: Alex Winters wants to try and throw hands, but he has never before and ended up falling without even throwing a punch.

#4: Jake Reid getting so antsy that he actually hits his own teammate.

#3: Troy McClure III being so upset with a penalty that he forgets how doors work.

#2: Gvidas Kazlauskas' horrible mistake on a breakaway chance.

#1: Sulak O'Hara Goes too hard in for a hit and ends up in the bench.

Task #3:
So Andrew, the Raptors ended up finishing third in the standings this season, thoughts?
Coming into the season we had such low expectations for how this season would play out that we actually traded two of our top players, Cash Savage and Kevin Maddox. It turns out that as a team we continued to grow as the season progressed. If you look we started off this season super low in the standings, so low that we weren't even in a playoff spot. It just ended up that we kept the hard work going and it paid off in the end.

How about where you guys ended up in the post-season?
Like I said before, we had super low expectations for the way this season played out, that once we got eliminated we weren't really mad we were more seeing it as just bonus games played because we did so well in the regular season. You obviously don't like it when your team gets swept in the first round, but Montreal just played better than us and there really isn't much else to say about it.

How do you expect the Raptor's next season to play out?
Well, a lot of our roster spots were taken up by rookies this season, so you can obviously expect those players to be better than they were this season. The only thing that I can see as our clear weakness is our lack of depth in the center position, but that didn't really limit our season this year and it shouldn't limit it next year either.

Task 1

It’s a shame that Leshaun King did not get to test his might in the playoffs this season. He would have been a major asset to any team, but Vancouver in particular. Swap out him with the likes of a Luke Thomason and you have a completely different third line. Of course I highly doubt that King would be on the third line in that scenario. He put up very impressive numbers for a rookie during the regular season and that pattern would have continued in the finals. Would it have been enough to put Vancouver over the edge? I think so, given the fact that they won two games in the series. Sadly, King watched the playoffs from his couch but the future looks bright. Thomas put up a paltry three points with a goal and two assists. King would have at least doubled that in the series with Montreal alone. I could have seen him racking up three or four goals and possibly five or six assists had he been with the Whalers. Pure speculation at this point but it could have happened.

Task 2

Five Famous Actors Spotted During the Four Star Cup Finals

1. CM Punk – After his admirable attempt at MMA came up short, and since he has no desire to wrestle again, he has entertained the idea of joining the Juniors. He may be 39 but he said he feels like his is 30 given his straight edge lifestyle.
2. Tommy Wiseau – He is in the process of writing a sequel to room where Johnny joins the Falcons. He will be retconning the original ending where he killed himself. Rumor has it that Johnny will be playing for the Armada in the movie.
3. James Franco – He is studying Wiseau to prepare for his next role, a sequel to the Disaster Artist.
4. Kevin Smith – He is in town filming a movie called “Meta” which is about a comic book artists who is working on a new story about a hockey player who gets kidnapped but a guy obsessed with walrus’ so he turns the hockey player into a walrus. The walrus gets kidnapped by an old lady in a trailer and they end up in a church where the feds come and have a huge shootout against the church.
5. Katy Perry – She was there to support then-boyfriend Peter Vrana with the Militia but unfortunately they did not make the finals.

Task 3

Vrana Reflects on Round Two Exit

Rusty Ricketts – Alright I’m here with Miltia Goalie Petr Vrana. Petr, how are you feeling after being eliminated by the Knights.
Petr Vrana – Sad.
RR – Is there anything you would have done differently?
PV – Stop more pucks.
RR – I agree. So who are you rooting for in the finals?
PV – I don’t care.
RR – You want Kelowna to three-peat or Vancouver to knock them off?
PV – I’m hungry. Can I go now?
RR – Just a few more questions. Let’s do a little word association.
PV – No.
RR – Alright then. If you were in a band what would they be called?
PV – Smegma Punch.
RR – Would that be a metal band?
PV – No. Wizard of Oz songs.
RR – You’re not very talkative are you?
PV – No.
RR – So where do you want to go in the upcoming draft?
PV – Mogadishu.
RR – Well there you have it ladies and gentleman. A distraught Vrana after a humiliating defeat to the Whalers.

Task 4

Robinson or Vrana?

There was some criticism over Montreal’s decision to go with Petr Vrana over Cedric Robinson in the Season 42 Junior Draft. His management team has some character issues that are known to many. Robinson was an unknown but seemed like a safer pick. Both goalies had ups and downs during the regular season. They showed both flashes of brilliance but also had some horrible games. Vrana had one stretch where it seemed like he was pulled every other game. So both made the playoffs and both did about as well as expected. Vrana managed to help shut down an underperforming Colorado squad in the first round. He came up big in a few games. Unfortunately Vancouver made him look like a rookie. Anchorage also made short work of Robinson and the Falcons. Robinson was unable to rack up a single win compared to Vrana’s five. Granted it was hardly all Vrana as he had an excellent lineup helping him out.

Robinson did let in a staggering average of 4.48 goals a game compared to Vrana’s 2.59. Anchorage really lit Robinson up but if you let in an average of over four goals a game, your team just can’t keep up with that. That’s just hockey.
Wins and goals allowed do not tell the whole story though. Their save percentage was comparable even though Vrana had a larger sample in larger games. Vrana’s save percentage was .891 to Robinson’s .846. While neither numbers are spectacular, they are not too far off.

The jury is still out on both of these kids and one playoff run will not define their careers. Either one could end up flourishing or floundering. Or both could end up being great. Time will tell.

Task 5

Colorado vs. Montreal – Game 4
Colorado have not been able to get anything going this series. We are just over halfway through the second period in Game 4 and it has been all Montreal for the most part. That triple overtime loss in Game 1 seems to have destroyed any confidence that the Raptors had coming into this series. They have been playing flat hockey ever since. Militia lead 3-1 and another goal will really seal the deal here. Crawfling can’t catch a break here as the Raptors can’t get it out of their zone. Kazarian wins the faceoff. Hudson shoots! Stopped by Crawfling but it bounces out. Brogen picks up the rebound and it’s in! That’s 4-1 for the Militia now. And that’s it. Crawfling is being pulled in favor of Brando Sanda. They have lost confidence in the net-minder. Sando may be able to stop the onslaught but Colorado have far too deep of a hole to dig out of. Montreal are celebrating on the bench congratulating Brogen after that excellent rebound.

Later in the third.

Vrana is in his zone right now straight up denying anything the Raptors throw his way, which isn’t much. Less than a minute now but Montreal will move on to face Vancouver.

Buzzer sounds.

And that’s it! The sixth seed moves on once again. Congratulations to the Militia on an amazing shutout of this series. The Raptors have a lot to reevaluate this season.
