Hippo Passamus grew up on his parents farm in Sweden, working on the farm is the foundation to his physique. He can't even remember when he started helping out on the farm, he always worked. If it was milking the cows, castrating the pigs or shuffling shit didn't matter, Hippo loved to help out. As he grew older he got more intensive tasks was upon him. Getting the bulls into the pens, wrestling with ostriches and boxing with the kangaroo's. He might not show it on the ice but he's got a vicious right hook.
The family also owned a fair bit of land with forest, maintaining and planting new trees. Eventually Hippo didn't need any advanced machines, punching the trees fell them, then he carried them back and threw them in the river where they would float down to the rest of his family which would scoop them up. When he traveled over to america it's said that Hippo lost over 95% of his muscle mass

Before the fame, Luke Thomason had a short lived career as a rapper. if you were wondering, he went by 2 names. The first one was lil thimble was his more fun rapper name, making some great hits like "Frito's on my ding dong" and "Trash can bucket truck". One cant forget his #1 single on the underground hip hop in Czech Republic "Blaaak Blaak on my AK". The more serious rapper I had, I went by Wisdom Mumbles. I had some hits in the Czech Republic like "Czech Yourself", "Czechia the bestia", "Whisper Tracks", "XXXFreestyleXXX", and "Canadian Dream". Luke went to tour a little bit during the hockey offseason, touring in little pubs and clubs along the country side. I met with an American Rapper Named LIl Peepee and we did some tracks together, and dropped a mixtape before I entered the SMJHL. After that my agent told me I should stop putting raps out and focus on Hockey, so I did.

Patrice Nadeau at the age of 16 worked part-time at a poutine shop in Quebec City where he grew up. I don't think he was a really good employee as he would turn everything into a game of hockey, and I mean everything. The cheese curds were often used as hockey pucks while the fries were used as the hockey sticks. This little thing would turn big during the night shift as he would freeze the gravy in a tray, freeze some fries to give them rigidity and then once frozen he would have made a small gravy rink for his new so called hobby. Eventually he would set up gravy hockey tournaments among his co-workers which was source of fun during the shops downtime. Nadeau got fired however once his manager caught on to how much product he was wasting to run this little league , and also it may have to do with the fact that paychecks started getting bet on with each game. Once he was let go Nadeau gave his all to the real game of hockey and it helped him develop his game to where it is today, all thanks to a poutine shop out in Quebec City.

Long before Alex Winters was a star SHL player, he worked at a print shop back home in Pardubice. He learned all the tricks of the trade: how to set type, how to type, basic computer processing skills, and even tried his hand at photoshop to make cards of his own SHL heroes. What Alex definitely doesn’t miss is the customers. The needy people that act like you shot their dog because you won’t and can’t print 5000 booklets in 2 hours or the people that bring in a black and white photo and want to know why you won’t print it in color. Especially those last folks. Alex was grateful that he got to come to the US for high school before making the jump to the SMJHL, and although he may have hated his time at the print shop while there, he’s grateful for some of the skills he picked up and his coworkers that he met while there.

Long before he was clapping bombs and having intimate relations with moms Bobby was a gas station clerk during his high school years. He did an absolutely pretty mediocre job. He didn't really care about some local kids stealing candy bars day in and day out. He didn't really care enough to clean the bathroom "because dang that's pretty gross are you kidding me I ain't touching that toilet. Someone else can do that". He often gave gas to his friends and teammates in exchange for favors and illegal substances.

All in all, Bobby is probably not a great role model. Wait, why are we even doing this? This isn't the example we want to set for our future youth! Let's just say Bobby was a great student, volunteered at every single local animal shelter and never ever ever partook in a single illegal substance. Yeah, let's roll with that.

Before Knute Knurtsson became a professional hockey player he was living i sweden with his family. When Knute was young he used to work with his granddad as a gardener. Knutes grandfather had started his own business when knute was little and whane he came of appropriate age he started working for him. He was up early in the morning, 04:00, getting all the stuff assembled for the day, his grandfather had a contract to take care of a multiple buildings owned by the government including some of the Kings castles. Knute worked hard in the morning and then went to school, and the back to work again until the evening. What Knute learned from this was that hard work paid off. His grandfather now has people working for him and Knute is a Co-owner of the company. With the money he earns from hovkey he has bern able to make investments to expand the business to one of the largest gardening companies in Sweden.

Before being drafted into the SMJHL, Kristaps Ball was a cashier at the local grocery store in Latvia. He worked there solely to get money to help him at hockey. He had a simple job, put the food in the bag and get the money from the customers. He worked lots of hours, but only cause he needed the money. When he wasn't working, he was on the ice practicing and getting ready for his draft year, hoping to up his draft stock. Kristaps hated his job, his co-workers were rude to the young Latvian, and it was an incredibly boring job for a guy that just wanted to play hockey. Kristaps would get so bored during his shifts, he would start practicing some hockey with some bags of food, practicing his puck handling and all that. At the end of the day, the job worked out for Kristaps in the end, as he got drafted into the SMJHL. On his last day, he walked, said he was quiting, and walked out with both middle fingers flung into the air.

Most of you probably know this, but before becoming a hockey player, Nathan Explosion was the singer and frontman of Dethklok, the world's most brutal metal band. Explosion didn't know what hockey was 2 years ago but he knew one thing from all the money he made playing metal and shows given in places all over the world, he knew how to make hockey brutal again. Barely any star player ine the SHL was a hip check machine or hit god, so Explosion tought he could claim that title. He now figured out the refs are always putting him in the box for using his brutal isntincts which is kind of a problem for the team but hey, things might change in the future once fans realise they need more violence in their hockey.

THe other job he had before that was being a sushi cook in a small franchise in Chicoutimi. This is where he learned what teamwork was and to this day is the best skill he tranfered from a regular job to being a godly athlete.

Boris started his playing days in Ukraine at the age of 12. due to the economy they could not afford a lot of protective hockey equipment, so how was a kid able to afford to buy hockey gear? Luckily there was such an abundance of Kielbasa, the local celo (yes that's a Ukrainian word) had butchers who were always looking for kids to help skin the animals and prepare the cuts of meat. Due to the poor working conditions, adults would never subject themselves to the environment, but kids on the other hand didn't know any better. Boris worked for two years at the butcher shop before being able to afford actual hockey equipment. "Marko's Meat" is what the store's name was in English and to this day every off season Boris pays a visit to Marko as a sign of gratitude, for without him hiring illegal children he would not be in the SHL today.

That is also how the nick name "the beast" caught on, as Boris would still work at the shop while he was playing and would sometimes come to the games with animal blood all over him

Before Jon was a full-time hockey player, he spent one summer working on a farm back home in Ireland. This was mostly just a produce farm, growing the likes of wheat, barley, corn, strawberries, etc. There were no livestock around, except for when the owner was holding them for somebody else. Jon knew it was not something he wanted to do all his life, as the early mornings and long days were tough, but there were things he enjoyed about it as well. He learned to drive different machinery, like tractors and loaders. Learned the ins and outs of farm life and the hard work that goes into putting food on to people's tables. It gave him a massive respect for the work that it takes. One particular moment he remembers from his time on the farm was just a week or so after he started. He was driving around the farm with his boss when he saw what he though was corn. He was confused though, as it was only July and the corn should not have been that tall yet. "Wow, the corn grew a lot real fast" Jon said, and his boss responded, "That's barley son", and began laughing. JT knew it was something he wouldn't live down the rest of his time working there.

Before being a blue line stud in Winnipeg, Slip McScruff was a blue line stud in St. Louis.

Long before he was a blue line stud in St. Louis, he was that tanned stud at the water park, policing the lines to go down the blue line slide. He learned the true grit needed to wrangle little shits who ran away from their parents at the park. That same grit that's needed to wrangle speedy forwards who think they can get at his goaltender with their childish dekes.

Old habits die hard, which is why Slip can be found at the ski slopes near Winnipeg on his off days. In his free time he volunteers as a snow tubing officiant, wrangling little shits who ran away from their parents at the bunny slopes. The tubes make them a lot easier to catch, but the snow is definitely an added challenge. When life takes away the water park, you take what you can get.

Before Banananak made it to the big time, first with Lethbridge, he used to work in his fathers farm in the Czech Republic. At first it was just collecting and washing the bananas but once he was old enough to reach the heavy machinery his dad basically used him as free labor to properly harvest the bananas. He worked long hours before making it big as a hockey player and because of the amount of work he had to do his arms got big and strong to where he could shoot bullets on a regular basis. He was so strong in the arms that some people wondered if he was taking steroids. Was he? Of course not. But that is what made him the player he is today and he intends on going right back to the farm once his career reaches his end, whenever that is. Either way, he hopes that he can use the salary he makes from his pro career to help the farm out, since it has fallen on bad times with him leaving.

Looking back at Zadina's past he has worked his fair share of jobs outside of playing hockey. Of course as a young kid there is only so many jobs you can do in your teens. Of course he found his way through being a busser and a server for restaurants, which was actually very rewarding. When you work within the service industry the main lesson you learn is how to treat people with respect. It is something that I have heard Zadina recommend to everyone he knows, and suggests taken a job within the service industry just so you can have a sense of what that really can teach you about being kind to others. It gives you a chance to see people from all walks of life and how they handle situations and treat their peers. Zadina also found this same kind of lesson during his time working for his local amusement park. Of course he had plenty of time to goof of as he was dressed as Duke the Dragon but it gave him the chance to see how something so small could really cheer up a child and his or her family. It was the little tasks everyday that you did that would make or break someones day, and you truly had a lot more control over someone else's happiness while just serving them within your job.
