It's a hobby at the end of the day not a job with deadlines all the time. Draftees were signed and like just not posted, they were going to be posted but my phone died awhile I was hunting.

Like generally I think that rule is one of the worst rules to be made for a very specific reason that doesn't happen often. Also think this is just a silly punishment for the rule. Sizz is a big part of Tampa Bay, losing a 1500 tpe forward and a 2nd round pick is such a steep punishment and it's a for fun league at end of the day. Especially when you have a contract agreed to in dms or Minny had their player on their budget. Like at the end of the day we are human and we make mistakes and as long as their was malicious intent these punishments should be appealed and waived completely.
I agree with what you just said

I'm slow. Why is the ban on the player signing with the team (no Carnage on TBB in S82) included in the punishment? "Because it's the rule" no I'm asking why is that the rule at all. Couldn't the rest of the punishment be sufficient in this kind of case? Therefore punishing the GM that made the error but not taking agency away from the player on where to play.

The way I understand it is that it's acting as further deterrence for the GMs to disincentivize malicious hiding of FAs. Things like fines are shown to be ineffective given the gain for the infraction, picks lost punish the entire team, so this was viewed as the only option of sorts

This is the punishment we decided on when we instituted the rule; like I've said a couple other places in this thread, we are absolutely open to changing it if anyone can come up with a solution that doesn't screw the entire team instead of just one player, and is scalable for multiple offenses.
