- Loco - 06-10-2017 Q's from my boy WinGretzky 1- now that you are a part of the raiders, what are your thoughts about living in a city much farther north than your hometown? It's cold and its still summer, mang. I heard stories of the Mexkmos that come up here, but I'm not sure how they do it. Hopefully my thick blooded teammates will help me adjust. Love the city tho. 2- S36 was a pretty deep draft class and Halifax had many picks this year. It seems like yourself and the other rookies are going to be a big part of this team moving forward. Are you at all worried about the current state of the raiders? Nah I'm not worried at all. We're all here to improve ourselves and the team, and we are planning to not have a repeat of last year. I think we'll take a few teams by surprise, that's for sure. 3- It's no secret that the media is onto your antics ever since the prospect showcase and you generate quite the interesting stories to say the least. Can we expect more shenanigans or will we be seeing a different person now that you have a team and GM to impress? u could say that i will shenan again I'm planning on being whoever the team needs me to be. - Clint Eastwood - 06-10-2017 Questions asked by STZ 1) What are your thoughts on where you were drafted in the SMJHL? The Kelowna Knights were the team I wanted to be drafted to the most. I signed with them after the trade deadline and they were more than I could ask for. I was ecstatic to be drafted here. Fuck the Whalers. 2) Where in the draft do you foresee yourself going in the SHL? Will you go up or down the prospect ranks? That is a very good question. To be honest, it's wherever the need for defensemen is. If it isn't much of a need then I'd go down. Either way, I went 4th overall and to ask to go higher than that is quite the task, so we'll have to wait and see. 3) What are the type of players that compliment your play style? Who should your coach be looking to stick beside you? I've played with all types of players along my side. Whether if they were an offensive force of destruction, or if they were goons. To be honest, I play great with defensive defensemen. Doesn't mean they are physical, but I like to play with defensive first minded defensemen. However when the season starts, I'm sure I'll be able to hold my own with anyone. - STZ - 06-10-2017 Questions asked by Clint Eastwood 1) How do you feel about being drafted to the Kelowna Knights? Did the GMs give you any hints that you'd go to the Knights? I was very excited. The Knights have been a team I have admired during my previous tenures, but I never got a chance to play for them. They always seemed super active, and I think it is in large part due to their alumni being great, and actually supporting the junior team. After the Interested Prospects point task, I came out of it with the Knights as one of my top preferred destination, just because the way their questions were asked and the post was presented really clicked with me. I had great conversations with Detroit, Colorado, and Prince George. In all honesty, I felt one of them would have taken a chance on me in the first round, but I was actually passed up at least once by every team. It's given me motivation to make them all regret that decision. 2) How would you compare yourself to the rest of the S36 players? Certainly not at 12th overall. I understand in a draft there are positional needs and strategic drafting, but there are a few players drafted before me that have no business there. That may sound cocky, but that's how I feel. I think I compare favourably in this draft class, which is very deep and very strong. I don't miss TPE opportunities, I'm an active voice in the LR, and I have other advantages as a teammate. I have a wealth of experience with this sim, and I think people misread my build before the draft. A lot of scouting reports dubbed Church as a defensive player, because my defense is high. That is a very popular misconception people have with the sim. I'm okay with where I was drafted, as it takes the pressure off of myself. But I think there will be a few GM's that will re-think their picks where they overlooked me. 3) You are a Kelowna Knight, so this question must be asked, do you like waffles? Love waffles. Who the hell doesn't? - Mook - 06-10-2017 Asked by Waters Quote:Did you get picked higher than you thought you would? When I declared for the draft, I noticed the amount of talent already present awaiting the draft, I had hopes on going in the first round, but accepted it may not happen. It doesnt really matter when you go, you are getting drafted basically no matter what. Still, going top 3 is a pretty big accomplishment and I hope it carries over to the SHL draft Quote:How long do you think it will take you to become a top line SHL player? It depends on which team I'm drafted to, some teams have insane depth and will take a couple seasons to climb the ranks. I'd like to say by S39 I'll be filling a top pairing spot for a team. Quote:Do you think Casey will be as good as his father? Oh god I hope he is better than Tommy. While Tommy put up good numbers, he was never really any better than an all star second liner. He finally put up a PPG season at the end of hos career. Casey has a ton of potential to be one of the best defencemen in the league, and I hope he delivers. - Waters - 06-10-2017 asked by my dog Mook Are you surprised at where you were picked in the draft? Somewhat. Honestly, I always knew there was a chance that I would go late with just the sheer amount of quality prospects, whether it be newgens or recreates. I didn't think there was a chance I would go lower than the second round though, but in the end, it's fine, draft position means nothing in the J. What are your goals for this season in the SMJHL? I'm going to be playing solid minutes so I hope that, in terms of stats, I will end up with around 30 points 18 or so goals, and I will be near capped by the draft. My main concern is that I might run out of money cause honestly I cannot be fucked to write an article right now. I try, I get like 200 words in and i just give up. What is your go-to goal celebration? stick between the legs is a classic. - CampinKiller - 06-11-2017 Questions asked by corynv 1. How have you been settling in with your new team? Pretty well. I had an opportunity to meet the other guys I may not have had time to talk to before we got drafted at training camp, and I've been able to talk to the older guys in the room as well, and even heard from a couple alumni in the SHL. 2. What do you think is your biggest weakness? I would say passing. While I can make passes, I sometimes can be just off the mark in sending them, and, I'll admit, I make the occasional idiotic pass, but it's something I've been becoming more aware of. 3. What were you up to between the prospects tournament and the draft? Training, relaxing, and enjoying some Alabama beaches. I also got together with some old friends and played some pickup with my former USHL team - easymoneysniper - 06-11-2017 1) Who do you consider to be your biggest rival in the SMJHL this season? I don't have a rival yet, but I know this upcoming season in the SMJHL is going to be interesting. Going to make lots of friends and going to make lots of enemies as well but it's all love in the end because it's hockey. I'm excited for the season and if any trash talking comes I'll be up for the challenge. 2) Who would win in a fight: a Whale, a Firebird, or a Mammoth? That's really hard, I don't have a lot of information in these animals but I don't think Firebirds are real but they would die anyway if they went inside the water?? I would go with a Whale. 3) If your skater played any other sport, what would it be? He would be playing basketball, I used to play back in the days but hockey was the way to go because I was super talented in that sport but I always had a passion for basketball which I would love to play. Asked Whikadoodle 1) How do you this first season is going to pan out for you? I think that I'm going to lead defenseman in goals. I am fully aware that this is the juniors league for the most competitive league in the world. I'm highly confident in my abilities on the ice; my ability to push the play and catch opposing defensemen and centers off guard. In Vancouver, we have a strong enough defensive corps and an outstanding goalie for me to be able to play my game; to join on the rush and give opposing players one more thing to worry about. I'm guaranteeing a 4 Star Finals appearance for my Vancouver Whalers, and I think we have a real chance to win it all. 2) What are your expectations? My expectations are going to be going in the first round of the SHL draft. I was disappointed that I fell to 13, especially with the pedigree of my mentor, Niklas Wikstrom. I feel that the new generation of players don't respect the path that was blazed by players like Erik Chisling, Carter O'Callahan, and Niklas Wikstrom. Players who all brought the first ever cups to their franchises. Players who defined what it means to succeed at the SHL level. When everyone is trying to be a sniper, diverse builds provide the foundation for teams to go far. I believe I am that kind of player, and I expect to be rewarded for my efforts. 3) Do you think you're the best player of this draft? I think I am one of the best players ever to lace up. However, I know how deep this draft truly goes. My teammate, Isak Odegard, deserved to go first overall. His ability on the ice is unprecedented, and through my talks with his mentor, Nathan Russell, I can see that Odegard holds many of the same traits that Russell did during the original New England Cup Run, and through the dynasty that arose around Season 30. I am also looking forward to what Tigole Bitties can do on the ice. That type of center doesn't come around very often, and I think he has a real opportunity to make it to the hall of fame. Do I think I'm one of the best players ever? Yes. Do I think I am the best player in this draft right now? We'll see. - soulja - 06-12-2017 Questions asked by Kris (Francesco Belluci) 1.How well do you think you will fit in the Raiders system as a rookie? The Raiders are a great organization and I fit in their perfectly. Sure the organization is brand new but even then, as a recreate I still believe it has the same feeling as when I was a former panther. The team is very welcoming and not to say it is run by a fellow panther himself. The organization was initially run by Bottas whom I know well as a s20 player and as a former teammate. There is also 44 who was the one to see my potential back when I was a rookie in Impact. The team is primarily full of rookies this season and this gives us rookies ample playing time. In fact, I will be playing 1st line C in the team and this is the only team where you would get that chance. I am honoured they trusted me with that position. So far, Raiders seem to be an excellent organization and I am glad I was drafted there. 2. With which teammates have you built the strongest bond so far and why? If we are strictly referring to teammates, then the player I have developed the greatest bond with is Cody Fletcher. This dude is not only a great player but he is a great person as well. Very helpful in that he is willing to go out of his way to help others. Just look at my sig for example, he made that kick ass sig and provided me with the code so all I needed to do was just copy and paste. We also talk quite a lot in discord so I have become very familiar with EVOK (Cody Fletcher). Another interesting fact is that he is also my line-mate on the first line, so look for us to have some strong chemistry in the sim as well. I have also spoken with Lukas Muller, the 2nd OA pick. He is a cool guy too. Can’t wait to play some hockey with them. 3. Does the fact of your father being a legendary SHL player put any pressure on you and why? I don’t know if my father Yuri Boyka would be referred to as a legendary player but he indeed was a great player. He is my role model and has always been there for me. Him being great does in fact put pressure on me but it is the type of pressure you need in order to grow as a hockey player. My dad said that during his time he made a few mistakes and it took him a while before he learned the right path. He has fostered great care into teaching me various tips on how to improve my game. Currently, I lack the two way ability but it is something I am continuously working on. My player is a offensive forward so it is not something I put too much attention to but a decent defensive capability would indeed be very helpful. My dad also said that I have greater raw talent than him so it is a matter of putting in a lot of effort to be the best hockey player I can be. There is no doubt I believe that I will surpass my dad and this is my time to shine. Questions asked by soulja (Yuri Boyka Jr) 1. How did you discover the game of hockey? Give a brief background. Francesco:Oh, back in my hometown of Milan and in the whole country of Italy, hockey really isn't the most popular sport, yet I think if there's one city in Italy where it's really possible to start a promising hockey career, it's Milan. Being in the northern side of the country where there are mountains and the weather is colder and having a team that has won multiple national championships in hockey helps. Once there was a big advertisement in the city that offered cheaper tickets to the finals series, and with me being a kid that wants to see something new, something with action, my parents took me to one game, then to another, and I was hooked. After then, the story just continues with me starting out with a youth team and having difficulties, with moving to Latvia.. but that's for another time. 2. What kind of player do you want to build? What are your short term and long term goals with him? Kris:I’ve always been a guy who likes to create players who do the “dirty job†or just players who are very valuable yet probably seen less on the ice. With Francesco I am going to try and get a bit more spotlight by creating a playmaker winger who is going to be crafty, pass-first, agile player with also being able to shoot the puck when needed. I want Fran to be the chef of the team, dishing out assists left and right. For, let's say, the SMJHL, I just want to have fun, try to earn as much TPE as I can, and possibly get a championship! 3. What do you do outside hockey? Hobbies and etc Francesco:I love travelling, and since I have just arrived in my new home - Detroit, I am going to explore the surrounding area whenever I can. Also, I love cooking. When I had to live in Latvia all by myself, I just had to know how to make food, and I can tell you, I make the best pasta around here. That's a reason for a team meet up at my new place, if being honest. If talking about sports, obviously, it's football. Not that handegg game you got here in the United States, the real football. As an Italian it just is in me. When I can't play hockey, I play football. Simple as that. - WinGretzky - 06-12-2017 Quote:Originally posted by Loco@Jun 10 2017, 12:53 PM Asked by Loco, answered by me: You went third overall in the third round, is this around where you expected to go? I'm happy and proud that I was selected to be a part of the Raiders in the third round. Prior to the draft, it was really hard to get a good feel for where you would be drafted. It would have been a great feeling to have been taken in the first round, but at the end of the day, all it would be for would be bragging rights and its just a number. I'm more focused on what I need to do next to become the best player possible. How did you feel after you got drafted - was there a sense of relief or was it just another workday for you? I wouldn't say there was a sense of relief because I was fairly confident that I was going to be drafted this year. I am definitely excited to be a part of the Raiders as it was my top destination as to where I wanted to go. It looks like we have many rookies on this team, so its going to be a lot of fun and a big challenge to see what we can do with this roster. Do you have anything to say to the Raider Nation? LETS FACKIN GO BOIS!!! Hahaha lets get our nose the grind, start working as a team, and see what we can do boys! - Theo667 - 06-12-2017 Conversation between Evok (Cody Fletcher) and myself (Ted Glass) CF: Ted, how did your love for hockey developped ? TG: My love for hockey came from my dad, who raised me down the street from our local rink. He would take me skating every weekend, and when I was old enough, taught me how to pass and shoot. CF: That's quite an interesting story, and i must admit, it paid off as you were drafted by a SMJHL team ! By who were you drafted and are you happy with the result and your draft position? TG: I was drafted at #33 overall, by the Halifax Raiders! Frankly, I was told by a few teams to expect to be taken in the middle of the draft, so my position wasn't much of a surprise. Of the teams that showed interest in me, Halifax was the team that I was most excited about. The prospect of playing a part in a rebuild was enticing, and I can't wait to get started! CF: We are sure glad to know you are playing with a team you were interested in, we wish you good luck with the team in the future ! What are you looking to improve from now on? How will you help your team ? TG: My biggest strengths are in passing and endurance, so my team will be able to rely on me in all kinds of situations to be defensively and offensively responsible. I'm looking to improve my physical game and refine my defensive skills. I strive to provide solid leadership on the back end as I develop. -- TG: Cody, who is your biggest hockey inspiration? CF: I would say my inspiration was Ovechkin when growing up, he's the one who inspired me to play a sniper style on the left wing. TG: Ovechkin is a player who has been known to be extremely proud of his Russian hockey heritage. Do you draw on your own heritage similarly, or do you distance yourself from it? CF: Oh, i am really proud of Canada's Hockey history as well. Especially in the recent years with two on two Olympic medals. I wish to be able to play for team Canada in a soon future and help them win it all. TG: What would you say your biggest contribution to your team is, in the locker room or on the ice? CF: On the ice, I think it will be the fact I am pretty strong on both side of the rink while being a threat to the other team. In the locker room, I think my selflessness and my caring qualities will be a big plus to the team. The morale of the team is pretty important to be able to win so I like to cheer people up ! TG: All right! Thank you for your time! - Clint Eastwood - 06-12-2017 Questions asked by Tylar: How does a 87 year old director manage to be that old and still start his hockey career. Are you excited for this new journey in life? Yes I am. I've always been a hockedy dude. In fact some of my good movie pals watch the NBA, and I scold them for watching such a woeful sport. Will your age hold you back? I'm Clint motherfucking Eastwood. Of course not Which film are you most proud of either acting or directing? Dirty Harry. I mean: Do you feel lucky . . . punk? - Tylar - 06-12-2017 Questions Asked by Clint Eastwood ![]() I am pretty familiar with Kelowna, since my agent has had many players go through there and go on to having successful SHL careers. In general it seems like they have a solid core on veterans and rookies to make a push this year. I think besides myself, they had a pretty good draft too. It is exciting to go to a team that has a chance to win it all. ![]() I would compare myself to Hampus Lindholm. I have bright hockey IQ to think and see the game at both ends of the ice. Like Hampus, I may not put up super offensive numbers at first, but I will eventually when I hit my stride in the league, He is so positionally sound and calm, I believe I am an exact clone of him. I will not make too many mistakes, and if I do my positioning will help me recover. I am also a effortless skater, which will always helps. ![]() I was pretty happy, But I mean i thought I would have gone before 20th overall though, If I am being honest. I do not think of it as a slap in the face but, I do not think I should have fell that far. I guess it will motivate me to become even better and want to prove that I am the best player of this draft class. Hopefully I can prove that, and go higher in the SHL draft. - Pope [Leo] - 06-12-2017 After being drafted, and after winning the Prospect Showcase together, Joakim Lindqvist and Finn Jakobsen sit down and chat: FJ: So Joakim, you were selected 10th overall. What sort of goaltender do you want to develop into? Obviously, I want to become a goalie that the whole team can rely on in net, but that's something every goalie wants to be. Above that, I want to be someone my team can rally around, that can lift the spirits in the locker room when you're in a tough situation. Be the spark when the team needs one. And lastly just someone that people can enjoy having around. 2. What's your favorite guilty pleasure? I don't really know. I have tonnes of things I love doing in my free time, but none that i can think of that I feel guilty of. How do you feel heading towards the season? I'm excited to be going into my 1st season, though I'll be the back up for it. So I won't be seeing too many games this season. Just hope that I don't fail my team while I am the one in net. I'm also really curious to see how we'll do at the end of it all. - Brye - 06-12-2017 Questions from Plastic Spoon 1) How do you feel about being drafted to the Falcons?
