I think my first player is kind of borderline so this topic is pretty interesting to me.

Bottas -

0 Cups, 2 finals appearances
1 stevens award, nominated twice
perennial all-star (one 1st team appearance, 3 2nd team selections)
356 points in 509 games
top 5 in assists 3 times (led shl once), Top 10 4 times.
top 10 in shot blocks 3 times.

you know before scoring 50 points as a defenseman was average

I've been wondering about this, because I know we have player and GM awards.

Do we have any builder awards? There are for sure some people who deserve those (Leafs and Jack to name two off the top of my head.) If it doesn't already exist maybe it's something the league should consider.

Not sure what you mean by that.

Is the Onoprienko close to what you're thinking? (Lifetime achievement, been awarded to Jack, Leafs, and Spangles so far)

Krever was entered as an owner way back when. Jack was considered as a simmer but not voted in.

Sports teams and league often have people inducted into the Hall of Fame as Builders. Basically people who have given loads to the league or team and who's efforts will make a lasting positive impact. Onorpienko is sort of that, but just to have a spot in the HOF would be nice.

He means like Jaytee who's made so many top line players gets elected to the Builder HOFs like the VHL. Rewards a single person for building so many good players.

Edit: Or maybe not. Lol

Actually looking at the HoF subforum right now. He is in as both at least from what I can see Owner and player. Owner in S22 and as a player pre S10

A more interesting player will be Niklas Stryker 531 points 28th all time.
Officially a D but I was told he played most of his career as a Forward 0 Individual Awards and records that I know of and 1 Cup.

Stryker will get in. Not sure when but he's got a strong case with his all star appearances.

Its tough. There's great players on the ballot and more coming along every season.

The committee uses a ranked voting system. Each member votes for up to 5 players and up to 5 GMs. 1st place on a ballot is worth 10points. 2nd is worth 7 points. 3rd is worth 5points. 4th is worth 3points. And 5th is worth 1point.

You need 35 points to enter the Hall

Absolutely Weber should be on this ballot and would be a great candidate. He's one of the best Dmen in history and was dominant during his prime.
Weber had his competition during his prime period too though. Makes you wonder if the long game hurts a player rather than helping them? With that being said Weber performed excellent and should be HOF easy.

HOF material is tough in a fictional league. Stats aren't always indicative of the players potential because of the changes in sim engines in the past, or you have a someone like Alex who played a portion on the offensive line while being a defensemen. The way I see it you can only hope the voters were around for that players prime to vouche for him/her, and that they're objective in their decisions.

I think that's why you have discussion and voting instead of milestone and you're automatically in. Its not a "if you reach 500 points you're automatically inducted"

A lot of the classes only have 3 maybe 4 players enter the Hall. So it all depends on who else is on the ballot.

We have some absolute legends coming up in the next 3 years. Its going to be fun watching such great players enter the Hall of Fame

Yeahthat
Considering that I am only here since S30 it would be nice to know if some players changed there names in their SHL career so I can add up their points. Also if a D played Forward in some point of his career so I can also mark that in the list.

If Garbanzo retired right now would he be a HoF player?

One Stevens, I think three first team All Star selections, two more Stevens nominations, tied for 10th among defensemen in points. Include this season and you maybe add another 1st team and Stevens nomination which is pretty decent over 11 seasons.

Only thing going against him is playoff pedigree.

Probably not just because of the lack of Cups and the competition you would face on the ballot. The people with Cups would end up getting those votes. If you got votes you would be at the bottom of the ballot and not get enough votes to get in
