My question is what would it take without cups to be a first ballot guy?

Probably not just because of the lack of Cups and the competition you would face on the ballot. The people with Cups would end up getting those votes. If you got votes you would be at the bottom of the ballot and not get enough votes to get in

Would that really be enough to kill his chances? Highest TPE player in league history and he'd fail to get in off of lack of playoff success?

Be considered the best at your position in the league during your career. Have multiple individual awards and some serious career stats/records

Depends on the class. Is he going to get votes over a guy like Jakobsen or Velevra? Or Attiokalio(sp?)

What about when guys like Clitsome and Tanner become eligible?

Its a matchup game. How do you matchup on the ballot? Can you earn votes from those that have cups and awards?

Fair enough. Was just surprised....when I saw his question I thought it was a weird one because to me it's a no-brainer that he has an easy walk into the HOF so I was surprised by the response.

He said if he retired right now. I think right now He would have a hard time getting 35 votes

So then what if I put it this way - would he get in on a later ballot?

E.g. Still retire now but gets in as a third ballot HOFer

- ArGarBarGar - 11-24-2016

Yeah I think if I keep it up and eventually become the top scorer among defensemen I will be a first ballot no question. Right now I was just curious with my current pedigree.

If you retired right now, I'd say Garbanzo would probably be a HoF player, just maybe not for a couple ballots. Like Schultzy said, you'd have some stiff competition over the next few seasons.

My biggest question to the 'dominant' player part, is if you were to take a look at the way today's game is being played. Some teams play their top line for half the game, while other teams spread the minutes out fairly evenly among two or even three lines. Those players playing half a game are near the top in stats right now. The question is, are they truly that much better, or are they taking advantage of those extra minutes?

Did an analysis if people remember, if not here's another read

I didn't notice it at the time, but you didn't include SV% in the goalie analysis. That seems odd to me.

(Otherwise, looks like I'm dead on some of the averages. I think I might get in! :ph34rSmile

Nice job Vlid, evidently morality is a human construct and subjectivity when selecting a hall of famer is a myth

I think that is splitting hairs when the amount of production that extra ice time gives a player isn't going to make them all that worse. Then compiling it over a career who is going to want to do that?
