I liked his singing. Both he and Emma Stone are pretty raw singers though, very natural. So I can see why one would say this. That said, the music is the best in forever. The songs are so good, can't stop listening to them.

Right but Emma had range....Gosling is just tone deaf.

I like the songs too, nothing that will make it on my music but was good for musical music

Top 10 scene of all time. I watch that scene weekly and cry.

Your second and third parts, whatever. That comes down to taste. However, boring is not a criticism of any film. It's lazy and is a substitute for actually figuring out why you didn't like it. Try and come up with a reason beyond "it's boring". That's just lazy and you're better than that.
It's boring because it brings nothing new to the genre. It's a cookie cutter story filled with cliches. It's a movie that takes tropes from successful movies of the past and mish mashes them together into one movie. It was boring because every time anything happened instead of thinking oh wow that's a creative story, I think oh yeah that's like what happened in this movie or that movie and the ending was straight up full on cliche

La La Land is the best film of the year in my opinion, followed by Manchester by the Sea, and then Moonlight.

Woah okay Manchester By the Sea >>>>>>> La La Land

I might just be a sucker for a good musical, but I also enjoyed the message and ending of La La Land more than any film this past year.

I love musicals. La La Land was built up as such a phenomenal film that when I watched it it was about the biggest let down imaginable to me.

Maybe it's just a personal taste then? I was hooked into the film from the initial number. It's funny, I don't think the acting was phenomenal and I don't think Stone or Gosling deserve to win their respective Oscar category, but as a film, I just felt the most connected to it compared to any other film; that's why I am rooting for it to win best picture.

Yeah definitely personal taste. There's plenty of films that I love that people raise their eyebrows at. It's not often there's a film that I actually dislike but La La Land was one of them.

I haven't seen Manchester By the Sea, but heard it's a "good film" but depressing af.
So I have 0 interest in seeing it.
Same with La La Land.

Shit year

La La Land is impeccable.

2016 was a terrific year.

Totally agree about La La Land. Though, I'd say The Neon Demon, Arrival, Jackie, The Nice Guys, The Witch, Love & Friendship, and The Edge of Seventeen are definitely terrific as well, and would be right behind it for me.

I loved Jackie, The Nice Guys and Arrival too. Portman should win best actress over Stone for her performance as well, in my opinion.
