I'm confused why retirees are on the list, even if it's based on last season's stats
Typically they aren't.

As far as I can see, it's really only been 2 guys who retired

I agree, but 2 out of 101 isn't a big deal.

They'll have it down pat next year Wink

Yeahthat

Even with a down year he can't be outside of the top like 20 players

1 Taylor McDavid (WIN) X 41 11 37 48 15 54 20 165 118 139 0 0 7.91% 17

For the record, I am going to campaign for Abdeezy (if he chooses to do this next year) to do votes out of 10 instead of 5.

With fewer and fewer voters (seriously, does nobody want to do this?), it would make sense for a little more variation with the numbers and potential for the results to be more accurate.
I volunteer to vote for the next one.

Simons + Creller top 40!

Simons + Creller top 40!
Ilike

- ArGarBarGar - 07-11-2015

40. (S18) D (Edmonton Blizzard) - Magnus Vikstrand || +12
Grade: 16/20
Past Seasons: S20- 88, S21- 63, S22-63, S23-52

Starting out the top 40 is defenseman Magnus Vikstrand, who was able to climb the rankings despite not being able to repeat his 30+ point performance in S22. Vikstrand was just shy of 30 points with 5 goals to his name, finishing 2nd among defensemen behind Jackson Rogers-Tanaka. He increased his blocks for the season with 75, and was a regular powerplay and penalty kill player. The defenseman appears to be showing the voters his defensive ability despite his offensive game taking a hit.

39. (S13) G (Edmonton Blizzard) - Jakub Aittokallio || -20
Grade: 16/20
Past Seasons: S20-7, S21-15, S22-9, S23-19

At 39 is goaltender Jakub Aittokallio, who gets a major drop in the rankings despite improving his save percentage and goals against. He won 26 games compared to 24 last year, but there were times he began to show his age, which may be the reason why voters are not as high on him going forward. Will Aittokallio regress now that he is hitting the bigger regression years? Time will tell.

38. (S21) RW (Manhattan Rage) - Tommy Creller || +2
Grade: 16/20
Past Seasons: S22-99, S23-40

At number 38 is Tommy Creller, the Manhattan Rage forward who remained as consistent as ever, scoring 17 goals and 40 points with another solid year. So far he has proven he is the top season 21 draftee and earned his #1 overall status, as he is starting to creep up on Daniel Merica as the top point producer on the team. Can it be done? Creller will need to just hit that extra stride, but he has already shown so much at such a young age, there is little question that he has the capability to do so.

37. (S20) C (Hamilton Steelhawks) - Griffin Simons || +21
Grade: 16/20
Past Seasons: S22-66, S23-58

With a huge jump is young center Griffin Simons, who despite not being the biggest point-getter on the squad, continued to improve both his offensive game and defensive game. Hamilton has enjoyed this draftee so far, as his 42 point season was tied for 3rd on the team, and his 52% faceoff percentage was 2nd on the team by a hair being Joe McKeil.

36. (S12) LW (Seattle Riot) Adam Kylrad || -19
Grade: 16/20
Past Seasons: S20-12, S21-34, S22-21, S23-17

At 36 is winger Adam Kylrad, who surprisingly took a step back in our rankings. From being a top-20 player, Kylrad has to settle for only top-40 despite scoring 20 goals and 41 points. He did have a down year defensively, but was it that bad to warrant this ranking? He appeared to spend more time hitting than playing defense, as his hits went up but his +/- went way way down. If he can balance out his physicality with defensive play, he should get back in the top-20.

35. (S19) G (Los Angeles Panthers) - Jackson Weekes || -4
Grade: 16/20
Past Seasons: S20- 91, S21-75, S22-62, S23-31

At number 35 is a familiar face in this spot, goaltender Jackson Weekes. Weekes improved his save percentage from a .905 to a .913 despite not getting as many wins on the season. He was a very important part of the squad in helping with the goals against, improving his goals against average to a 2.46. Unfortunately, with some players getting bumps, Weekes has to settle for staying in the 30s and not moving up on the spot for top goaltender in the league today.

34. (S20) D (Manhattan Rage) - Barney Stinson || +22
Grade: 16/20
Past Seasons: S23-56

At number 34 is defenseman Barney Stinson, who had a big jump after making the list for the first time last season. Stinson went from a 25 point season (and a -21) to a 34 point campain and a -6 with a North Stars team that was rebuilding. This year he gets to play alongside some serious offensive firepower, and it will be a good way to help improve on his defensive play with fewer opportunities against and more offensive opportunities for.

33. (S8) C (Edmonton Blizzard) Yousuf Scherbluk || -8
Grade: 16/20
Past Seasons: S20-8, S21-14, S22-23, S23-25

at number 33 is center Yousuf Scherbluk, who had a great bounce-back season despite his advanced age, scoring 19 goals and 53 points, leading the Blizzard in scoring. What do the voters have to say in response? In the words of Ser Meryn Trant: Too Old. It appears that S8 players are no longer welcome in the top-30 of this list, and if I was Scherbluk, I might be a little annoyed at that. What do you think, Yousuf?

32. (S14) D (Winnipeg Jets) - Ondrej Ravchitikov || +11
Grade: 17/20
Past Seasons: S20-59, S21-52, S22-42, S23-43

At 32 is Jets defenseman Onderj Ravchitikov, who had a monster season for the Texas Renegades, scoring 39 points, blocking 65 shots, and finishing just behind superstar veteran Chris Partlow in scoring. Texas was heavily reliant on these two, and Ravchitikov was up for the task. However, he is now going to be playing for the Winnipeg Jets, who do not have the same firepower on the back-end. What will he be able to do with the much increased workload and responsibility?

31. (S14) D (Calgary Dragons) Steven Jalopski || -1
Grade: 17/20
Past Seasons: S20-30, S21-22, S22-27, S23-30

At number 31 is Dragons defenseman Steven Jalopski, who was just scooted out of the top-30 with his decreased offensive performance and decreased hit totals. Jalopski has had some struggles with his team as of late, but Jalopski has been a consistent goal-scorer for the Dragons and a major contributor with defensive partner Sachimo Zoidberg. Just gotta get some support for Birkavs and Anrikkanen.

- Wasty - 07-11-2015

Hmmm.. either in the Top 30 or fallen off completely haha.

- .bojo - 07-11-2015

Probably don't deserve top 30 if I'm there but I'm honored.
