- Joker5123 - 08-11-2012 So first off I should say that the way we have it right now is alright but personally I think this would make more sense. Currently we have it at two conferences, 6 teams each. 4/6 teams make the playoffs per conference. The #1 and #4 seeds, and the #2 and #3 seeds in each conference play each other. The winners of those match ups play each other for their respective Conference Championships. The Conference Champions play each other for the Challenge Cup. Now, my proposal is that we re-align to keep the two conference and keep them called the Eastern and Western Conferences with 6 teams in each one. Each conference will include two divisions of 3 teams that say we name them after SHL greats. http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/803/img0490kj.jpg Taking a look at that map, each current SHL team has a pin on it. Besides Edmonton, they have a weird one since I couldn't find another yellow. Yellow pins are Canadian teams and white pins are American teams. Now, my proposed alignment would work out like this. ---Western Conference--- Division 1: Calgary, Winnipeg, Edmonton. Division 2: Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Texas. ---Eastern Conference--- Division 3: West Kendall, Manhattan, Buffalo. Division 4: Hamilton, Minnesota, Toronto. http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/8373/img04902s.jpg That's an updated version of the map above with each division circled in certain colors. Division 1 is red, Division 2 is blue. Division 3 is purple. Division 4 is yellow. Now for the playoffs. The top two teams in each division would make the playoffs. The 1st and 2nd seeds in each division play each other. The winners of those series play each other for their Conference Championship. The two Conference Champions play for the Challenge Cup. So, tell me what you guys think? If I missed something, please let me know so I can add it. - Wongy - 08-11-2012 ![]() Maybe division 1's 1st faces division's 2's 2nd. And vice versa. and for division 3 and 4, same thing - Dooley - 08-11-2012 Its a solid suggestion. Divisions are pretty well balanced as well. I think id like to keep the current format but i like this method of reallignment as well. - Jesus The Mexican Way - 08-11-2012 I like it. I just really wished one of the expansion teams was Canadian so you could do an American conference and Canadian conference. I think that would have been really cooll <_< - Joker5123 - 08-11-2012 Quote:Originally posted by Boon@Aug 11 2012, 07:02 PMPeople complained about there not being enough American teams, it was 50/50 and now there's more American teams then Canadian teams. ![]() - Joker5123 - 08-11-2012 Quote:Originally posted by coolstar87@Aug 11 2012, 06:59 PMYeah, that makes more sense. I'll update it in a second. - Dion - 08-11-2012 Quote:Originally posted by Boon@Aug 11 2012, 06:02 PMMake one of them Saskatoon and we are good to go ![]() - BasedMinkus - 08-11-2012 no thanks. It ruins a good rivalry between Chiefs and Platoon - Brandon - 08-11-2012 not a fan just because of how far up north Buffalo really is, they shouldn't be considered a Southern Team. - Spangle - 08-11-2012 Where's the hate button? Buffalo and Manhattan are not in the South. Conference names make no sense and plus, it's fine as is. Only way I see doing something like this is keeping the current conferences and splitting them in two. - Harry - 08-11-2012 Quote:Originally posted by Dion.SoDmG@Aug 11 2012, 06:05 PM ![]() - Joker5123 - 08-11-2012 Quote:Originally posted by JayTee@Aug 11 2012, 07:07 PMHow many games do you guys play against each other a season? I haven't determined how many games each team would play against teams in their division, conference and other conference yet so it could end up being the same amount. - BasedMinkus - 08-11-2012 Quote:Originally posted by Joker5123@Aug 11 2012, 04:10 PM no idea. Not just that though, the playoff matchup is almost a guarantee between us two. - Dooley - 08-11-2012 Quote:Originally posted by Sponges@Aug 11 2012, 07:09 PM While I can agree with the reason you hate it, if we did your method the divisions would probably be the same. Itd make sense to split the west into Canadian/American IMO, aka divisions 1 and 4. Then 2 and 3 is prolly the most logical way to split up the east as well. - Joker5123 - 08-11-2012 Quote:Originally posted by Brandon@Aug 11 2012, 07:08 PMI've updated it, I can see how an Eastern and Western Conference set up would work now... |
