IIHF Team Finland - S81 Roster Announcement (2x IIHF) - Carpy48 - 04-03-2025 ![]() Welcome to the roster announcement for team Finland!
![]() ~~~
Hi everyone! It's time for the roster announcement post for team Finland with our usual introductions of new players, departures of old players and any other updates from the team since last tournament. Many people probably just skip this intro part and go straight to the player list at the bottom, which you are of course welcome to do, but who knows, maybe someone finds these paragraphs interesting. Only those actually reading this every season will notice how similar the structure is, but anyway let's start since you're apparently still reading. We as team Finland are lucky that we never have to go through anything like a huge rebuild on IIHF level. We pretty much keep the same players, we have a roster of fully active users every year, but at the same time there is regularly space for rookies to join while others either retire or simply age out or - much rarer - go inactive. Let's start with the first point on the agenda and that is departures. Our departures this time are three players who have all been with us on and off for some seasons now. Let's start with the first one, Johnny Patey V2, one of our slightly younger defenders who probably could've spent some more time with us, but being inactive @JohnnyPatey had to make space for an active. That is how things are. We still liked having you around and helping win us two medals in the late 70s. Since you're not retired yet, you're always welcome back if activity goes back up. Next up is a slightly older winger who has been with us for not two, but three of our more recent medals in the 70s: None other than FITTEDPRIMETIME99* CUDDLES! Yes, that's a name. Thanks @Fitted2106 for your loyalty through two players on Winland, it was great having you on the team! Number three is the oldest of the trio who is also making space for someone younger: Nash Topalo, formerly one third of our leadership team and who has also won three medals with Winland. Big thanks to @Rangerjase for sticking with us through multiple careers as well! Three spots opening up means we will get to introduce three rookies this tournament. It is time for our rookies! All of them have some history or other connection with the team. First I would like to introduce Hip Hurts a.k.a. @juke formerly known on Finland in the S60s as Jukka Timonen who won three medals with us including two golds and he even got a top defenseman card out of it. Hip Hurts is technically also a defender, but will play forward with us this tournament. Welcome back, juke! The waiting has an end and @Sburbine who you might remember as our Co-Fed Head from last season and before is finally back with an active player on the team. Not just any player, a skating laundry basket (we don't ask questions here): Hamper Linthome! Great to have you back too ![]() Lastly, I would like to introduce @Dextaria who not only will be the new Co-Fed Head for us, but will also bring a player along. How convenient ![]() Along with Hip Hurts we'll have two other defenders playing forwards, because we still have a surplus on the D-side. This time it'll be Kaarlo Koivunen und Kal Åkar Kekkonen joining the forwards. At the same time Stavros Kondos decided to permanently switch to defense starting this tournament. Before we get to the roster, I know everyone is waiting for it, I would like to say a special thanks to two players playing their last tournament with us now. First of all our oldest player on the team and part of the leadership group, Outdoor Truck (@Snussu), will play one last time with us before ageing out. We'll do our best to bring you a gold medal, because that's the one you're still missing. And secondly, Cheeks Klapanen (@Spartan) has decided to retire and will also join us for one last time. Thanks for everything! ~~~ Here's Team Finland's roster for S81:
