The Future of Blizzard Buzz - Ara - 05-08-2025 Hey y’all, Most of you know Blizzard Buzz used to be me and Caliph just winging it—off-the-cuff banter, half-baked tangents, and zero script. With Caliph stepping away from the SHL, I need to make a few things clear , both so you know what’s actually happening and what’s coming next. Let’s break it into the bad and the good. The Bad Planned Interviews My chats with Toaster and a few others can’t go forward as we sketched them. If I find a new cohost, I might revisit those ideas—but right now they just don’t work without Caliph’s voice in the mix. Likely Hiatus A full-hour improv podcast without my partner-in-crime feels… awkward, to say the least. Blizzard Buzz will probably pause until I lock in someone who can riff as well as Caliph did. Format Overhaul Incoming We built the show on spontaneity, but that free-form style isn’t sustainable alone—and SHL media’s evolving. Expect a new structure, actual scripts, and better production so we can actually deliver something polished. The Good One Last Unreleased Episode Before he left, we recorded a 30-minute interview that never saw the light of day. I’m dropping it in the next two days—watch for it! Tribute & Reflections I’m working on a short “look back” on Caliph’s run as my cohost and Edmonton GM, plus an in-character retirement audio piece for Matthias. I’ll have those out in roughly two weeks as a proper send-off. Cohost Search Starts Now Applications are open for a new Blizzard Buzz partner. If all goes well, you’ll hear our first revamped episode this summer. I also want to say a few words about the past year with Caliph. I met him about ten months ago when he first scouted me for Edmonton , prior to the S79 SHL draft. We clicked immediately—he was a bit scattershot with the ADHD moments, sure, but that’s what made it fun. Be it discussing DND campaigns, fiction, gaming (New Vegas FTW), writing together, etc he becamd one of my favorite users on SHL. Recording those seven episodes of Blizzard Buzz (and our downright ridiculous “SHL Shitcast” outtakes) was always a highlight. No matter how brutal my day—15-hour shift, crushing burnout, or a rough depressive spell—hopping on StreamYard with him was the cure. He had this uncanny knack for turning my worst days upside-down, even if just for a half hour. He wasn’t just my cohost; he was the glue of our little Edmonton crew. I know I’m not the only one who’s going to miss that spark of his nor his ability to fill our locker room with laughter. Truth be told, I had almost considered leaving the SHL or Edmonton after his departure, given he was one of two people that had gotten me most excited about the team. Suffice to say, that Edmonton and Blizzard Buzz will not be the same without Caliph nor the levity he brought to both. Yet with that being said, I do want to let y’all know that this is just the beginning for Blizzard Buzz and I look forward to seeing y’all tune in for whatever comes next.
