With the recent announcement that Daniel Merica, who will playing a vital role for the Seattle Riot this season in his rookie campaign, just won the SMJHL MVP award for decimating the league like Michael Jordan would have in the NBA D-League, Mr. Merica is now present and available for any questions you may have. I don't set predictions or goals for myself, other then to be the best player out there. I believe setting expectations and limits has to many potentially unsavory results, I'll let other people predict my season, I'm just out to be the best.

Any idea how you'll stack up to the tougher competition in the SHL?

Simply put, every day I woke up knowing someone was out there hating on me and I wanted to make them hate me more, which fueled my drive and passion to become the best player I can. Haters are like my oxygen. And I had the best mentor in the world in Klose, who was key in helping me develop.
I think I will stack up well, obviously I am not on the Elite level, I have a ton of work to do to get where I wanna be in the SHL. But I believe Ive developed my core attributes to where I can compete and provide a good contribution to the team. I'm arrogant, but not so much that I think I'm going to be the best in my first season. The SHL is an entirely different animal then the SMJHL.
