I'm not sure if this has been talked about before, but I'm curious as to what people think. Here's the list of current individual awards, not team awards, in the SHL:

MVP (Awards Committee)
MVP (Voted by players)
Playoff MVP
Top Goalie
Top Defender
Top Rookie
Top Two-way player
Top GM
Top Coach
Most Improved
Most Dedicated
Most Points
Most Goals
Most PIM
Goalie with lowest GAA
Lifetime Achievement

Does this seem like a shit ton of awards to anyone else? I feel like we could kind of consolidate some of these. I'd like to know what the difference is between Top GM and Top Coach. Also, I feel Most Dedicated and Lifetime Achievement fall under the same realm. I understand some of these are to emulate the NHL, but we can probably do away with a couple of these for more valuable awards. I'd get rid of the following:

- Most Dedicated
- Top Coach
- MVP (Voted by Players)
- MVP (Awards Committee)

And I would do the following:

- League MVP (Voted by Awards Committee / HO / HOF Committee / etc)
- Lifetime Achievement Award (Handed out every 5 seasons instead each one)
- Have two defensemen awards; Top Offensive Defender / Top Defensive Defender

Not trying to start an argument, but I think we can make the awards a little better IMO. I'd like to hear opinions.

McZ had won more trophies than he did actually :-?

No, I don't like these ideas. Top offensive defenseman is as silly proposed for the NHL as it is here.

Also the point of the lifetime achievement award is to recognize people who have had multiple seasons of commitment to the league, so it differs from the Littleton.

The NHL currently gives trophies for

MVP voted by NHLPA
MVP voted by league
Playoff MVP
Top Goaltender
Top Defenseman
Top Goalie
Best Goals Against
Most Goals
Most Points
Top Rookie
Best Sportsmanship
Best Charitable Work (or whatever the King Clancy is for)
Top GM
Top Coach
Top Two Way
Lifetime Achievement
Comeback player of the year? (Those might be the same)

Also difference between coach and GM are some GMs just build the roster and the co-GMs run lines. Then there are some GMs that do both by themselves.

I don't see any reason to make these changes, personally. There's no reason not to have more awards and recognize more people.

Also, as someone who won top coach and top GM in different seasons, to me GM is more the personnel moves you make to improve your team, whereas coach is what you do with the pieces you have with your lines and the like.

Lifetime achievement is bigger than most dedicated. Dedicated is to recognize the members that have shown a passion and dedication to the league through a variety of different ways. The Ono is to respect a member that hasn't given a lot of their time and effort to improve the league.

Top coach is basically for having the best lines whereas gm is the best roster.

Top GM = The GM that makes roster moves throughout the off-season and regular season that help improve the team

Top Coach = The team who pus together the best lines and tends to do more with less

Most Dedicated = The person who does a lot in that one season to benefit the league

Lifetime achievement = Someone who did things in the past to get the league to where i is now.

Also doing the lifetime achievement award every 5 seasons doesn't make sense at this current juncture because we literally implemented the award like 3 seasons ago.

We can probably slow down the lifetime achievement when we stop getting consensus on who to give it to in a season to keep it prestigious
